Sharon's Journal -150 here I come!

Hi everyone!:wave2: i am just back from Curves this AM and very excited. I got weighed and measured for my first month. Listen to this - I am down 4 lbs and 6 inches according to them!!!
:cheer2: :thewave: :cheer2:

My scale does not agree with theirs, so I am undecided how I will log that, but 6 inches is pretty awesome huh?! I just can't get over that! Imagine if I actually start going three times a week like I'm supposed to!

I didn't go to Curves last night. Again I got held up at work. Things should settle down in the office after next week. Of course then I am into my busiest time of year on the home front, so Curves three times a week will still be a challenge. But I am determined to keep plugging along. Now I have numbers where I can see my results! :teeth:

The food thing continues to be a struggle. I am going to try to get to the grocery store and stock up on some precut veggies, like celery, carrots, cauliflower and such. Maybe if it is here and already to go I will do better. It is worth a try anyhow! Planning ahead seems to really help me stay OP, so I need to focus on that a little more. ::yes::

Goals:
1) no cheat - 16/21
2) vitamin - 21/21
3) water - 18/21
4) exercise - 8/12

I am doing well on my exercise goal, but it will be a challenge to meet it. I need to go to Curves Sat AM, and Mon, Tues, and Fri next week to make it. I CAN do it!::yes:: Water intake has been very good the last 2 days. I am home today, so I need to concentrate on keeping that going in a different environment. Focus Sharon, focus! And of course, it is the weekend, where I usually fall apart with the food. I need to keep thinking about those numbers from Curves and just "walk away" from the off plan stuff. I need to formulate a plan for my food because as I jsut said, that makes it easier for me.

Okay, today will be
B - low fat Blueberry muffin
L - McDs grilled chicken salad
D - hamburger on george Foreman grill
S - popcorn! :hyper:
Alright, that seems doable, reasonable and I don't think I will feel deprived in any way. I should be able to stick with that.

Well I'm off to get some cleaning and laundry done. Sorry this was so long, but I needed to write it all down.

Have a great weekend! :sunny: :sunny:

:cheer2: Way to go Sharon!:cheer2: Congratulations on your lost inches and your lost pounds! That is wonderful!!!

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing, OP weekend!:sunny: Take care, Sharon!

CONGRATS SHARON!!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: For the pounds.
:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc for the inches!

You have done a great job. Keep it up, and you'll love the results. Your plan for the day looks great.
Have a great weekend.
Beth

Thanks Tracy and Beth! :teeth:

I am still pretty happy with those numbers! :teeth: It is very inspiring for me to continue on with this way of living!

The weekend went pretty well. I ended up with a cold and pretty bad cough. Consequently, I didn't have too much of an appetite, so the weekend went fairly well. On the downside, I didn't get to Curves Sat AM. :( Had to watch a friends son in the morning, so I couldn't get out. It looks like I won't make my goal of 12 days of exercise this month, but I am hoping to hit 11/12! :Pinkbounc That would be SUCH an improvememnt over what I did for exercise last spring when I tried this! I am headed in the right direction and it gives me something to shoot for next month! ::yes::

Goals:
1) No cheat 19/25
2) Vitamin 25/25
3) water 21/25 I drank LOTS and LOTS this weekend! :p
4) exercise 8/12

This week I have to really try to get to Curves 3 times!! Thursday is out because I am going on DD's Field Trip to Salem, Mass. I'm not looking forward to it, but she really wanted me to go. I brought breakfast and lunch to work with me, so no excuses for going off plan today.

B- fat free corn muffin
L- WW wrap with roast beef, baby spinach and mayo
S- carrotts, soup
D- I think it will be a salad with chicken breast

So I've got a plan and I'm stickin to it!:smooth:

Good morning Sharon!

I hope you are feeling better today. ::yes:: Your menu for today sounds good. You've got a plan and I know you'll stick to it! :teeth: Have a great day!:sunny: :teeth:

Tracy:wave2:

So far, so good today. I still have my cold/cough, so my taste buds are way off. But that is a good thing, because I really haven't had any cravings. Stayed right on my points for yesterday. Didn't get my salad because the schedule was way too crazy. Maybe tonight??

Goals:
1) no cheat - 20/25
2) vitamin - 25/25
3) water - 22/25
4) exercise - 8/12

I have my clothes with me to change and go to Curves after work. Doesn't look like I'll be able to go Wed or Thurs. Maybe Friday evening and I can shoot for Sat morning as well. That would put me at 11/12 if I can do both of those days. I would be estatic if I get 11/12 on my exercise goal. 10/12 would even make me happy. I know that exercise is going to be the only thing that enables me to drop this weight, so it is important that I make progress in this area! ::yes::

It is an absolutely beautiful New England fall day today!! The leaves are gorgeous and I'm trying to take the time to enjoy them because I hear it is going to be a long, cold winter. :(

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
I keep hearing the same thing about the long winter  . I'm just hoping EVERYONE is wrong :teeth: !

The trip to Salem should be fun ::yes:: . Have you every been? I would think it will be a long ride from where you live however. It take us awhile to get there and I live pretty close to the MA border.

I hope you have a great Wednesday, Sharon :sunny: ! Enjoy the beautiful day and I hope you are feeling better.

Yeah Val, They tell me it is a 3 hour bus trip. :( With 41 students!:scared: I've never been to Salem, so it should be interesting. BUT, I am room mother, so I have to provide breakfast before the kids get on the bus. I need hot chocolate, muffins, bagels for 26 students in the school by 6:15 AM. :worried: And we aren't scheduled to return until 10:30 PM, so its gonna be a VERY long day. I'm gonna try to get to bed by 9 PM tonight! ::yes::

Yesterday went well. I did go to Curves after work. :hyper: I'm gonna try to get there Friday and Sat as well this week. Food was OP except for some french fries, but they were within my points, so I am okay with that. I only used 3.5 of my 35 flex points last week, so that was really good. I would like to continue that trend!!:smooth:

Goals:
1) No cheat 21/26
2) vitamin 26/26
3) Water 23/26
4) exercise 9/12 :teeth:

I have begun to think about my goals for Nov. The No cheating and exercise I will continue to list. I need reminders on these so that I don't loose track. I think I will make getting so many veggie/fruit and dairy servings per day a goal as well. I need to get more of those items into my diet!! No sure yet about the water goal. I do pretty well with that, as water is my beverage of choice (after black coffee!! ) Maybe tracking the water on WW will be enough to keep me on track.

I won't be around at all tomorrow and Friday I am babysitting 2 of my nieces - plus kids are off from school. So I'm not sure when I'll be back to post. Have a wonderful few days and

STAY AWAY FROM HALLOWEEN CANDY!!!

Sharon, you're doing so well!! Congrats on those great numbers from your first month at Curves!!! WOO HOO!!!!

I hope that nasty cold is gone and you're feeling all better.

Your field trip sounds like fun - hope you have a great time with DD and her classmates! ::yes::

Hi Sharon,
\
Congratulations again on those numbers. The trip to Salem sounds like fun, but exhausting. I hope you have a good time.

I can hear you about the candy. This year I wised up. I bought candy I'm allergic to. I am ok until Katie goes trick or treating..

Try to keep your sanity with all those kids.
Beth

I'm back!!!!! Salem was very interesting - we enjoyed ourselves, the weather was beautiful, all went well. But I have to admit it was EXHAUSTING!!!!! We did LOTS of walking and it was a very long day - 6:00 am to 10:15 pm!

The rest of the weekend was a blur. I babysat for my 2 nieces ( 3 & 4 yrs old) all day Friday. I dropped them off about 4 pm and after that I really started to feel poorly. It seems the trip to Salem was too much and my cold/cough came back with a vengance!! I still had to get DD to dance sat morning. Stood out in the drizzle while DS played soccer. :( I just couldn't catch a break! By Sat evening I headed to the walk-in clinic. I have an upper resperatory infection and nasty cough.

Needless to say, I didn't do Curves Fri night or Sat morning. So my goal of 12 days of Curves for the month was not met. :o I am okay with that because I am confident if I had felt better, I would have gone those 2 days. I will continue to work towards improving that number in November.

Recap of October Goals:
1) Cheat free 26/31 days 84%!!
2) Vitamin 31/31 days 100%!!
3) Water 28/31 days 90%!!
4) Exercise 9/12 days 75%!!

I am proud of these results for the month. The exercise, while only 75% of goal, is a huge improvement from earlier in the year when I attempted this. The scale this weekend also had nice things to say to me, so I am feeling encouraged and confident!

November goals are going to be a little bit different. I will continue to count my cheat free days in order to keep myself on course. November is my birthday, DD's B-day, Thanksgiving - so many opportunities to get off program. i need to keep track of myself! ::yes:: I will also keep my exercise goal at 3 times per week. With everything that will be going on, this will still be a challenge, but it is a goal that I definitely want to meet! My other goal will be to increase my veggies. WW has you count the servings per day of veggies/fruit. Because there is not too much fruit available right now that I like, I will try to focus more on the veggies for the time being. I need to use more of my allotted points for veggies rather than the starches and fats! I will continue to track my water intake on WW, but I will not make it part of my goals here. I am used to drinking lots of water as long as we are not traveling. Sincce we have no plans to travel this month, I don't forsee a problem there.

So here they are in black and white for Nov:
1) Cheat Free 25/30 days
2) exercise 12/12 days
3) veggies - 3 servings per day 25/30 days

I have allowed myself room to not be perfect, but I think they are still ambitious goals. And I think if I meet them, I will see more results in this weight loss quest!

Have a great day and don't forget to vote tomorrow!

Hi Sharon,

Great job last month. No wonder those inches are melting off. you should be very proud of yourself.

I hope you are feeling better soon. Take it easy. Get lots of rest and drink fluids. I know that is impossible for a mom, but I still have to say it.

Now, go take a nap. You need one after that weekend.
Beth

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
Wow! Those goal numbers are impressive ::yes:: ! I'm glad that you enjoyed Salem but I'm sorry to hear you ended up worn down and sick by the end of the weekend. I hope you found some time to rest and recoup today.

Those November goals are looking good. I know you can meet them ::yes:: . Have a great Tuesday :sunny: !

Yesterday was a very sucessful day goal wise for me. I exceeded my veggie goal for the day!!:teeth: That is certainly a good way to start the month, right?!

Goals:
1) Cheat free - 1/1
2) exercise - 0/12
3) Veggies - 1/1

Today is going very well also. I have had my veggies again for the day. I have also brought a change of clothes so that I can hit Curves on the way home. I have high hopes for this month if I can keep to my goals!:smooth:

I have an off topic question to pose to everyone:

My kids are not very big on going on rides. We went to WDW about 3 years ago. Would you spend the money to go again if the kids didn't like going on rides? They won't even watch the 3-D shows!!!! My kids and I love Disney characters, movies and just love to surrond ourselves in the whole Disney atmosphere. But that is an awful lot of money to spend on tickets when all we do is walk around. What would you do???

First of all, congratulations on a great start to the month! That is wonderful Sharon!!!:Pinkbounc Keep up the good work!

As for your question.... I'm not sure what I would do. I love Disney, my DH loves Disney, my kids loves Disney, and we all love the rides! I think I would still go. There is always Epcot (not a lot of rides, but a lot to do), DTD ( Fun and Free! As long as you don't buy anything.;) ), MGM (has a couple of shows and the dining is an experience all it's own), and of course, the Disney outlet malls as well. Maybe if the kids want to go bad enough, they will compromise and ride some rides as well. Is there a specific reason they don't care for rides or is it just rides in general? You could also check out some other Orlando attractions and maybe even the beach as well. ::yes::

I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow, Sharon. Thanks for your support in my journal. Take care!

Tracy:wave2:

Hi Sharon,

Great job so far in November. How was Curves?

As for your question. A lot can change in 3 years. They may be into the rides now. What are the ages of the kids? Regardless, there is a lot to do in Disney. If they like the characters, you can do some character mealss and autograph collecting. Good Luck with your decision.
Beth

Thanks Tracy & Beth! The kids are DD (12 next week) and DS (7). Nope, they haven't changed. They just don't like rides - don't like heights, don't like to go fast, don't like to be scared...... I could maybe get them to compromise on some things. But I hate to spend $1,000 on tickets and then just kind of walk around for the week. I don't know.....we will continue to think about it. All the other things you mentioned got me all excited and wanting to go back!!:Pinkbounc

Today is going okay. Haven't got any veggies in yet and don't have a good plan to do that yet. But I'm working on it. ;)

I did go to Curves last night, so that is good. I hope to go tomorrow night as well, but they are closing at 6:30 tomorrow. I need to get out of work on the dot to get there and finish before then. I'm gonna try like heck to make that happen. :smooth:

Goals:
1) Cheat free - 2/2
2) Exercise - 1/12
3) veggies - 2/2

So the month continues to go well so far. TOM arrived today and the scale only shows me up 2 lbs. Maybe with all the veggies and exercise I'll see a nice whoosh next week! :teeth:

Have a great day!

Hi Sharon!
Greetings from a fellow WWer! I am relatively new to the Journal boards, but I wanted to offer a small suggestion for the kids and rides. I don't know if it will work for your kids but it did for mine! (DD - 11, DS - 9) Is it possible to coordinate your trip around the time you know someone else might be going? It would give you the opportunity to meet up - say in MK - and have fun in the park. Usually the momentum of the crowd and enthusiasm of the other children is enough to get a child to try a ride at least once.
Now *my* kids are the ride junkies and they are the ones encouraging other kids to go on Space Mountain (and others) with them just one time. ;) It helped my kids get over their fear of Haunted Mansion (they still won't ride it at night) and they now love love love ToT and RnRC!
No reason to plan an entire vacation together. Just a small 'meet' somewhere in a park.
When we went on the cruise in 2004, it was the first time in 5 trips we didn't know someone else. The most at one time? 14 other people!

Keep drinking your water and WOO HOO for the veggies. That's a tough one for me. :o
