~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I'm guessing they didn't go in through the front...otherwise you would have been up all night with him thinking his throat was swollen closed! My worst night was my first night at home. I couldn't get comfortable. One trick the nurses told me was to put a pillow between the mattress and box springs. It helped to elevate the mattress enough to help me sleep...well, that and the pain pills!
Hope he has better luck today!
:hug: What devastating news. I can't even begin to imagine the pain of losing a child. My thoughts are with the family.
I have a Miracle Whip dh as well!
Is there any way you can prop Josh up with a bunch of pillows until the recliner comes? Or how 'bout sending him to a neighbor's house that has a recliner -- then you can get more sewing done :rotfl: Seriously, hope he does well today.
I wish - he was able to take a nice nap this afternoon. He's only been sleeping in 1-2 hour spurts... I hope he is finally able to get a good nights sleep soon.
Yah, DH is a Miracle Whip guy and I am a mayo girl - not just any mayo though - has to be Hellman's and I can only handle a little at a time... Mostly any mayo product grosses me out - due to a "leech" type creature I found in a brand new jar of Miracle Whip when I was in highschool... So, don't even make me try MW - I won't. LOL
MArianne sending prayers to that family.
D glad that Josh is resting. My Dh goes stircrazy when he is home so I understand that.
I am off to the grocery this morning and then the girl has a dance rehearsal.
Hope you had fun today and Miss C enjoyed her dance class.
Thank you all for the prayers for Gabriel's family. I cannot begin to express my sorrow. I think it hit so close to home because Emily has done so much for so many of the mito families here . . .
So sorry to hijack your PTR here D~ :hug:
Sorry Josh had a difficult time last night. :( I have a high tolerance for pain as well - sometimes I think it's almost harder for people like us, because we don't react the same way someone with a lower threshold would, so the doctors don't know what to do. . .
I hope the day goes well for you both!
Yah, I don't like his pain threshold at all... Allison came running up to my sewing room today to tattle on Josh - said he was trying to get behind the entertainment center to find the HDMI cable... Grrr.... I put a stop to that.
Glad to hear Josh is doing well. The first few days are always the worst. And compound it with difficultly sleeping. I feel for you guys.
So frustrating to find out that what you thought he went in for was not what they did! Hoping Josh fully recovers. Sending positive thoughts your way for a speedy recovery.
Loree (<-- think I forgot to answer you on this before, but feel free to come up with something yourself! :) )
Yes, that is frustrating, but hopefully they were able to save it from getting worse in the future.
Thanks for the name... I will try to remember - but most likely you will get your own anyways, because I am horrible at names. :confused3
:cat: Josh might rest more comfortably with a purring cat on his lap. There's something reassuring about a warm pile of fur (unless he hates cats, of course) curled up and rumbling away. I had one all boxed up and ready to mail until I realized I've misplaced your address. You'll have to PM me with it.
We haven't had a cat in years... Ever since Josh brought home 2 "female" kitten when the girls were little, and they grew up to be male cats... Nope, D~ doesn't do cats anymore... Sometimes I swear I can still smell it, and we haven't lived in that house or had any of the same furniture in over a decade. D~ is a dog person all the way. :lovestruc
hope Josh can find a comfortable spot for sleeping! and he doesn't get to stir crazy laying around....and make you :crazy2: will be home all day if you need to text/vent!!!
Thanks Lisa... I stayed occupied in my sewing room today.
Thanks Nini - no they went through the back. I can't imagine that feeling - it must have been horrible! :hug: I will tell him about the pillow trick - and we'll give it a whirl - I am about ready to try anything at this point to help him get comfortable.
So, I spent a few hours in my sewing room today - working on a pair of Donald capris for myself... I found an old pair of jeans in my Rubbermaid bin, so I chopped them off... I was only able to finish one leg today - but it looks really cute. Not sure what I am going to do with the back pockets yet??? I ripped both of them off... I might match them to the rest??? Or I might applique Donald on there - just not sure yet... Any ideas???
Then, V and I spent a couple of hours hand stitching the Ugly Couch... There were only 3 spots where the seams had seperated, but it seemed like more than that. So, I think the Ugly Couch is ready to buh-bye.... I've officially banned the entire family from sitting on it, because so help me if one of those seams pops!
D~
Well, I owe you a big "Thank You!" Your encouragement via text this afternoon led to me get out of my chair and go sew . . . All I have left now is to applique the MH on the back of the vest and applique the t-shirt :-) :woohoo:
I'm trying to decide HOW to attach the applique to the vest before I satin stitch it - I'm using felt for everything and I don't know that I can use heat n' bond lite. . . :confused3
:dogdance: Josh might rest more comfortably with a sleeping dog on his lap. There's something reassuring about a warm pile of fur (unless he prefers female/male cats, of course) curled up and snoring away. I had one all boxed up and ready to mail until I realized I've misplaced your address. You'll have to PM me with it.
:rolleyes1
Tears rolling down my face at the loss of sweet Gabriel, Marianne....That hits far too close to home for me and I am sorry. :grouphug::grouphug:
Sweet D~ I am so sorry to read of Josh's first post op night being so difficult and beyond frustrated for you that once they got in there what you THOUGHT was happening wasn't. I do pray it gives him the relief he deserves.:flower3:
A Dog on the lap DOES relieve pain and make things better...(if they are small enough)!
D~ Sorry I am so far behind, I have loved each and EVERY creation you have done, you are simply the best! :worship::worship: I don't konw what else ot ay right now to anyone other than send huge :grouphug::hug::grouphug: for a MUCH better week!
I am so happy I was able to get you out of your chair... Sometimes, it must be done. LOL I want you bonding with that machine again - you really make some fabulous stuff, and it's a shame that you aren't making more. But, I understand you do have a life. :lovestruc
I am still thinking of you and praying for Gabriel's family. :hug:
Thanks for the edit Cheryl. I am still pouting that you will be in Disney the day before I get there, and you aren't staying so we can meet. :confused3 I'd be tempted to bribe you with my address... :rolleyes1
Thanks Judy. :lovestruc Yes, the more he talks about it, the more frustrated he gets. The Dr./surgeon has yet to tell him what he told me. I guess, the most frustrating part, for both of us, is that he was misdiagnosed at the VA in 2006... In 2006, he was diagnosed with a shoulder injury, because that's where the pain was - but it wasn't service connected (It should have been, but someone lost his paperwork). He has been dealing with this "shoulder injury" for the last 6 years, and finally this last summer, they changed it to a neck injury - which some how they managed to get service connected (I think there was paper work on that at some point). Anyways, if the original Dr./Dr.s would have diagnosed it correctly, they could have operated years ago, and saved Josh's mobility in his arm. As it sits right now (and we are praying for more improvement), he has lost more than 50% of his range of motion in that arm, and about 50% of his strength and can't lift more than 10 lbs. It makes both of us so angry - what could have been a minor inconvenience at the time has turned into a permanent disability because of the misdiagnosis. :sad2: As far as we know, we have no recourse. :sick:
No worries Judy... I am glad you had the time to stop by - I know you are busy too. :hug: I am just hoping that Josh can get some sleep soon... he didn't sleep well last night either, and it is so frustrating. I don't think he has slept more than 6 hours total since his surgery - surprisingly he is in a good mood.
I plan to finish up my capris this morning. I am anxious to show them, Josh keeps coming up to my sewing room and gives me an insane look - telling me I am cute. ROFL - I don't think he'd be seen with me wearing the capris. For that matter, I am not sure I would wear them anywhere else, but Disney - they are a bit 'out there'. LOL
I think we are headed back to the hospital this morning to get Josh's records of his surgery, so we can take them to his VA rep and get some paperwork moving - I have a feeling this is going to be a long process. :rolleyes1
D~
Good Luck Dealing with paperwork and government agencies those are the bane of my exisistence. I am filling our kindergarten paperwork for a school J won't even be going too.
I have to call my ped to find out it is going to cost me for him filling out 2 medical forms.
Y'all, I have to ask for y'all to pray for a family here in Charlotte. The mother & I have belonged to the local Mommies site together for years and she has done so so so much for so many local families with special needs. Her sweet boy, only six years old, Gabriel passed away today after a month spent in the PICU. He had complications from a virus, and being special needs, it was a lot worse than it could have been. They had just moved him today from one hospital to the other because he needed more help with his kidneys than the first hospital could give. I'm at such a loss for words tonight. I can only pray that they may find peace in this time of sorrow and loss.
My heart goes out to this family and your friend. :hug:
D~ I'm glad to hear the Josh is home and that he is feeling well enough to be trying to fix the TV but good thing V told on him. I'm sure he is going crazy with having to rest and it is probably even worse since he hasn't really gotten any sleep since his surgery. What a bummer that he was misdiagnosed. It is such a shame that our veterans do not get the care they need and deserve.
Sounds like you are getting some sewing done. How are you feeling?
Oh for goodness sake!!! I'll pm you her address free of charge since you're such a tightwad and refuse to pay me for it!
D~ FIGHT hard with the VA! my mom fought for 1 1/2 years when my daddy was diagnosed with Alzheimers!
they found his original medical papers from WW11 and with his 3, yes 3 head injuries they proved it had caused his Alzheimers! he was 30% disabled when he was discharged and they reevaluated him to 100% 3 years before he died! they took care of all his care at the Alzheimer's nursing home, appts, meds, etc. plus my mom got widow's benefits for her life! also was given 5 years back pay of the 70% difference.
If this was caused by his service, he NEEDS AND DESERVES to get the benefits he is entitled too!
make sure you write EVERYTHING this down, contacts, phone #'s until you get to the bottom of this!!
hope the appts today will give him some relief and sleep!
can't wait to see your donald capris!
Liddy told me that if I didn't threadjack she would, sooooo...
Hey, check me out, I have a new PTR! Click the link below to read an ahhhhhmazing PTR... :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:
First - a HUGE thank you to Marianne... She sent me the left over squares from doing Phay & Finn's Mickey Mouse decoupage jeans... I cut out a few squares of my own too, so these capris would coordinate with my Donald UPB and sweatshirt.
Secondly, these capris were inspired by a pair of Mickey ones I had seen a long time ago - I loved them so much... And then Marianne did her's and I loved them too - so I knew this trip could not be done with out a pair of these, Donald syle, of course. :lovestruc
LOL Judy... :lovestruc Actually - the photos are a bit misleading, since I am wider than I am tall - if ya get my drift, so they look a lot shorter than what they actually are... :wizard:
D~ <--- Who is 5' 3.5" for those who are curious... :rolleyes1
How adorable D! Can I have them? :confused3
Seriously Liddy... You could easily make these - I promise.
Now, for the serious part... These have to go in my carry-on, because they are sooo heavy... :worship:
D~
Here I was hoping I'd be taller than someone. :sad2: Maybe one day I'll have a friend I'm taller than. :lmao:
