I am looking for patterns to make a Snow White and a Shang costume for adults – can anyone help me? If this is the wrong place to post, please move, thank you!
Any great DIS costume makers out there? I want these to be really beautiful creations...

but I've made a few and am in the process now of a set of Peter Pan costumes. there used to be an adult Snow White pattern by simplicity, not sure if they still have it. Still, the costume itself is not difficult, but most of these are cheaper than what I personally would do one for http://hollywood-costumes.com/
click Enter Here then click on adult disney.

They don't have a Shang though :( you may have to have that one made.

Good Luck!

What you might have to do is find a clear, good size pic and break it down to match other patterns. Or take a child's size and redraft the pattern.

For Snow White, it's a red cape (easy), yellow skirt attached to a bodice. Puffy sleeves, stand up white collar.

Li Shang has different outfits, but the simplest one is him in pants and an open tunic. Kind of like what my DH wears to Tae Kwon Do. There is probably a pattern out there for that. But him in armor will be more difficult.

Hope that helps some!

While I haven't made an adult sized Disney costume, I have made a few for kids and a "renaissance" dress for myself. This is a great time of year to be looking for patterns for costumes since Halloween is not too far away and most people try to get an early start on them (not always me, though :) ). Another possibility is to find a pattern that isn't specifically a costume that looks like the character you want to be and just use the right colors, fabrics, trim, etc. Often, the regular patterns are a better designed than costumes as they are intended for making clothes worn again and again while costumes are generally a once or twice worn item. I found a really cute dress pattern for my DD's "princess" gown in the bridal section of the pattern book. That section also has more detailing than many costumes, again because the costumes are usually a get done, wear it and make another next year. The bridal section patterns are also more "once worn" items but intended for special occasions so most sewers are willing to put more time into trims and other finishing touches than they would on a Halloween costume.

If you don't sew often, be sure to look for the patterns on sale. I never pay full price for them as most places have 50% off sales at least once a month and Joann's Fabrics also has great 3-day sales with some pattern lines at $.99 each.

Simplicity still has the adult Snow costume pattern available in stores, though you can't get it on the website. Personally, I don't like making Snow, b/c the collar, the slashed sleeves, and the endless piping are a bit of a pain. It's rather garish-looking, too, IMO, unless it's made of velvet. The Aurora dress is much prettier, really.

As for Shang, there are huge numbers of websites devoted to the design and construction of Jedi costumes, and the style is very similar. Just do a google search for "Jedi tunic pattern" and you'll get all sorts of pattern references and scale layout drawings.
