~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

Hope that the roads are clear and you get to enjoy a nice visit with your dad. I can't believe it's still snowing! Well, I can, we all went to Ohio several years ago in May. My parents went up a few days before us and it snowed while they were there - not while we were, thankfully.

I am so ready for this weekend! Work has been particularly busy this week (I work in accounting so it's month/year end) and I just found out this morning that the supervisor position I had applied for has been given to someone else so that's a bit of a bummer (I wasn't counting on it, but still disappointing). DH has to work tomorrow so I am going to run the girls to Old Navy early and then we are going to go over to my parents' house to hang out and have lunch with them. DH said something about taking the girls to the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine on Sunday, so we may do that. Although, I probably should stay home and get our taxes done. Not looking forward to that at all.

I hope I don't fall in love with any of your auction bags. I don't think I can afford an auction bag and a custom bag. And then, how would I decide which one to carry?!?

I just realized I haven't posted all week. Work is picking up again and is probably going to be crazy for the next few weeks. Darn budget process.

I hope the roads stay clear so you can make it to see your dad this weekend.

LOL Maybe I can be like Junie Cleaver, get out my pearls and wear all these skirts while I am sewing

I love sewing in big skirts. My room is on the sunny side of the house and can get a wee bit warm, so the skirts are cooler and can catch all the fiddly bits that I tend to drop. I made a skirt recently too - not anything as cute as yours, considering it's a 'geeky' skirt. I used a Batman sheet with an awesome border print.

I should be working but. . .I'm claiming lunch right now. I'm STILL not recovered from last week, but I seriously think I have a B12 deficiency due to my acid reflux meds. I've been thinking about when I seriously started having problems with my weight (not changing eating habits and still packing on the pounds) and it corresponds with my acid reflux meds. I've got a DR appointment this month (sometime) and I'll probably ask her about that then.

Looking forward to the next bag. Or skirt, whichever comes first

Texan: prayers and thoughts for you and yours.

Sorry I've been missing a couple of days. I finished my TR, added Flower & Garden pics and am ready to get my PTR rolling.

I love the skirts, D.

I'm sorry you are no longer getting the discounts on the GC's. I hope you can figure it all out. You have some time yet.

I hope you were able to take off for your dad's and with no weather issues.

Have a great visit/weekend.

wow well 2 pages later I was just teasing you about the poka dots. I really liked the bag, not a cardnal fan, but though still liked it..........next time ask though I could have sent you some fabric no problem. And if I couldn't I am sure some one would have really that's why you have fans. You can rely on us...:thumbsup2

Hi! I am extremely behind , but will do my best to catch up. My plan for this week was to read several pages per night, but that never happened. Glancing over some of the pages I am sorry about Alli and Gus. V is adorable in her new glasses and I love her hair. Love all the bags that have been made. So jealous of your Dismeets. So glad it all worked out. Back to catching up. Thoughts and prayers for everyone!

Have a great time at your Dads! YAY and AUCTION!!!!!! can't wait to see what you do for this!!!!

I did have fun at my Dad's... I woke this morning with an auciton idea - I guess that's what I've been waiting for? I know you all have given me some fantastic ideas - but when I am doing an auction, I really have to "feel" it... I woke this morning with a few ideas - so I may just be running with those? :confused3

Hope that the roads are clear and you get to enjoy a nice visit with your dad. I can't believe it's still snowing! Well, I can, we all went to Ohio several years ago in May. My parents went up a few days before us and it snowed while they were there - not while we were, thankfully.

Thanks Jennifer... The roads were great by the time I left. The worst of them were the first 2 miles of highway in front of my house - had to plow through snow drifts (our highway always drifts closed first) - but once I got beyond that, it was free and clear. :thumbsup2

I am so ready for this weekend! Work has been particularly busy this week (I work in accounting so it's month/year end) and I just found out this morning that the supervisor position I had applied for has been given to someone else so that's a bit of a bummer (I wasn't counting on it, but still disappointing). Not looking forward to that at all.

Bummer about the position... It's always so hard to hear that someone else got it when you work so hard. I hope you had a good day of shopping at Old Navy and hanging out with your parents. I also hope you were able to finish your taxes. :thumbsup2

I
hope I don't fall in love with any of your auction bags. I don't think I can afford an auction bag and a custom bag. And then, how would I decide which one to carry?!?

LOL You would carry both of them, on different days... :rotfl2:

I just realized I haven't posted all week. Work is picking up again and is probably going to be crazy for the next few weeks. Darn budget process.

I hope the roads stay clear so you can make it to see your dad this weekend.

Hi Ariana! I haven't been over to the TR section all week. :scared: I hope to get over there later today. Hopefully work isn't too hard on you this week.

Oooh - your skirt sounds so cool! i'd love to see pictures of it! I think I may start sewing in skirts - it may make my life more interesting... But I am one of those who wears shorts under skirts. :confused3

I would... I've been reading a lot lately about how many meds out there contradict what they are supposed to do/cause other problems not related to the issue at hand, and it leads to a whole web of meds to counteract the side effects of other meds... It's scary/crazy. I would definitely check into it. I sure hope you are able to figure it out soon.

Looking forward to the next bag. Or skirt, whichever comes first

Hahaha... Well... :scratchin I was able to get the trim this weekend for the bottom of my 3rd (and final) skirt... So, I might just put that together today? We'll see... It's going to be nice out and I could use some Vitamin D too. :confused3

Sorry I've been missing a couple of days. I finished my TR, added Flower & Garden pics and am ready to get my PTR rolling.

Ack!!! I missed it! I need to get over there today to finish up your TR and also start your PTR.

I love the skirts, D.

Thanks!!! They will be a lot of fun to wear.

I'm sorry you are no longer getting the discounts on the GC's. I hope you can figure it all out. You have some time yet.

I hope so too - I am really nervous/annoyed about it.

I hope you were able to take off for your dad's and with no weather issues.

Have a great visit/weekend.

I did - it was a great weekend!! Thank you... I hope you had a nice weekend too.

wow well 2 pages later I was just teasing you about the poka dots. And if I couldn't I am sure some one would have really that's why you have fans. You can rely on us...

No worries... :thumbsup2 LOL Next time I will ask - for sure. :flower3:

Totally love all your skirts.

Have fun at your Dads.

Thanks Chiara! I think you need to make yourself a few too... I bet you could use the same pattern for skirts for both you and Miss C? That would be fun! :thumbsup2

Hi Lynee!!! I've been wondering how you are doing. Well, Alli and Gus are "back together" - sort of... They are not official yet, but they have plans to be once she has her 16th birthday (in - ahem - 15 days). It's been a refreshing thing for me to see them get to know eachother with out the pressure of being a couple. :lovestruc

Thanks about the bags. The Dismeets are so much fun - I love doing them any time I can! Take care - and I am so happy you checked in.

**********************************************************

Well, Alli and I went to my Dad's on Friday. The roads were good. We had great conversation on the way up. Gosh - have I told you all recently how much I love these girls and how proud I am of them? They blow my mind every day... It is possible I am biased - but I wouldn't trade them for anything! :lovestruc

We took my Dad to the craft store while we were there - when I was a little girl, he and my Mom used to make Rosaries together, and then they would donate them to local churches. Well, my dad has decided that this is something he would like to do again... So, we went to the craft store and purchased him a bunch of beads/wire... Now I have to go online and order the hardware for him.

Then we all went out for dinner - it was a nice dinner. ::yes:: And Dad took us out for Dairy Queen for dessert. I had no idea what to order - because I pretty much can't have any of it... I decided on a small cup of icecream. :confused3 Probably not the best choice - but of my available choices, I don't think I did bad. I could have opted to not have any at all, but I wanted some, so there. ::yes::

We went back to my Dad and watched Frozen... Dad watched it - Alli and I both fell asleep. :confused3 After - we had to really rearrange his livingroom/kitchen to get the hide-a-bed and blow up mattress to fit... eventually we made it work - but it was a tight squeeze.

We took my Dad to church yesterday morning, and then Alli and I met up with an old high school friend for Breakfast... It was a lot of fun meeting up with her. It was great to catch up on old friends and hear about her family - I was very close to her family through out my high school and college years, and I still hold a very special place for them in my heart.. But she is the only one on the internet, so it's not often I get to see or hear about any of them. I hope I can meet up with her more often, and maybe see the rest of her family over the summer?

Since it was Pot-luck at my Dad's church yesterday, Alli and I had extra time to kill after breakfast, so we went to the mall. Her birthday is coming up in a few weeks - her 16th birthday at that... So, we did a little pre-birthday present shopping. She really wanted a pair of Victoria's Secret sweat pants... So, I let her pick out a pair. They are really cute! :thumbsup2

Then we dropped Dad off and headed home. We had a safe and uneventful trip - which is exactly how I like them to be.

I wanted to add... I loved seeing all the wonderful cards and gifts you all sent for his birthday. My sincere apologies that I did not get any pictures this time - I had planned to, but then Alli and I fell asleep. Everything was just awesome - and again, he is just happier and happier every time I see him. It's so wonderful to see it!

Alli went out to a movie with Gus last night. It sounds like they had a lot of fun. Today, she has a huge dinner/theater night with her honors English class at school - I know - it's weird that it's on a Sunday... But it's a really special thing - and she is very excited about it.

I think the rest of us are just going to hang out all day. I might start to do some spring cleaning? Our front porch is starting to get cluttered with misc. stuff - and that sort of thing drives me crazy... But it's really difficult to bring things down to the shed when the snow drifts are 3 feet deep in the winter, so it's just a normal thing that the porch needs to be cleaned off each spring. :crazy2:

I managed to finish my custom order before I left for my Dad's on Friday - so I will be able to post pictures of that sometime today/tomorrow.

Otherwise... Everyone continues to be in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: I hope you all have a nice remainder to your weekend.

D~

How great that you got to visit your dad this weekend and meet an old friend :)
It's nice to hear that Alli and Gud are good friends.

Here nothing is saying us that it's spring. For me April isn't a spring month. May is. We have got a lot of snow and snow storms lately. We now have 1 meter of snow (about 3feet and 3 inches) a lot of roads are closed outside of the city because of the weather.

I have to add that in southern Norway they have spring and much higher temperatures than we have here up north.

I'm glad you had a good visit with your dad. I totally understand the not being able to put things away in winter. My Christmas lights are still on the front bushes. It's hard to take them off when there are snow drifts in front of them. the snow's finally melted but now it's muddy.
I worked yesterday. It was busy. Today we're going to my nieces for my great nephew's 2nd birthday. We have to go to Target first for a birthday present. Nothing like waiting til the last minute.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Liz

Love the skirts! They turned out awesome! Bummer on the GCs! But you're right, glad you got use of it while it lasted!! I wonder if they sell disc Disney GCs on one of those websites where you buy gift cards people don't want? Worth a look I guess! Glad you had a blast at your dads! Can't wait to see what bags you are cooking up for the auction! I bet those are the most fun for you since you get to pick everything, huh?! :)

I see you found the PTR...thanks.

I'm going to leave the TR open for a couple of more days so people can find the link for the TR and then I'll have them move it to the closed TR section.

I'm glad you had good weather for going up to see your dad (and back). And so happy that you had a good visit with him. How nice that he wants to make the rosaries again and is doing so well.

Can't wait to see the latest custom order.

Yes, it was a nice weekend and a nice visit. I agree - I am glad Alli and Gus are good friends. :thumbsup2

Yikes!!! I hope you get spring soon! Does it normally come in May for you?

Yup - it's impossible to get things put away in the winter. For that matter, I still have to clean out the back end of my car from when we moved my Dad back in January. :faint: It's just been too cold to get everything out and put away.

I hope you had fun at your nephew's birthday party. :wizard:

Thanks! Not sure about the GCs... At least we still get the 5% off - but to me, that's hardly worth the effort to call them in. LOL

Yah - I like doing auction bags, because I get to do what inspires me - but sometimes it also keeps me from doing auctions because I have to "feel" like doing it, and well - lately - there hasn't been much ambition. I plan on changing that in the coming weeks.

I see you found the PTR...thanks.

Glad to hear that Kathy - I plan to get over to your TR today to finish up. :lovestruc

Yes, I love that my dad is finding other interests, and enjoying life again. He was even talking about getting a pet while I was there... At first, I was like - uh-oh... but then I thought about it for a few seconds and I think it might be good for him. :scratchin He is allowed to have a cat or a small dog... We'll see...

**********************************************************

We had an enjoyable day yesterday...

I spent about 3 hours yesterday morning going through my walk-in closet/bin of clothes/dresser and completely gutted it all. I took 3 full garbage bags, 1 over flowing tall laundry basket and one large Target bag of clothes up to BFF's house. I promised her first dibs on all my old clothes. Thankfully, she is paying me for most of them, which was the deal in the first place - because I need the $$ to buy some smaller clothes. ::yes:: The ones she is not taking, I will go up in a few weeks and mark them for her garage sale. There will be some others that I plan to put on Ebay. Glad to have that done - I seriously had piles of clothes all over my room in no particular order, and I could never find anything.

While we were up at BFF's house - V and I ran to Kohls and Maurices to look for birthday gifts for Alli... We were able to find her something - which is good. Then V and I went out for lunch... It was lots of fun - and I enjoyed spending some one on one time with her - we haven't done much of that lately.

Allison had her play last night for her honors classes... She looked adorable - so I had Josh take a picture of us...

And then Josh made a bacon wrapped meatloaf on the smoker and roasted veggies on the grill... Mmmm.... Seriously - I called all the left-overs for myself. ::yes::

I will be working in my sewing room all day today. I will also have pictures posted later today of last week's custom order.

All of you have been in my thoughts and prayers recently... So many of you have asked and are struggling with things in your lives - please know that you are thought of often. :grouphug: I hope you all have a wonderful day. :lovestruc

Allison is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

plus i miss Josh's bbq.. YUMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Glad you dad had a Great birthday!!!

Cannot wait to see what your doing for the auction!!!! :flower3:

We ended up skipping Old Navy this weekend. They had a really good deal on cardigan sweaters, which I thought Peyton needed, but it turns out she has a couple so she is all set. We watched Frozen twice Saturday morning and I did a quick house clean, I didn't want DH to have to work a full day and then come home to a disaster of a house. We ended up getting over to my parents' house later than I'd intended but we still had a nice visit.

I've had a bit of a sore throat for awhile and some congestion. The pollen has been really bad, so I just assumed it was enough to get to me, even though I don't have allergy issues. Well, Saturday night I was up off and on with a runny nose and cough. Yesterday I woke up with a full blown cold and was just miserable. DH was awesome, he took the girls to visit his mom and to the Alligator Farm. I sat on the couch and cleared out a bunch on our DVR while I did our taxes. So excited that we'll actually be getting a refund this year instead of paying! I guess that's the silver lining of getting laid off and taking awhile to find a new job in 2013. I feel a little bit better today but I think Charlotte is getting sick now. I won't be too disappointed if I get a call from her school and she and I have to lay around and watch Frozen this afternoon! Although I don't want her to be sick.

Glad your dad is doing well and picking up an old hobby of his! That's a good sign that he's feeling much better and more like himself. Glad you guys had a nice visit.

Sounds like a great weekend with one on one time with each of your girls! I was drooling over you dinner on Facebook last night! How awesome to get all of your clothes cleaned out! I have some big clean out projects in mind, and aside from the cold, I'm pretty motivated to tackle them. I'm going to go to bed super early tonight, but maybe tomorrow I can start getting stuff off of my to-do list.

Love the pictures of you and Alli! Can't wait to see your latest creation!

If we get spring it comes late May. It's not uncommon that we get snow on 16th of May. I say if we get spring because often we go straight from winter to summer temperature. In both cases spring is short here.

It's a good idea to clean out the clothes that you don't use anymore. It makes more space for the clothes you do use. I really should do this myself. It's just so much easier to not to do it than to get into the bedroom and just get the job done. :headache:

D - I was going to PM you this morning, I am a pretty close to the vest person. But there are some things that stand out on everyone's posts to this awesome thread that made me realize I should just put my request out there for everyone. Most of the people who have kept up with your thread are Moms to children of various ages, and they believe in the power of prayer. And God has instructed us to call upon other Christians in time of need. I am not going to go into detail, but I need a lot of prayer for my youngest son. We have been dealing with a lot of issues these past few years with him; but yesterday a lot of things came to the forefront that were just devastating to me as his mother. Unfortunately, he and his Dad have a very strained relationship, so I cannot share this burden with him. It would only make things worse right now. I am just relying on prayer and the guidance of God and other people I am reaching out to today. Thank you all so much.

I'm so sorry to hear this! We, too, had serious problems concerning our oldest son. It took years, but he did turn himself around and is quite successful now. So, take heart. There is hope. And of course there is ALWAYS hope when you know God. I will add your son to my prayer list. Thank you for trusting us and sharing such a deeply painful problem and please keep us posted.

I don't want to be a buttinski, but I would urge you to watch Forks over Knives, Hungry for Change and Food Matters. These films changed the way I looked at medications, food and my ability to lose weight forever. There is a lot of information in each one, but you can take what works for you and ignore the rest or embrace the entire way of thinking. If you have Netflix, these are all available on there. If not, check your library. It's worth it! Blessings to you!:flower3:

D~ those skirts are darling! I am a big fan of the black and white one since accessorizing is so easy and the prints are so beautiful. The coral one is great too! Who knows, maybe your future Disney trips will be funded by you making garments for people!

I'm glad you got to go to your Dad's and that Alli was able to go with you. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. As far as the DQ, if you do 80/20 you'll be fine. In other words, 80% of time you are sticking with your eating plan. I think you do more like 95%!

I'm so glad your Dad is getting interested in an old hobby. That is such a great sign that he looks forward to each day. Just think. You are a large reason for that. That should make you feel so good.

It's too bad you can't use those extra discounts. I know it must have been such a shock. I am really glad you can do auctions to make up for it, even though it will be a lot of work for you. You seem to thrive on work, though.

I loved the pic of you and Alli!! You both looked so cute! And I love that you're wearing your shorts and flip flops as promised. Hope Alli had a good time at her play. (and glad she and Gus are almost back together!)

I got home from Virginia on Thursday and did absolutely nothing on Friday. We took my Mom and Dad out to eat for their anniversary (67th) and visited with them for a bit. I was still pretty tired, so we made it an early evening. Anyway, I am sitting here, missing my morning cuddles with the little ones. I guess I want it all!!

Have a great day in your sewing room and I hope to see the pics of the latest bag soon.

Whew:coffee:, I am finally all caught up! So glad to hear your Dad is enjoying his new place!

I LOVE the skirts! The black & white mirror fabric is great! I wish my local stores had more fabric like that.

LOVE the skirts! I do love wearing skirts and dresses in the summer. I have to sort of dress up for work, so skirts and dresses are a way to dress up and still be cool and comfortable in the summer. :goodvibes

So glad you had a good weekend, we did too. I love that the sun is shining again, and the temps are getting a bit warmer. It just really invigorates me. :beach:

We did a major cleaning to our front porch last week. Boy can it get messy during the winter months! :crazy2: Our porch runs the full length of our ranch style house, so it is LONG. :scared: It took us about two hours to sweep the whole thing, knock down the cobwebs, scrub down all the furniture, clean the windows, and shake out the door mats....but it looks so much better now! :thumbsup2

Ever since I made Suzi's UPB, I get a lot of requests for this theme, but so far this is the only other one I've made with a similar applique to her's. I really love the classic Disney feel to this bag - it's a lot of fun! :thumbsup2
