~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

Great before and after pictures!! You look great!!!

Glad Target worked with you and you were able to go with Allie.

Another fun bag!!! It does look great!!

Good Morning D!

Congratulations on the before and after pictures! I agree you look amazing and all your hard work is really paying off! I wish I was brave enough to post pictures of my progress (but since I am a chicken), maybe I will just send them to you.....

Love the new bag too!

Thanks Tasha! I would love to see your progress pictures if you are brave enough to send them. I am very excited that you may be meeting up with us while we are in Chicago!!!

Another skirt?!?! You are super productive - you're making me feel like a total slacker. But, I will remind myself that your girls are much older and self sufficient than mine are so our time at home with them is probably quite different. I don't imagine you were cleaning up after potty accidents, fighting about homework and baths, or unexpectedly changing sheets after an accident - well, maybe fighting about homework

I know... I have a sickness... I started a 3rd skirt last night... :rolleyes1

Yes, my girls are MUCH older and much more self sufficient... I remember those days - but I like the girls being independent too.

Hope you have a great day! I didn't get nearly enough done at work yesterday so I am slammed again today. Looking forward to the end of this week!

I hope your work week goes better.

I love the Cardinal book. I'm not a St. Louis fan. the Cardinal is our high school mascot and is seen all over the place here.

Can't say I am a Cardinals fan either... If anything - I am a Twins fan. :thumbsup2

I was inside most of yesterday. My daughter and niece took my almost 2 year old nephew to the park to play at the playground.

Sounds like fun!

I got to go out to the store's backyard to get a pallet jack sometime life isn't fair.

Do they store the extras outside?

I'm love to see how your skirts turned out.

I think I will post a sneak peek below.

Have a great day. I'm going to my mom's and them grocery shopping for both of us.
Liz

I hope you had a good grocery trip.

There is no licensed MLB fabric available. Used to be, but not anymore.

That explains why I couldn't find any. :rolleyes1

Kate told me that she loves the two-zip hipster I made for her and asked if I could make one a bit larger so she could put her ipad in it and in a baseball theme. This I can do! I have a plan.....

Awesome! I cannot wait to see it!

Another skirt! I need to get on the ball. I wear skirts or dresses a lot in the summer since they are cooler than slacks and dressier than capris for work. Not so much in the winter, since that walk from the parking lot to the office is windy and cold - and about 3 blocks long.

I know! I started a 3rd one last night... I think I have a problem. Now I need to find a reason to wear all these skirts! LOL Maybe I can be like Junie Cleaver, get out my pearls and wear all these skirts while I am sewing? popcorn::

Good morning D - all caught up (again); I did not get on in time to see your progress pics - can you PM them to me? I am so very proud of you! You should be proud of yourself D.

Hi Carol! Sure, I can PM them to you. :thumbsup2 Sorry I took them down so quickly - but I am half dressed and I have issues posting things like that.

Love the shoes - keep the red! They will always go with something. But I vote blue for the skirt.

Figures... Now I have to figure out how I am going to explain all these shoes to Josh... That's going to be the hardest part!

D - I was going to PM you this morning, I am a pretty close to the vest person. But there are some things that stand out on everyone's posts to this awesome thread that made me realize I should just put my request out there for everyone. Most of the people who have kept up with your thread are Moms to children of various ages, and they believe in the power of prayer. And God has instructed us to call upon other Christians in time of need. I am not going to go into detail, but I need a lot of prayer for my youngest son. We have been dealing with a lot of issues these past few years with him; but yesterday a lot of things came to the forefront that were just devastating to me as his mother. Unfortunately, he and his Dad have a very strained relationship, so I cannot share this burden with him. It would only make things worse right now. I am just relying on prayer and the guidance of God and other people I am reaching out to today. Thank you all so much.

Oh Carol. This saddens me... Of course you have my prayers. I hope that whatever it is that's going on, there will be a resolution with out much hurt - and it's even harder if there is a strained relationship with a parent. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and if there is anything else I can do - please don't hesitate to ask.

Have a wonderful day D - sending prayers and hugs to you and your family and Dad.

Thank you Carol. Same to you. I am planning to go up to my Dad's tomorrow - but we are in a winter storm warning - so we will see how the roads are then.

D, I couldn't see your progress photos but you are a big inspiration to me. I'm trying. I got frustrated went off the bandwagon when things got really busy and tough at home but slowly getting back on.

I sent them via PM on FB... Hopefully they loaded there - I was having issues on my end. You can do this Erin... It's not about being perfect - it's about perseverence. :thumbsup2

Great before and after pictures!! You look great!!!

Glad Target worked with you and you were able to go with Allie.

Another fun bag!!! It does look great!!

Thanks Sandra - for everything!

**********************************************************

I worked in my sewing room all day yesterday. I was able to get a lot accomplished. I am missing one thing for my applique - so I think I will be doing this bag "out of order" from what I normally do, so I don't have to make 2 trips to town today.

I started a 3rd skirt last night... I know - I am pretty sure I have a skirt sickness. Now I have dreams of making one (or 6) for Disney... :rolleyes1 Seriously... I am a DENIM person - I am NOT a skirt person... So, I better wear these. I did take a couple of quick pictures yesterday morning - I posted them on FB, but I thought I would post them here too... Forgive the awkward photos - I had to stand on my tippy-toes to get the bottom hems into the pictures...

I do have to say... I love the fabrics of the coral/blue skirt - but I think I love the black/white skirt better. :confused3 That is the tank top I plan to wear with the coral/blue skirt - but I plan to wear my jean jacket over the top of it. I purposfully made the black/white skirt so I would have a skirt to go with the red shoes... I just love how it turned out - I adore the black/white mirror image fabrics. And now I have a 3rd one in the works too... To go with the red shoes... Yup - it's a sickness! I must be done after this, for a while... I am a bit worried that they will be too big by the time I can wear them, so I will have to rip them apart and make them smaller.

I am planning to head up to my Dad's tomorrow for the weekend. But we are in a winter storm warning through tomorrow morning, so I am really going to have to play it by ear and see how the roads are. It's main interstates most of the way, so we'll see... Alli is planning to go with me - she hasn't been up since Christmas.

**********************************************************

Just a quick - sad - trip update... Some of you may have heard the news... I can no longer get my Team Memeber/Pharmacy Rewards discount on Disney GCs... This saddens me greatly - as I am no where near being close to being paid off, this is a HUGE set back in our trip budget. A trip I've been struggling to pay for in the first place. I will keep you all updated, but it was such a bummer... However - I am happy I was able to use it for as long as I was able to. Hopefully I am able to find a way to make it all work out.

I hope you all have a marvelous day... My prayers are with all who have asked for them... And my good thoughts go out to everyone else.

D~

Love the Cardinals bag....two nice combinations. A bag from D~ and the best team in baseball!!! That's a win-win.

Super proud of your lifting and eating efforts, they sure are paying off. Congrats!!

Sorry they discontinued those discounts for you. We were just excited to use our red card to buy Disney gift cards for the upcoming trip.

Will this Winter. Ever. End......ugghhhh! It was warm here for a couple days, but has turned back to cold again. Travel safe and have a great time with your Dad.

I love the black and white skirt, too! I love colors but this fabric is very classy. You definitely need to wear your skirts in Disney. You will look so cute and think how cool and comfortable they will be in August. :)

That is too bad about the extra discount being discontinued for the Disney gift cards. :sad2: Is Target still going to give 5% off when using the red card?

I love the black & white skirt! It's a great length and looks fabulous on you! Way to go...plus it's Disney colors. I say keep making skirts so you can get more cute sandals! :thumbsup2

Christine

Nice skirts you have made :)

I hope the weather doesn't get too bad this weekend so you will be able to visit your dad.

I'm sorry to hear that they discontinued the discount for the Disney gift cards. I hope you still will be able to pay for your trip.

Ummmmm....no. I HAVE lots of skirts, but not MAKING one. Hahaha...that's funny Mo!

i know mine would look as if it were made for a Garbage pail kid or zombie then for a human to wear..

As i said on Facebook i am loving your skirts.. I believe Suzi said you can wear it to Chilis... :lmao:

What happened with the GC?!?!?! that's horrible news!!!

I love the skirts.
I had heard that target stopped the pharmacy rewards on the gc, i know how that has to suck.

I think we are going to by a $150 pack of gc at BJ's for $145 every month between now and our trip. It hopefully will be enough to pay for the food. I jsut have to check how it would work with DVC and paying for the DDP with the GCs.

I love both skirts! The coral/blue is my favorite - I just love that fabric. I wonder if you'd be more productive sewing in a June Cleaver get up :confused3 Sounds like it would be fun!

Hope you get to enjoy your visit with your dad this weekend. I don't think I could ever live anywhere with so much winter! I was able to send both girls to school yesterday and today in short sleeves and skirts (with a jacket for the morning). I've also been in capris and flip flops the last couple of weekends. Hope you guys get some Spring soon!

Bummer about not being able to use your discount on Disney gift cards anymore! I hope you'll still be able to make the trip work.

I got everything done at work yesterday that absolutely had to be done - although I did have to stay until 6 to do it. The rest of the week should be much better. Loose ends to tie up but not quite as much pressure.

Have a great day!

Sorry Target stopped letting you use your discount on Disney gcs. I hope you can figure out something.
Both your skirts are cute but I like the black and white one better.
Normally, we don't keep pallet jacks outside but they're redoing housewares. There are so many pallets on the floor in that backroom that we had to put the pallet jacks and other stuff outside.
While I was shopping at the Supercenter yesterday, I stopped by photo to see the printer because that store has the same one we're getting. The associate gave me a quick lesson on how it works. It was really nice of her to take the time as she'd nice seen me before.
I have to go to Sam's to get stuff for the wedding today before work.
I hope everyone has a good day and prayers for everyone that needs them.
Liz

Cute skirts!!

Bummer about the lack of discount on the gift cards. :( My mom texted me last night that she bought a bunch of Disney GCs at the grocery store when it was running 4x fuel points. She she filled up 2 cars with gas at 2.63 per gallon with her points. Maybe something like that could be an option in the future? Save on gas and put the difference in your Disney budget? Probably not nearly as great a savings, but maybe it could cushion the blow some.

I finally updated this morning with my latest completed outfits for our trip. :)

Well, if you are going to dress up like June Cleaver in pearls and a skirt, don't forget the heels! :rotfl2:

Carol - prayers for your son. I had two rather challenging kids too, but with help, we got through those years all intact. You will too.

Bummer about the gcs. I know its tight this year anyway.

Woot Woot:banana: Guess what came in the mail today!!! My Cardinal bag, it is perfect:love: I am going to have to learn to post pictures on here so I can share a photo of opening day:woohoo:

I love both skirts, especially the black & white one. You are looking amazing, my first thought was your DH is probably loving the look also:thumbsup2

I was thinking (Greedy, Greedy thoughts:laughing:) about all the purses & accessories you have made (and wishing I was on the list for next year). My favorites that I wish were mine: Orange Goofy w/ribbon, Dumbo Fantasyland, Crush, Lilo

I hope the weather doesn't end up bad and you get to go see your Dad!

Monica

The skirts are great! I love both the fabric choices!

I ordered a book at school today called One Yard Wonders, all projects that only use one yard of fabric. It even comes with all the patterns. I can't wait to get it! I've been making a bunch of the essential wristlets. People at work saw them and now everyone expects one for their birthday. I'm working on 7 right now, then I'll be done for a while!

I hope you get to go see your dad, tell him I said hello!

Great job on the skirts!! I think my favorite is the white/black one

Oh no about the discounts Hope your able to swing and still be able to pay for your trip.

Hope you have a great time with your dad and Allie.

Love the Cardinals bag....two nice combinations. A bag from D~ and the best team in baseball!!! That's a win-win.

Hahaha... Glad you like it!

Super proud of your lifting and eating efforts, they sure are paying off. Congrats!!

Thanks Mike! I am feeling awesome, and I am sure liking the rewards... I'd like more rewards, but I feel great - so that's what matters most. :thumbsup2

Sorry they discontinued those discounts for you. We were just excited to use our red card to buy Disney gift cards for the upcoming trip.

I know- it's such a bummer. I believe the Red Card discounts on the Disney GCs are still valid, so that's better than nothing, but it still makes me so sad that I lose my other discounts.

Will this Winter. Ever. End......ugghhhh! It was warm here for a couple days, but has turned back to cold again. Travel safe and have a great time with your Dad.

I am beginning to wonder the same thing. Sigh. Most of our snow was gone - we just had the remaning piles in the ditches... Then - WHAM! 7+" last night... :scared:

I love the black and white skirt, too! I love colors but this fabric is very classy. You definitely need to wear your skirts in Disney. You will look so cute and think how cool and comfortable they will be in August.

Thanks Sue! I do really like the black and white one a lot - and I love that I can wear it with almost anything.

That is too bad about the extra discount being discontinued for the Disney gift cards. Is Target still going to give 5% off when using the red card?

I know - it makes me so sad. As far as I know the Target Card 5% still works on them, I have not purchased one in a few weeks, but I will let you all know.

I love the black & white skirt! It's a great length and looks fabulous on you! Way to go...plus it's Disney colors. I say keep making skirts so you can get more cute sandals!

Christine

Hahaha... I love the way you think. Gotta stop buying sandals for a while... It's not helping my Disney fund at all.

Nice skirts you have made

I hope the weather doesn't get too bad this weekend so you will be able to visit your dad.

I'm sorry to hear that they discontinued the discount for the Disney gift cards. I hope you still will be able to pay for your trip.

Thanks LIllian. Well, we received about 7" of snow last night - and we had rain under it... I have a feeling that the roads are going to be awful today. I will play it by ear this afternoon and see if they get any better.

I hope so too - I am sure I will... I just need to devote some time to making some auciton bags... and a few extras to make up for no discounts.

i know mine would look as if it were made for a Garbage pail kid or zombie then for a human to wear..

Hahaha.... This cracked me up.

As i said on Facebook i am loving your skirts.. I believe Suzi said you can wear it to Chilis...

LOL I think I could wear a skirt to Chilis. :thumbsup2

What happened with the GC?!?!?! that's horrible news!!!

Not sure? All I know is that I don't get a discount on them anymore. So sad.

I love the skirts.
I had heard that target stopped the pharmacy rewards on the gc, i know how that has to suck.

Yah - it's such a bummer. It really affects my trip and how hard I have to work. I guess I need to quit making skirts and actually start some auction stuff to get this one paid off.

I think we are going to by a $150 pack of gc at BJ's for $145 every month between now and our trip. It hopefully will be enough to pay for the food. I jsut have to check how it would work with DVC and paying for the DDP with the GCs.

Not sure how it works with DDP? I would call Disney on that one.

I love both skirts! The coral/blue is my favorite - I just love that fabric. I wonder if you'd be more productive sewing in a June Cleaver get up Sounds like it would be fun!

Hahaha... Maybe that's what I need to do to get some auction bags done? :scratchin

Thanks! Yah - I don't enjoy living here much either. I offered to Josh - several years ago - to move to FL... And I continue to offer - but it's not going so well in my favor. :confused3

Bummer about not being able to use your discount on Disney gift cards anymore! I hope you'll still be able to make the trip work.

I hope so too - it just means I need to work harder.

I got everything done at work yesterday that absolutely had to be done - although I did have to stay until 6 to do it. The rest of the week should be much better. Loose ends to tie up but not quite as much pressure.

Have a great day!

Glad to hear you were able to have a productive work day yesterday - that always feels good!

Sorry Target stopped letting you use your discount on Disney gcs. I hope you can figure out something.

Well... I just have to work harder and make more. LOL Oh well... I have a small portion of GCs here already - just bummed that I couldn't have finished off this trip. Oh well...

Both your skirts are cute but I like the black and white one better.

Thanks - me too! ;)

Normally, we don't keep pallet jacks outside but they're redoing housewares. There are so many pallets on the floor in that backroom that we had to put the pallet jacks and other stuff outside.

Ahhh, got it. :thumbsup2

While I was shopping at the Supercenter yesterday, I stopped by photo to see the printer because that store has the same one we're getting. The associate gave me a quick lesson on how it works. It was really nice of her to take the time as she'd nice seen me before.

That was very nice of her. I hope this new machine makes everything easier on you.

I have to go to Sam's to get stuff for the wedding today before work.
I hope everyone has a good day and prayers for everyone that needs them.
Liz

Have a great day Liz! And thank you.

Cute skirts!!

Thanks!

Probably not nearly as great a savings, but maybe it could cushion the blow some.

Yah - not quite as good as my 18% savings, but I will have to start thinking outside the box a little bit more. Thanks for the idea - I will be looking into something like that.

I finally updated this morning with my latest completed outfits for our trip.

I saw that! They turned out fantastic! :cool1:

Well, if you are going to dress up like June Cleaver in pearls and a skirt, don't forget the heels!

Hahaha... Not sure what's more comical... THe pearls or the heels?

Carol - prayers for your son. I had two rather challenging kids too, but with help, we got through those years all intact. You will too.

Bummer about the gcs. I know its tight this year anyway.

Yes, it is a tight year. Sigh. At least I have FD... I just need to get to work on my auction bags, and make a few extra to cover the lack of discounts. popcorn::

Woot WootGuess what came in the mail today!!! My Cardinal bag, it is perfect:love: I am going to have to learn to post pictures on here so I can share a photo of opening day

Awesome! Glad you received it so quickly! Can't wait to see a photo of opening day with it!

I love both skirts, especially the black & white one. You are looking amazing, my first thought was your DH is probably loving the look also

Thanks Monica... Hahaha... I don't think DH has noticed yet? :confused3

I was thinking (Greedy, Greedy thoughts) about all the purses & accessories you have made (and wishing I was on the list for next year). My favorites that I wish were mine: Orange Goofy w/ribbon, Dumbo Fantasyland, Crush, Lilo

LOL Thanks... Yah - some of those are my favorites too. :thumbsup2

I hope the weather doesn't end up bad and you get to go see your Dad!

Monica

Thanks - we have about 7" of fresh snow on the ground this morning... Thankfully it's late in the year - so it shouldn't stick around long.

I just found your pre-trip report! Following along!

Welcome! So happy to have you here! :cheer2:

The skirts are adorable!! You look great! Keep up the hard work.

Thanks! It's been a lot of dedication and persistance, but very life altering!

The skirts are great! I love both the fabric choices!

Thanks Stephanie!

That's awesome! I would love to see pictures - did you post them somewhere?

I hope you get to go see your dad, tell him I said hello!

Thank you - me too... I will pass along your hellos.

Great job on the skirts!! I think my favorite is the white/black one

Thanks! I agree... I like the fabrics on the other one too - but there's something about the black/white one that I really love.

Oh no about the discounts Hope your able to swing and still be able to pay for your trip.

I am sure I will be able to - I just need to get to work on my auctions.

Hope you have a great time with your dad and Allie.

Thank you - I am sure we will. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

I had a good day in my sewing room yesterday. I am working on this bag in reverse order - so that makes things a little interesting. But I didn't want to fall behind. I plan to work on the applique this morning, and then do some of the remaining assembly prep. I hope to do the final assembly too - but I am not sure I will get that far?

I still need to pack for my dad's... I need to stop at the bank on my way out of town and get his bills paid. Then I have to grab Alli...

That is - if we go. I need to watch the weather carefully and make sure the roads are OK for travel. They should be good by this afternoon, but we will see.

Otherwise - nothing else exciting. I have the next few weekends blocked off to begin working on my auction bags for our trip... I am now feeling the heat to get it paid off... Which is probably a good thing - I was being a little too relaxed about it this time, and I needed a swift kick...

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Many of you have asked for prayers recently - please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Many hugs to all of you! :grouphug:

D~
