~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

Day5photobucketcorrectcopy.jpg

I am very excited about this day! The girls and I had so much fun at the water parks last year... And this year, I am wearing a smaller (cuter) swimsuit... So, it should be a GREAT time!

We will have to leave the water park at about 2:30ish, so we can take the bus back to our resort, change, then hop a bus to the MK- where we will hop the monorail to CM's.

This will be our first ever ADR at Chef Mickey's, and I am excited to finally eat there. I hope it doesn't become a must do for us, as we have enough of those already. LOL ::yes::

D~

How nice that your dad has his own little garden. Sounds like you had a nice trip yesterday. How great that you got to meet some family while visiting your uncle at the hospital even if the circumstances wasn't nice.

Hahaha... Well, it appears, I've forgotten to post Day 4... So, you get a "two-fer". :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Day4correctPhotobucket.jpg

Today is an early AK day for us... We have one of our "must-do" ADRs this morning... An early breakfast ressie at Tusker House... There is nothing better than early entry to AK... Except for early entry to MK. ::yes::

The plan, for this day... Hopefully... We will eat breakfast, and be one of the first in line for the safari. I hope to have a FP+ for EE later, but we will ride it single rider round n' round until our FP+ comes around... BFF also wants to do KRR - since this is one she did not get to do on her other trip... Not sure if we can hold a FP+ for that and EE at the same time? I will need to research. We also have plans to see the Nemo show (none of us have ever seen that one)... I would like to see FOLK too, since it's tradition for us. Then, there is the characters... Both BFF and V love doing that (so do I), so we will do those too... If we happen to get done with AK early (doubtful), we might head back to the resort and maybe do some DTD or hit a water park, depending on how we feel. Otherwise, we may take the night off since, I am sure we will be exhausted by this point in our trip. I hate that we don't have the time to take a day off. :faint: It will be go, go, go in the August heat.

D~

I'm glad your dad is home and doing better. I still can't believe that no one ever called you to let you know that he was in the hospital. He looks so happy working in his little garden. It's nice that the place he lives gives each of the residents a little plot.
My daughter was over yesterday. She helped clean up the garage and started emptying the pool so it can be cleaned and refilled. I'm not sure when she and she husband will be over today. They're going to a Civil War reenactment in a nearby town.
I don't have any plans today except weeded the garden after that I'll probably sit outside and read.
I hope everyone has a great holiday tomorrow and prayers to all that need them.
Liz

Oh D, I had tears in my eyes at those pictures of your Dad with his garden! So adorable! And I love the little DoDo bird :) What a great visit, and. I'm sure he knows now that you didn't abandon him. You have proven yourself over and over with him....he knows :)

So sorry that your dad was hospitalized and that you didn't even know! I would be so upset if I were in your situation. Do you feel like your dad understands that they dropped the ball? I am just so sorry that this happened to you.

What did your dad plant in his garden? He looks very happy! :thumbsup2

Glad you got to make a fun time of the drive.

Still praying for your uncle and family.

Hope you have a great rest of your weekend! We had a Memorial Day party at my friend's house yesterday. It was a blast but a late night with a lot of adult beverages. I am still dragging a bit today ;) The girls and I will be heading over to my parents' house for a visit and a swim soon - DH has to work :faint: Tomorrow I think the 4 of us are sticking close to home. And I am making the very traditional Memorial Day meal of chicken fajitas. ::yes:: Got to get this house straightened up so we can get out of here!

I'd say give yourselves 2 1/2 to 3 hours if you want to stop and pour over each amazing item in the exhibit, maybe 1 to 1 1/2 hours if you wanted to just focus on parts. The rest of the museum has a lot of fun exhibits too - the Science of Storms being one of the most recent. Try the wind tunnel!

We are going to go to Blizzard Beach this next trip! Charlie wants to try the lazy river.

AK does not have tiers for fp+ so you can get fp+ for each ride. :cheer2:

We went to my son Steven and his wife Melissa's house for a cookout and crabs today. His dad and stepmom were there also. It was a very good time.
Yesterday I spent sewing. I needed to finish up a few things....

Glad your Dad is doing better. His garden is adorable. I love the garden "jewelry" Josh picked up for him.

3 DAYS!!!!!:grouphug:

That's nuts that they didn't call you about your dad's hospital visit but I'm glad you had a nice time with him and that he's feeling better! Trust me, I know what it feels like to be skeptical of nurses/doctors/etc.

That photo of you and your husband is so cute!

I agree - I thought it was so sweet! And, yes, it was very nice to be able to see some family - I miss them all so much because we live so far away.

Sounds like a nice plan for your AK day

Thanks! I am praying for a cold-snap in FL. in August. ::yes::

Thank you Liz... I am still very angry about it.

I was surprised at the garden plot... I don't think that everyone gets a plot - I think it's a lottery and they draw names from those who are interested?

I hope you were able to get the pool cleaned and filled. How fun!!! I've always wanted to see a Civil War reenactment.

I hope you enjoyed your day yesterday. :lovestruc

I hope so... I always worry. Josh found that dodo bird, and loved it. :lovestruc I love seeing pictures of my Dad so happy - I just wish he didn't still sound so "off" to me. :worried:

I think he understands? But I am not certain... It's hard to tell because he doesn't seem to be his normal chipper self right now. He still seems quite "flat"... I don't know how else to explain it? Sometimes there is a lot of emotion in his voice and other times, he sounds really "spacey". If that makes any sense? I am having a hard time putting my finger on it.

My dad planted 4 tomato plants... 2 rows of radishes and 1 row of green onions. :smokin:

Sounds like you had a great time at the party. ::yes:: And I hope you enjoyed your swim... It's supposed to be super hot and humid here today, so I am sure a pool would feel fantastic - if we had one ::yes:: Enjoy your fajitas!!! They are my favorite!

Oh - I am sure we will want to explore every inch of it. :lovestruc We have a similar "storm" exhibit in one of our local museums... They put you in a "basement" and send the tornado after you... After being in two tornados in my lifetime - I have no desire to experience a third, whether real or fake. :headache: So, I think I will sit that one out. LOL

Oooh - the lazy river is awesome! I could go round n' round on that all day long! Just be careful of the bottom - remember, that's how I scraped the top of my foot off last year. :thumbsup2

I am so happy to hear about the no tiers for AK... That makes things easier... I wish they would get rid of the tiering all together. It's so annoying.

Sounds like you had a great time at your son's... Crab sounds delicious right now.

I know - I have a few things I want to finish up too... I hope to do it today. ::yes::

Thanks! He is very excited about his garden, I hope it does well.

Make that 2 days!!!!! :woohoo: I can barely contain myself!

I know - I am still very upset about it. But yes, we did have a nice visit... I think he is feeling better - but he still seems to be very drained. He did sound a bit perkier yesterday - not a bunch, but some. I am a little worried about that.

Thanks... I wish you could see DH's expression better, MM was trying to jump up on his lap...

**********************************************************

We had a nice day yesterday.

I worked in my sewing room for a few hours in the morning.

Then, I laid out on the back deck for a while... Tanned my backside, and about 5 minutes after I turned over to do my front, our perfectly cloudless summer day turned into a complete cloudy day. Oh well - I am still a little burnt on the front from the Jeep ride the other day, so it's just as well.

So, I joined Josh out in the big garden... He was just finishing up tilling it when I got there. So, I helped him do the planting... We did tomatoes, brussels sprouts (my fav), beans, yellow zucchini, green zucchini squash, onions (which actually came up from last year... :confused3), baking pumpkins... We still have to plant seeds - so... rainbow carrots, peas and one other thing - I can't remember. Oh, and the sweet potato plants are on order, but they aren't here yet.

He was also able to get the little salad garden in our yard tilled... We usually plant lettuce (we stage 3 different rows through out the summer) & baby tomatoes. Then, that's also where we have our rhubarb and strawberries. ::yes::

I am VERY excited about both gardens... If you all only knew how much I spend on veggies every month - it's truly insane! ::yes:: I cannot wait until the plants start producing. :woohoo:

For those of you who are "new" to my PTR... Every summer, some of the neighbors and us rent a 1/4 acre plot from one of the local farmers, and we split it between all of us for a community garden. This is our 3rd or 4th summer doing this. It works out well, it's a LOT of work - but it seems to be getting easier.

As long as we are on the subject of food... ::yes:: Allison is doing very well on her "no wheat"... She told me yesterday that she's cheated a few times, but I tried to explain to her that it's not really cheating... Just making better choices most of the time is going to have a profound effect on her. I keep reading TONS of Paleo success stories where multiple skin conditions have been completely healed by ditching wheat... Psoriasis, exzema, acne... And I have to agree - as an adult who has struggled with acne my entire life, I am shocked and amazed that I have the best complexion I have ever had. So, I have no doubt that adjusting her diet will be very helpful to her.

So... Today... Well it's Monday - and since I leave for Chicago in 2 days... :woohoo: I don't have a custom order scheduled for this week. So, I am hoping to finish Auction bag #8 today, and start Auction bag #9 tomorrow... The problem being... I won't be able to get a ton of #9 done before I leave, as I have a hair appointment tomorrow afternoon, and I am hoping for a mani/pedi appointment too... I still need to call for one. But it's my hope to get #9 cut out/quilted and have the applique stitched before I leave... popcorn::

I forgot to post this picture the other day... It's me wearing one of my favorite belts... I was not able to touch this belt end to end around my waist one year ago... Now it is too big on the final hole, and because of the decoration on the belt, I cannot punch anymore holes. Bummer...

20140522_082436.jpg

Alrighty.... I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Memorial Day with your family and friends - I hope the weather is gorgeous where ever you are. Prayers, hugs and Pixie Dust to all. :grouphug:

D~

Wow! It is a shame your favorite belt doesn't work, but what a triumph! I have really bad eczema, I never thought about diet affecting that. I will have to look into that!

How nice to have a vegetable garden.

I'm glad to hear that Alli is doing well with her new diet.
What a shame that your favorite belt doesn't fit anymore. But I guess that's really a good thing. Congratulations with that :D

Well the pool is empty but still needs the bottom cleaned.
You so lucky to be able to have a garden. I've tried to have one. It's not that the vegetables don't grow, the deer eat everything. This year I have a tomato plant in a pot. I still have strawberries but I have to put lawn furnature around them every night.
I'm glad to hear that Alli's trying to eat right. Hopefully she'll stick to it.
I have to work today but I hope everyone enjoys the holiday.

Yah - it's a bummer, but a definite visual to how far I have come.

I would certainly look into your diet affecting your eczema... It may help and it may not, but I feel anything natural is worth a try, at least. :thumbsup2

Yes, I am very excited about the garden, especially if it produces everything we want it to. :thumbsup2

Yes, she is doing very well, so far. Today is her first day at school with it, o we'll see.

Thanks Lillian, it is a bummer, but it's a great visual to see how far I have come. :lovestruc

Well, hopefully the bottom is easy to clean... I've never had to clean one, so I am not sure...

Ahhh... Yes, we don't get a lot of deer in this area... We've lived in this house for almost 8 years, and we saw our very first deer last week. But there are bunnies, and they LOVE the garden.

Alli is doing great - I hope she is able to stick to it, even if it's just a "most of the time" thing.

I hope you had a good day at work and a nice Memoral Day. :wizard:

**********************************************************

I worked in my sewing room yesterday morning for a while. I finally finished Auction bag #8... I really love it... As I may have said - it's a princess theme, and I don't often do princesses - especially for auctions... but I just love this princess, so I was very excited to finally do a bag with her theme! :lovestruc

Then, Josh and I went out to finish planting the big garden and spread grass clippings (to hold in moisture) around the new plants. Yesterday, he planted Yellow and red onions, acorn squash and table ace squash, peas... And, I think that's it. Other than the rainbow carrots and sweet potatoes, I think the big garden is planted. :thumbsup2

Gus stopped by for a little while, after him and Alli went to the Water Park of America (right next to the MOA - hence the name)... They had a good time, but the WPoA was "boring"... :confused3

Josh made a wonderful dinner of steaks on the grill! It was heavenly... You all know how I feel about beef. :lovestruc

Then.... Sigh.... The fiasco with my Chicago trip happened...

I logged on to Suncountry.com to pay my baggage fees... Paid them... When the page refreshed with my confirmation - I noticed it had my outbound flight for Thursday NOT tomorrow (Wednesday) which I had originally booked. I freaked out!!!!!!!! THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING! Not 2 days before I am supposed to leave! So, I called them (praying they were open on a holiday...), found out they tried to call me back in April and left me a message (which I didn't get) to let me know they had cancelled my flight (and every other flight from MSP to Chicago on Tues and Wed for infinity) and rebooked me on the next available flight. This did NOT work for our plans at all... I was nearly in tears. Josh was ready to take off of work on Wednesday and drive me to Chicago. OK D~, calm down... Breathe... Call Mo... No answer... Call Suzi... Suzi is the rational one... :lovestruc She helped me search for other flights... While she was doing that, Josh was checking our budget/savings to see if we could free up some cash to pay for the extra cost of a last minute flight... WHOOT! :woohoo: He was able to do so... So, I rebooked my outbound flight with Southwest, and paid 4x more for this flight than I paid for my original flight. But - I get to Chicago on Wednesday, and none of our plans are wrecked. :wizard: I am a little nervous to fly Southwest, since I have never flown with them before... I did splurge and pay the $16 extra for a business fare - which gets me priority boarding and a free drink... Not sure if I will drink the free drink - or I will be useless and want to pass out when I hit Chicago... But I thought - at this late stage, priority boarding was worth the $16. So, all is not lost everyone... I am still going to Chicago and I will be there on time. :wizard:

So, now that my flight leaves 2 hours earlier... I am feeling a bit frantic. LOL Yah - I know - it's only 2 hours... I was hoping to start Auction Bag #9 today... And I still hope to, but I don't think I will get as far into it as I want to before I leave...

Today's plan... I will work out as soon as the girls are on the bus this morning... Then I will work in my sewing room for a few hours... I have to go to town, I need to hit the bank and Target... Then I am hoping to have the time for a mani/pedi... Afterwards is my cut/color... Which won't put me home until dinner time. So, today is shot.

I am mostly packed, except for last minute items... Which is good at this point.

Tomorrow... I will lift in the morning... I might be able to work in my sewing room for a little while... I need to be in the shower by 10:30am and ready to leave by Noon. Josh is taking off of work to bring me to the airport, I have to be there by 1ish and my flight now leaves at 3pm... Which puts me in Chicago at 4:30. :wizard:

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: 1 more day!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Have a wonderful day everyone! Sending out prayers to everyone! :grouphug:

D~

It would have been nice of Suncountry.com to mail the new itinerary to you when they switched your flight like that. I am always nervous when the communications are by email or phone only. We had our non-stop flight to Hawaii cancelled and re-booked as as a one stop flight, which was frustrating. But for you to have the day changed without giving you proper notice is unacceptable. Will they refund your money?

Have a great time in Chicago. It is supposed to be pretty good weather here. :)

OMGoodness~ What a CRAZY fiasco with your Chicago flights!!! :scared1: So glad Josh was so sympathetic and understanding. Glad you got it worked out! See, I would just be super excited to get there two hours earlier, not stressed about it. :lmao: You are such a hard worker, D~...ENJOY your time with the girls!!!! :dance3:

I can't wait to see all the auction bags.

I can understand that you got stressed when you noticed that your flight was changed. I would freak out if that happened to me without me noticing it until a few days before my flight.
I'm glad it worked out in the end even if the ticket price was a lot more than you first planned.

Have a great trip :goodvibes

Gosh a lot has happend this weekend for you!

Loved your Dad's adorable Garden!!!

THankfully i keep up with you on a daily basis otherwise i would have been lost here!!!

Tomorrow BABY!!!! it's ON!

Hey there D - your garden sounds awesome!! We have a ton of deer where we live, I can't even plant flowers; they eat everything; its so depressing; the HO rules state that you can't shoot the deer, so they have multiplied like crazy in the 18 years we have been there; so, no fresh veggie garden or flowers for me.

We always fly Southwest whenever we can; free bags! And their service is great; believe or not we have a very small airport here in San Antonio; no Jet Blue, no Virgin, and I will not fly American no matter what (long story); I can't believe they did not email you and let you of the changes; it is so frustrating to pay full price for airfare; I feel your pain; but, YOU ARE LEAVING TOMORROW!!! How exciting!!!! And yes, we want lots of pics.

I love the pics of your Dad; his garden plot will keep him busy, I glad he was picked! His card is in the mail; I am a little worried about his fogginess; I hope he is just tired and needs rest; please keep us informed.

My road trip; we have a lot of points on our travel credit card, so we splurged; we are flying to San Francisco the evening of Shane's graduation; spend a day as a tourist in San Francisco; then on the road to Nevada to see Hoover Dam; then Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon and Zion Park in Utah; then the north side of Grand Canyon, on to Sedona, Arizona; then flying out of Phoenix back to home; all in 8 days; whew.

Good luck with errands and packing and tying up loose ends in your sewing room!!!

Hugs and prayers!! Carol
