How nice that your dad has his own little garden. Sounds like you had a nice trip yesterday. How great that you got to meet some family while visiting your uncle at the hospital even if the circumstances wasn't nice.
I agree - I thought it was so sweet! And, yes, it was very nice to be able to see some family - I miss them all so much because we live so far away.
Sounds like a nice plan for your AK day
Thanks! I am praying for a cold-snap in FL. in August.
I'm glad your dad is home and doing better. I still can't believe that no one ever called you to let you know that he was in the hospital. He looks so happy working in his little garden. It's nice that the place he lives gives each of the residents a little plot.
My daughter was over yesterday. She helped clean up the garage and started emptying the pool so it can be cleaned and refilled. I'm not sure when she and she husband will be over today. They're going to a Civil War reenactment in a nearby town.
I don't have any plans today except weeded the garden after that I'll probably sit outside and read.
I hope everyone has a great holiday tomorrow and prayers to all that need them.
Liz
Thank you Liz... I am still very angry about it.
I was surprised at the garden plot... I don't think that everyone gets a plot - I think it's a lottery and they draw names from those who are interested?
I hope you were able to get the pool cleaned and filled. How fun!!! I've always wanted to see a Civil War reenactment.
I hope you enjoyed your day yesterday.
Oh D, I had tears in my eyes at those pictures of your Dad with his garden! So adorable! And I love the little DoDo bird

What a great visit, and. I'm sure he knows now that you didn't abandon him. You have proven yourself over and over with him....he knows
I hope so... I always worry. Josh found that dodo bird, and loved it.

I love seeing pictures of my Dad so happy - I just wish he didn't still sound so "off" to me.
So sorry that your dad was hospitalized and that you didn't even know! I would be so upset if I were in your situation. Do you feel like your dad understands that they dropped the ball? I am just so sorry that this happened to you.
What did your dad plant in his garden? He looks very happy!
Glad you got to make a fun time of the drive.
Still praying for your uncle and family.
Hope you have a great rest of your weekend! We had a Memorial Day party at my friend's house yesterday. It was a blast but a late night with a lot of adult beverages. I am still dragging a bit today The girls and I will be heading over to my parents' house for a visit and a swim soon - DH has to work Tomorrow I think the 4 of us are sticking close to home. And I am making the very traditional Memorial Day meal of chicken fajitas. Got to get this house straightened up so we can get out of here!
I think he understands? But I am not certain... It's hard to tell because he doesn't seem to be his normal chipper self right now. He still seems quite "flat"... I don't know how else to explain it? Sometimes there is a lot of emotion in his voice and other times, he sounds really "spacey". If that makes any sense? I am having a hard time putting my finger on it.
My dad planted 4 tomato plants... 2 rows of radishes and 1 row of green onions.
Sounds like you had a great time at the party.

And I hope you enjoyed your swim... It's supposed to be super hot and humid here today, so I am sure a pool would feel fantastic - if we had one

Enjoy your fajitas!!! They are my favorite!
I'd say give yourselves 2 1/2 to 3 hours if you want to stop and pour over each amazing item in the exhibit, maybe 1 to 1 1/2 hours if you wanted to just focus on parts. The rest of the museum has a lot of fun exhibits too - the Science of Storms being one of the most recent. Try the wind tunnel!
Oh - I am sure we will want to explore every inch of it.

We have a similar "storm" exhibit in one of our local museums... They put you in a "basement" and send the tornado after you... After being in two tornados in my lifetime - I have no desire to experience a third, whether real or fake.

So, I think I will sit that one out. LOL
We are going to go to Blizzard Beach this next trip! Charlie wants to try the lazy river.
AK does not have tiers for fp+ so you can get fp+ for each ride.
We went to my son Steven and his wife Melissa's house for a cookout and crabs today. His dad and stepmom were there also. It was a very good time.
Yesterday I spent sewing. I needed to finish up a few things....
Glad your Dad is doing better. His garden is adorable. I love the garden "jewelry" Josh picked up for him.
3 DAYS!!!!!
Oooh - the lazy river is awesome! I could go round n' round on that all day long! Just be careful of the bottom - remember, that's how I scraped the top of my foot off last year.
I am so happy to hear about the no tiers for AK... That makes things easier... I wish they would get rid of the tiering all together. It's so annoying.
Sounds like you had a great time at your son's... Crab sounds delicious right now.
I know - I have a few things I want to finish up too... I hope to do it today.
Thanks! He is very excited about his garden, I hope it does well.
Make that 2 days!!!!!

I can barely contain myself!
That's nuts that they didn't call you about your dad's hospital visit but I'm glad you had a nice time with him and that he's feeling better! Trust me, I know what it feels like to be skeptical of nurses/doctors/etc.
That photo of you and your husband is so cute!
Lissette
I know - I am still very upset about it. But yes, we did have a nice visit... I think he is feeling better - but he still seems to be very drained. He did sound a bit perkier yesterday - not a bunch, but some. I am a little worried about that.
Thanks... I wish you could see DH's expression better, MM was trying to jump up on his lap...
**********************************************************
We had a nice day yesterday.
I worked in my sewing room for a few hours in the morning.
Then, I laid out on the back deck for a while... Tanned my backside, and about 5 minutes after I turned over to do my front, our perfectly cloudless summer day turned into a complete cloudy day.

Oh well - I am still a little burnt on the front from the Jeep ride the other day, so it's just as well.
So, I joined Josh out in the big garden... He was just finishing up tilling it when I got there. So, I helped him do the planting... We did tomatoes, brussels sprouts (my fav), beans, yellow zucchini, green zucchini squash, onions (which actually came up from last year...

), baking pumpkins... We still have to plant seeds - so... rainbow carrots, peas and one other thing - I can't remember. Oh, and the sweet potato plants are on order, but they aren't here yet.
He was also able to get the little salad garden in our yard tilled... We usually plant lettuce (we stage 3 different rows through out the summer) & baby tomatoes. Then, that's also where we have our rhubarb and strawberries.
I am VERY excited about both gardens... If you all only knew how much I spend on veggies every month - it's truly insane!

I cannot wait until the plants start producing.
For those of you who are "new" to my PTR... Every summer, some of the neighbors and us rent a 1/4 acre plot from one of the local farmers, and we split it between all of us for a community garden. This is our 3rd or 4th summer doing this. It works out well, it's a LOT of work - but it seems to be getting easier.
As long as we are on the subject of food...

Allison is doing very well on her "no wheat"... She told me yesterday that she's cheated a few times, but I tried to explain to her that it's not really cheating... Just making better choices most of the time is going to have a profound effect on her. I keep reading TONS of Paleo success stories where multiple skin conditions have been completely healed by ditching wheat... Psoriasis, exzema, acne... And I have to agree - as an adult who has struggled with acne my entire life, I am shocked and amazed that I have the best complexion I have ever had. So, I have no doubt that adjusting her diet will be very helpful to her.
So... Today... Well it's Monday - and since I leave for Chicago in 2 days...

I don't have a custom order scheduled for this week. So, I am hoping to finish Auction bag #8 today, and start Auction bag #9 tomorrow... The problem being... I won't be able to get a ton of #9 done before I leave, as I have a hair appointment tomorrow afternoon, and I am hoping for a mani/pedi appointment too... I still need to call for one. But it's my hope to get #9 cut out/quilted and have the applique stitched before I leave...
I forgot to post this picture the other day... It's me wearing one of my favorite belts... I was not able to touch this belt end to end around my waist one year ago... Now it is too big on the final hole, and because of the decoration on the belt, I cannot punch anymore holes. Bummer...
Alrighty.... I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Memorial Day with your family and friends - I hope the weather is gorgeous where ever you are. Prayers, hugs and Pixie Dust to all.
D~
