I love so many of his songs (7 Summers, More Than My Hometown, Chasin You, The Way I Talk, Talking Tennessee, Whiskey Glasses and more). He is a really talented singer and songwriter. He’s had a string of incidents lately, and all seem to involve alcohol, so I think you all might be right about the drinking problem. Between that and his sudden success, he’s a hot mess.
So the big question is do we hold this against him forever? Is it possible for him to be schooled on racial sensitivity, truly change his perceptions and make amends - real amends, not just lip service - and perhaps grow as a human being? Our whole prison system is based on rehabilitation. If we believe a criminal can be rehabilitated, can racists be rehabilitated? I’m not defending MW at all - the N word is very hurtful and never allowed. Just wondering where we go from here as a society. If we believe that people cannot grow and change, then why all the activism, protests and marches to get people to grow and change?
