Welcome. You have definitely come to the right place. Unfortunately I have not been back to WDW and AKL since January 2011, but there are a number of people who have been recently and hopefully one of them can help you.

3 months out and starting to wonder about our AKL stay. We are renting DVC points for a villa at Jambo House. Will we be able to use the kids splash area at Kidani? How long is the walk between the buildings? I picked Jambo due to having the Mara close at hand, but its clear the DS will still not be ready for the pool....TIA!

We are renting a DVC - through Dave's Rentals (thought it would be easiest way to try this out) and we are so excited to be only 104 days out

I am wondering how it works with DVC units--do you own a specific one - or can the owner make a request for us--in the contract it says Studio - Savannah View--so that would mean Jambo--right? Are there any other things that I can request--like which Savannah to view or other location stuff--or is that for non-DVC peoples? I just don't want to miss anything as I'm guessing this will be our only stay at AKL (we're pretty much Value and the occasional CBR type budgets)... So any details or hints here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We are coming from Utah so most likely will be arriving late on the 13th (still waiting for some points to post back to my account before I can arrange flights)--but I am wondering if I were to have Garden Grocer deliver to the room and we haven't checked in yet - will that cause any problems? I don't want refrigerated food to be sitting waiting for us. Also--do those little fridges have even littler freezers in them or is it all fridge?

Thank you so much for your help--this is a great thread to read--you're a great group of people here and I've enjoyed reading through all gazillion pages of this to find the tidbits about the resort that I can use to hopefully help my non-Disney DH have a good time (so he'll want to come back again and again--gotta have a goal).

I'll take a stab and trying to answer - It could be Kidani that is all DVC. Does it say on your contract if the studio is Jambo or Kidani? I'm sure Dave can get you that info.
Any requests would have to be made thru Dave via the owner. They own your reservation I believe. Like going thru a travel agency, they own your res. till a week or 2 before check in.

No worries with Garden Grocer, Bell Services at the resort will hold your delivery, and they have refrigerators to keep stuff cold or frozen as needed.

I think the studios have a full size fridge? You can look at pics of the rooms on allears.net to see. They also have a DVC section, with lots of info.

I believe they share facilities, and there is a shuttle between you can take. There is also a walking path between them. Maybe someone will know how long the walk is. Going from Kidani back to Jambo you can get on any park bus, they all stop at Jamob.

Thanks for the info about the shuttle bus. I hope that someone has the walking time We are getting excited here and I suspect the questions will start coming for all of you AKL veterans!

We lost power for the night but by yesterday morning it was back up and running. We are under water restrictions. My in-laws have no power but refuses to come here. They would rather stay home. The mall was a nightmare yesterday. I thought I was experiencing black Friday in June! Stay safe everyone!

Oh my, I hope the in laws are doing ok. I can't imagine the malls. Walmart was crazy enough. I still have no street lights or shopping centers near me.

I think the lifeguards reserve the right to restrict people because some have come back from vacation saying they were turned away, but usually both resorts can use all the facilities between the two. The walk is about ten minutes, not too bad at all.

Yes, your contract should specifically say whether you will be in Jambo or Kidani. Kidani does have savanna view rooms also. For any room location requests such as a specific savanna, high/low floor, near/far from lobby or elevators etc. have to be made by the owner of the points you are renting. I'm sure somewhere on Dave's website or in your contract there may be information on how you can submit your preferences to the owner who will then submit this information to DVC member services to notate on your reservation.

Yep, about 10 min give or take walking speed and your room location & end destination. There's the availability of a resort shuttle (I believe it's a shuttle van) - check what times the shuttle runs because I think I read in the past it stopped at 9p. And as someone else posted you can hop on park buses to get to and from each building too.

AKV is my 2nd home so I absolutely love it! Hope your family has a fabulous trip!

We are doing a split stay in January 2013, 5-10 BLT and then 10-12 AKV Kidani Savanna View. I am trying to figure out if we should just plan on spending one whole day at AKV since the September 2011 resort activity listing had so many things to do. Our ADR window opens up on July 9 so I want to be prepared.

Hey, I got the new DIS app for my Iphone & IPad so I should be able to pop over more often

Hope everyone is going to have a great week As usual, no such thing as a holiday for me...Not only do I have to work the holiday, but I work my day off too, to cover while someone is away. I really wish I didnt have that type of job, it would be nice to have a holiday off....I have to work every single one in '12 , no holidays fall on Fridays, but oh well.
