it went fine, but they moved it back an hour and a half without telling us, well until it was half an hour after the scheduled time. She didn't get released until 10PM, so it was a long day. When I get home I can PM you the pictures from the dressing change this morning. It's pretty gruesome, you're the only one who would find them interesting. Hopefully they got all the nasty bugs out, and with the big gun antibiotics she will finally heal once and for all.

I am glad that the surgery went well, but it stinks that they did not let you know straight away that the surgery was delayed. I hope that Fran will make a swift and full recovery.

Ugh! Try not to melt!

Well, the only way I won't melt is to spend a couple nights in a hotel (which is where I am now!) :rotfl:

The upstairs A/C unit finally said "enough" and quit. This will be the 3rd or 4th compressor we'll replace (in 7 years) -- love these well-built houses! As you might imagine, the HVAC people are in high demand! Monday afternoon is the first appointment.

There's not a cloud in the sky here in ATL. No chance of storms. The downside is that the sun is really heating things up. :(

Stay safe everyone. This too shall pass. :thumbsup2

Hello, AKL experts. I have a question. I'm in the early early stages of planning our next wdw trip for December 2013 and I'm picking two resorts for a split stay, two resorts that appeal to me the least (poly and AKL), but I love being surprised. I have heard so many good things about this place and I really love boma and jiko. I want to devote 3 days and 2 nights to the AK, but the room options seem to be lacking for a family of 5. Am I reading it correctly? As a family of 5 our only option is a one bedroom suite?

for a family of 5, unless your youngest is under 3, you wouldn't be able to get a standard room at AKL. Sorry. At Poly they accom. 5 with 2 queens + daybed.
AKL standard room occur is 4, 2 queens or 1 queen + bunk beds.

Family of 5 all over 3 researching our options for 2013 December. It may seem paradoxical, but we had such a great time at our last stay at the boardwalk that we are ready to step out of our comfort zone. Our next resort was going to be the yacht or beach club, but swimming weather in December is not guaranteed so why bother?

I've stayed at the contemporary (BIG rooms), grand flo, BWI, and the wilderness lodge. The wilderness rooms were teeny tiny, but I thought we could endure it for 2 nights. Had no idea it was not even an option. So as I understand it I need a one bedroom suite or a one bedroom villa. What's the difference between Jambo villas and Kidania? Jambo is the main building, right?

Yeah, the poly is a no brainer. Standard room, lagoon view!

AKL & WL are sister resorts and the room sizes are comparable (teeny tiny as you stated! ;)). The difference is that WL still has the Deluxe size rooms - AKL no longer has those (they were converted to DVC villas).

For size and comfort, you really can't beat the 1-bedroom villas at Kidani. Two full bathrooms, washer dryer, full kitchen. The disadvantage would be that the restaurants are at Jambo (the main building). It's not an issue for me since it's an easy walk between the 2 resorts. :thumbsup2

If you will be using the buses, the park buses pick up at Kidani first (slight advantage there! ;))

I don't know anything about the 1-bedroom suites (those would all be at Jambo). The 1-bedroom villas at Jambo are nice, but they are smaller than Kidani's.

Have a great trip and try to get some relaxation in.

And rooms are as big as CR. Very spacious. Only thing I missed was a hot tub!

Yes, AKL Jambo house is the main building. Kidani is the new all DVC resort they built just up the road a bit. We've explored a bit while there for Saana ADR. It looks very nice and if your kids are young, has a great water play area.

Good morning, Js & Ks! :sunny:

I heard Elin's area got slammed with awful storms last night. Elin - is everything OK?

The storms came by me also, they were so fierce! At one point the house shook, which made me uncomfortable to say the least.

Ironically, I had to turn the A/C OFF in this hotel room -- it was too cold!! :rotfl:

Everything is OK. Now. The "derecho" storm that went here is like nothing we have ever experienced. 80+ mph straightline winds. Our younger daughter called in the middle of the storm to tell me she was terrified of the winds. She loves storms so you know it was bad. Our power went off about 9:30 Friday evening and we were fortunate that our neighbor ran a line from his generator to our refrigerator and a fan for us. It never got as hot as they were predicting yesterday so it "only" got to 90 in our house. Today is going to be brutal; back up above 100. So I am very thankful that we got our power back on yesterday evening. There are still hundreds of thousands of people in the Washington metropolitan area who are without power and will be so for days, or even a week. They need our prayers and good thoughts. Temps are to be above 100 basically for the next 3-5 days.

Our good jamborini friend, Brandi, picked this weekend to come to my neck of the woods to visit friends. Unfortunately they were also hard-hit and I don't think they have power back yet. There was another line of horrible storms that came through last night and I think they probably hit where she is staying (stayed away from us this time).

Our downtown area was still mostly without power last night, but I am hoping that the poor, overworked electric company employees have been able to work miracles overnight.

Laura - I am glad you went to the hotel. Did JD and Tori go with you? Tomorrow is Monday, my friend, so hopefully your upstairs will be cooler by tomorrow evening. Stay cool in your hotel room!

Pam - I am glad you were not without power. I hope everyone in your area is OK too.

Elin, what a wonderful neighbor you have. How very wonderful he shared some power with you.

I'm blessed we didn't, just for about a minute, but the surrounding area did. All the stoplights and shopping areas around me did. Of course people forgot the four way stop rule when the lights are down... It was a mess.

We lost power for the night but by yesterday morning it was back up and running. We are under water restrictions. My in-laws have no power but refuses to come here. They would rather stay home. The mall was a nightmare yesterday. I thought I was experiencing black Friday in June! Stay safe everyone!

....yes ITA - we were in one; it had a pull-out couch for the 5th person...
