Ann, you're right, zebra domes were offered in the CL when I was there, but that was over a year ago so they might have changed. I'm going to have to do lots of research when I'm there next!

LoL HH, Yes during Hurricane season...LoL....Well what ya say...August???? Huh HuH. be like NIKE....Just Do It..LoL:rotfl2:

It is all happening at the moment. I got home today and DH handed me a rather official looking envelope. I got summoned for jury service at the local Coroner's Court. At this rate they will forget what I look like at work. First I am on vacation for nearly a month and once I am back, I will be at work for two weeks before doing jury service for three weeks. I am pretty excited though. I did jury service at a different kind of court about 5 years ago and loved every minute of it.

Oh my. What kind of cases do they have at Coroner's Court? Medical related is all I can think. I think I'd enjoy something like that too.

Jury duty in the UK must be very different than the US! I've never known anyone to look forward to it. Mostly from the lost wages, and at least in CA courthouses are normally in an undesirable part of town and often draw that type of people inside. Lots of security and metal detectors involved.

I'm glad it is something fun for you to look forward to.

Most people in the UK don't look forward to it either. All of the above is true over here as well apart from the undesirable area. The new court house is in a very fashionable area of Manchester. Here, the court pays you when they are in session. With me working shifts I also should be able to go into work after court and on weekends.

I thought for certain both resorts could use both pools. This is very odd.

Agree. Unless there has been a recent change, which is possible since I haven't been staying up to date, any guest whether staying Jambo or Kidani and DVC or not could use either pool. Maybe it was full/near capacity so they weren't letting Jambo guests in at the time?

When I was there in October I don't recall Zebra Domes in the CL but there were a couple nights that we probably weren't in for desserts/cordials so could have missed it.

That works out great for you then, like you're getting extra pay! Good luck....and shouldn't you be packing?

Anyone have any more info on the pools? We're staying at AKL in Aug, and I thought it was ok to use either pool. :confused3

Last time we stayed at AKL, Kidani wasn't opened yet.

Question:

I saw this on the activity guide:

Dine with Animal Specialists – An “Untamed” Lunch at Sanaa (Wednesday & Saturday at 12:00pm)

Has anyone here tried this and can you tell me more about it, please?

I thought for sure somebody had done this recently. They must not have checked in lately. Or somebody has if scheduled to do. Can anybody weigh in here?

My dream is to stay at AKL. I want a savanah view room where I can wake up in the morning and look at the animals. I love the theming of the resort. Too bad I can't afford it.

We are a family of 5. If we stayed at a value, that we can afford, we would need two rooms but it is still cheaper than staying deluxe. I would consider getting a room discount and paying oop for meals but my partner feels more comfortable knowing our meals are paid ahead of time. I did the math and figured the cost of 2 QS meals a day, eating a small breakfast in the room (granola bars, cereal et.c. and figured in one snack at the park a day as well as refillable mugs for all of us. It came to about $200 cheaper than paying for QSDP. No, I didn't include a dessert for us but truly, we were stuffed when we got dessert and hardly ever got a snack so I don't think we would need it. Plus even at a value we could get a $400 or so discount so it would be a bout $600 cheaper but she likes to have our meal spending planned.

I would sooooo love to get a 40% discount and see if I can swing it.

Can someone tell me, the rooms that have a queen bed and bunk beds, can you pay extra for a cot and have 5 people? My boys don't like sleeping together, they are 14 and 12 and of course my daughter is too old to share a bed with one of her brothers.

We were there for our first trip last September. My partner and I are going back in the fall by ourselves but we would like to make another family trip in 2013, March break. I know, more expensive and crowded but with my younger son starting jr high and my older one starting highschool, I can't take them out of school and summer is so hot.

Any pointers or thoughts on how to get my dream resort? :beach:

Good morning, Js & Ks! :sunny:

I haven no idea why I need to be awake at 3:45 in the morning since I don't have to teach until 10:30! :headache:

Have you looked into renting DVC points from a member? It could save you lots of money!

So excited to be staying at AKL for first time Oct 21-27. The only hitch in the plan is that the only rooms available were bunk bed rooms or suites. It will just be DH and myself. I was hoping for a CL or Savannah room with a request for a King size bed. I ended up booking a Savannah view bunk bed room just to get the reservation made so I could make ADR's next week. I'm hoping something else will open up. Is it common for AKL to run out of regular rooms this time of year?

I will pack when I get home from work on Monday. Normally I would pack on Tuesday, but we have a delegation from our Swiss office visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday and are taking them out for dinner on Tuesday.

Goodmorning J&Ks:goodvibes

Jumping in here....I got through about 20 pages, but got tired and figured I'd just post already! LOL

Just booked today for AKL CL June 15-23! I'm so, so, so excited!!!!

Forgot to ask if y'all had any tips for driving around the world from AKL? We'll have our car! TIA!

We always rent a car and it is very easy to navigate around Disney to & from AKL. Just make sure to follow the signs:rolleyes1

I have something to celebrate. After living in the UK for nearly 16 years, I have finally decided to apply for British Citizenship. The first step in this process is sitting and passing the Life in Britain test. This is fiendishly difficult and a lot of British people cannot pass this either. Well, I have been studying every spare minute that I had for the last 3 weeks and yesterday I passed this on the first attempt. I am so relieved. As soon as I get back from our vacation, I will put in the application and hopefully when I go to WDW in November, it will be with a British passport.

Corinna

:cool1: Congrats.

A friend just got back from AKL and they were denied entrance into Samawati Springs Pool because they were not staying at Kidani.:confused3

I thought you were allowed to use that pool If you were staying at AKL?:scratchin

Any thoughts on this? We are booked there in July .

We were able to pool hop when we went last July :scratchin The only thing I can think of it might have been at capacity.:confused3

When we were at the Lodge in March, people were using the shuttle, going back and forth between Jambo and Kidani, in wet bathing suits.
