seven dwarves mine train on fire

While there is an active and uncontrolled fire and status of nearby souls is unknown, it is in very, very poor taste. I stand by that comment.

Does Stitch suck? You bet. Do I wish for this to happen there...uh, no.

I agree. Sometimes it's a good idea just to keep the witty comments to yourself, at least until we all know what happened.

Crazy that it's back open that fast. I would think they would have it closed for the rest of the day to investigate, but glad to hear some good news.

That's like saying, "Dang, I really wanted to go see the twin towers when I go to NY. I wish it wouldn't have happened but why couldn't the planes have hit some other buildings." I know the scope of each situation was much different but it's along the same line of thinking.
No, actually it's not at all the same. It was reported that everyone was safely evacuated from the ride, so we are discussing structures not people. Structures don't have feelings. They aren't the same as people.
It's like I'm saying that instead of an empty Empire State Building burning down, I wish the empty abandoned strip mall on the other end of town had. If you can't comprehend that logic there is no point in continuing this discussion.
(and just to be clear, I do not want either the Empire State Building nor a strip mall to burn down. That was an analogy to make a point)

Just texted with a friend who is at MK right now and she said the ride is back on line and the wait is 90 minutes! She said CMs said the damage was only cosmetic. Thank goodness!

It's showing as Closed on MDE and easywdw.com's Wait Times page (which pulls Disney data) is showing it as closed, too. I can't fathom how an attraction could have a fire and could reopen that quickly. I would assume it would have to be inspected and have a safety clearance before reopening.

Tragedy, really? Thankfully nobody was hurt, not a tragedy. Comparing this to 9/11 is just ridiculous, everybody needs to get a grip and relax.

We were exiting Pooh when this happened. We watched for about 5 mins, and it had def spread big time. It was maybe 5 minutes after Wishes ended, and it was REALLY windy here today all day! Glad we got to ride earlier in the day.

How exactly is SDMT being on fire tonight, helping anyone with "Theme Parks and Strategies" No one can plan for this, so shouldn't it be moved?

Not sure about the supposed text from the friend up above, but the app says it is temporarily closed. As for the planning, if it is in people's plans to do soon, they may want to know it has had an issue and that they may need to make other plans.

Don't worry, they're all thinking the same thing that you are. But they have to continue their breathless, empty concerns for the well-being of everyone within the tri-state area of the fire in order to attempt to prove to themselves that they're good people.

:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I would be shocked if it's back up and running. There will have to be numerous safety checks done on the system before it can run again, even if the fire was cosmetic.

I hope it's true that the damage is only cosmetic, and was limited to just some landscaping.

But, wouldn't it be prudent to close the ride for the night and do a good inspection in the daylight to make sure the tracks and structure were not affected in any way?

Maybe someone can confirm for us tomorrow who is visiting MK! I would also think there would have to be safety checks that need to pass prior to it going back online. Maybe the queue line is just lit up with a standard 90mins showing but it's really closed? Just a guess as to what the eyewitness may be seeing.

Actually a hard ticket fire viewing experience went on sale upon first sign of smoke and sold out within minutes. For $250 you got access to a reserved viewing area directly in front of the ride, a cupcake, and a collectible pin.
