Hopefully everyone is safe and sound. We will be there in 5 weeks and last night my 4 year old told me that she was looking forward to trying the ride. We even pulled out the measuring tape and all to make sure she would be tall enough. She'll be disappointed if the ride has to be closed for an extended period of time, but we generally go every other year so there will be plenty of opportunities in the future!

How terrible . Thank God everyone was safe, could've been so much worse.

What a shame:( I hope everyone is safe and feel terribly for the poor Cast Members who probably weren't ever expecting to have to handle an evacuation for something like this. It looks from the pics and video like it was pretty major.

CMs never expect it but emergency evacuations of rides are practiced at least once every quarter and everyone is trained on what to do.

i wonder what the mountain is made out of, it looks like it went up pretty quick. I can't imagine having to evacuate that cavelike area where the queue is... It had to be so terrifying :(

:sad2:

Not the only inappropriate statement so far. Seriously worrying about if park will be open tomorrow, riding next summer, etc People's safety/lives first concern.

I happen to be here right now. The news is reporting that no one is hurt. Same e your self righteousness for something else.

Here is a link to a clear picture of just exactly where the fire was

I figured as much but I was just thinking that a lot of them are pretty young and that would be a scary scenario to have to work through.

Very poor taste then.

I don't really understand how that is poor taste. A ride is on fire, a fairly new ride that is very popular and eagerly anticipated by many and the poster stated that they wished it had been another ride instead, one that most people are content to skip. The rides aren't living beings with emotions, so whose feelings is it hurting to make a statement like that?
Maybe it would be better to wish no ride were on fire at all, but I totally get what the poster was saying and agree. It's a bummer that of all the rides to catch fire, it was the one most people are probably looking forward to riding on their upcoming trips.

Why? Thousands of people have 7DMT as their number one priority for their upcoming trip, and its poor taste to say I wish it had been a ride nobody cared about? Maybe your high post count has GONE TO YOUR HEAD. People have waited months and years to ride this attraction. Get a life, Mesaboy.

It's poor taste to suggest a fire on any ride in a crowded amusement park. What kind of person are you? Do you not realize that a fire In an amusement park with kids is a bad thing, no matter how you slice it? When a person's desire to ride an amusement park ride over rides their common sense, it's time to take a step back.

Agreed

Oh man, this isn't great... really hoping the ride doesn't have too much damage done to it.

Thanks to the people there right now for the updates... keep it up.

There was a video about it. Pretty sure it is like astro turf or something similar. I'm shocked because I thought I had heard they put sprinklers up on the mountain in case of fireworks blow over but I guess not.

I would guess fiberglass.

So glad everyone made it out safe. I was looking forward to finally riding it in two weeks =(

So, you would be ok with a fire In an amusement park as long as it was a ride that you didn't like? Maybe not as good as no fire at all though, ya think?

Wow...what if you and your kids happened to be in that ride when it lit up. I bet that would change your perspective considerably. Rides like that combined with fire can be a death trap.
