I'm amazed the thread is still open, or on this forum.
Well help us out with a link, Dan.

I'm amazed the thread is still open, or on this forum.

I started posting on this thread to share a view that I have that I am sure a few others do. I wanted people to see a different side of stuff, I don't think I changed anyone's mind which is fine because we are all entitled to what we want on a vacation. I just think people go to WDW for much more than rides and wanted to express that and get a different side of things into the argument.
Hey stranger! At the risk of going further off "track"are you planning a trip back to see it?

While the exact opening date of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has not been announced, indications are that Disney Imagineering is aiming for an opening around Easter.
Hey there. Yes going in March. Had a long nasty year last year so hoping for better this year.

Soft opening would be great! We are going for spring break. So sorry you've had a rough year. I hope Mickey sprinkles you with magic.
I'll keep my fingers crossed you can hit a soft opening or something. Keep in mind New Fantasyland opened in December but they were doing soft openings as early as what...... October? I doubt they'll open amid peak Easter crowds without a little practice first.
Same boat...when is your break?I've got my fingers crossed they are doing soft openings at least a month ahead of time. I can only get down during school breaks, and that week in March will be spring break for us.

So sorry especially about your dad.

When I went in mid-October 2012, they had a soft opening for the Little Mermaid ride, which we walked into and rode! It wasn't officially opened until late November or early December, if I remember correctly (which I probably don't since I'm exhausted!)
my guess is the 'late' part of the 'late spring opening' for SDMC is the update

Mermaid in Fantasyland was a unique situation. Since the ride had a twin newly-installed at DCA in Anaheim, the ride elements were built, tested and ready for installation in Florida very quickly. So the MK version (of the ride, itself) was ready long before the exteriors of most of New Fantasyland were finished. Mine coaster is being built as an all-new attraction and the ride elements must be designed and modified on-the-spot as they go through the construction process.
I think I know why its taking so long to finish the Mine Train. It seems like there are only 7 guys working on it.
