Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

I started posting on this thread to share a view that I have that I am sure a few others do. I wanted people to see a different side of stuff, I don't think I changed anyone's mind which is fine because we are all entitled to what we want on a vacation. I just think people go to WDW for much more than rides and wanted to express that and get a different side of things into the argument.

I would agree with that, but I don't think that makes the rides unimportant.

I love the atmosphere of WDW, but I would be disappointed if I only got to experience Buzz or TSMM once (DH and I love competing against each other). I also would have been sad to miss out on the 6 rides in a row on Thunder Mtn that I watched my nephew take last March (it was RD, and the queue was empty..no FP superusing to be upset about). It was the only "thrill" ride that he absolutely loved on that trip (he hated TT!), and watching his joy in going on it over and over again was very special - even with me only riding it twice with him.

The construction walls have become a part of the NFL because they have been there.......... forever. 7DMT has been in construction for so long it will look strange once they take down the walls.

While the exact opening date of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has not been announced, indications are that Disney Imagineering is aiming for an opening around Easter.

Hey stranger! At the risk of going further off "track" :rotfl: are you planning a trip back to see it?

Hey there. Yes going in March. Had a long nasty year last year so hoping for better this year.

So sorry you've had a rough year. I hope Mickey sprinkles you with magic. :wizard:

I'll keep my fingers crossed you can hit a soft opening or something. Keep in mind New Fantasyland opened in December but they were doing soft openings as early as what...... October? I doubt they'll open amid peak Easter crowds without a little practice first.

I've got my fingers crossed they are doing soft openings at least a month ahead of time. I can only get down during school breaks, and that week in March will be spring break for us.

Soft opening would be great! We are going for spring break.

Year in a nut shell. Hubby had 2 surgeries, I had one, my dad got pancreatic cancer, finally got hired at school district, daughter got into dental hygiene school won state in football with son as starting left tackle, dad died....ugh.

Same boat...when is your break?

That was a rough year. Ouch.

It's the week of March 24 - 28. I'm leaving out after school on 3/21, arriving 3/22. My MK days are planned for 3/27 an 3/28 ( I think. I don't have my schedule calendar with me right now).

Yikes, that's quite a year. So sorry especially about your dad.

Sounds like you were more than ready for a New Year. I hope this one is much better to you, starting with an amazing trip to Disney. :wizard:

Ok. So I got an email from Disney Destinations related to my AP. At the end of it, it listed that the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train is to open "late Spring 2014". Would this be updated information? Or old information. :confused3

I'm hoping this too. When I went in mid-October 2012, they had a soft opening for the Little Mermaid ride, which we walked into and rode! It wasn't officially opened until late November or early December, if I remember correctly (which I probably don't since I'm exhausted!)

We go mid March and I may miss the soft opening this time though.

Mermaid in Fantasyland was a unique situation.

Since the ride had a twin newly-installed at DCA in Anaheim, the ride elements were built, tested and ready for installation in Florida very quickly.
So the MK version (of the ride, itself) was ready long before the exteriors of most of New Fantasyland were finished.

Mine coaster is being built as an all-new attraction and the ride elements must be designed and modified on-the-spot as they go through the construction process.

We will be there June 1-6 and really hope it will be open to ride. Thought when they initially announced Spring 2014 that this wouldn't be an issue!

Fingers crossed!

my guess is the 'late' part of the 'late spring opening' for SDMC is the update

We had heard a rumor that Ariel's Grotto would be having a soft opening on the last day of our October 2012 trip. So on October 12, we headed for New Fantasyland as soon as the park open and hopped into a modest line outside the gates. We figured they'd march us to the Grotto and back out again. Much to our surprise, just before 10, they threw open the gates and we were free to try everything in New Fanatsyland (except Be Our. Guest, we could go on the bridge but no further). The LM ride, Ariel's Grotto, Gaston's tavern and Village Gifts were all open to us. And the CMs told us we'd be the first people to see them who didn't work for Disney. It was a magical and unexpected morning. And it was another few weeks until New Fanatsyland began its official CM and AP previews.

I think I know why its taking so long to finish the Mine Train. It seems like there are only 7 guys working on it.

Hah! More like 6 guys though since one of them is "Sleepy" and you can't expect to get much work out of him.
