Wondering if anyone can help :)

We are looking at going to the Sequoia for 4 nights in October. Is it worth paying the extra £25 for a Montana room? I know these are in the main building, but is it worth the extra? Are the rooms the same? The description on the Disney site says that the Montana rooms have air conditioning. Do the standard rooms? We have stayed at Cheyenne, Santa Fe and Davy Crockett, so we do not need to have everything within a 5 min walk of our room. I know it's only £7.50 a day, but every penny counts when there is LOTS of new merchandise

Thanks in advance:thumbsup2

DEFINATELY YES!

Honestly, it's SO much nicer to stay in the main building, we could just stroll down in the warm down to the shop, or even to the bar, without having to cross over to other buildings, it's so little extra, if you're paying to stay at such a nice hotel anyway, go for it!

YES YES YES! They are nicer rooms, have mini bars and are just SO much more convient. If you stay at a lodge some of them are a fair old walk (e.g Back onto Santa Fe!) I would go for it - and I am super picky when it comes to paying for extras like that!

i would say yes. i loved loved loved our montana room and just wish i had enough money to upgrade for my next trip. it was so nice to not have to go outside to get to the hotel. it was also lovely to sit in the bar sipping a glowtini and knowing i only had a lift ride to get to my room lol.

I have only stayed in a montana room and not the standard one but I thought it was really nice to be in the main building. I think I'd go for it for £25.

Thanks for your swift replies, we have decided to book for here :cool1:

One more question though - does the swimming pool have a shallow end and is it toddler friendly? I have looked at reviews, but there doesn't seem to be any info the pool :confused3

A few reviews I have read have suggested that the higher floors are less dark, and have good views. Does anyone who has stayed here have any recommendations?

The pool from what I remember is the same depth all the way round and I wouldn't call it toddler friendly - I do think there was a small splash pool for smaller children though.

We were in a very dark room on the bottom floor when we went in Nov 08 - there was lots of shrubbery outside and it being Nov didnt help either. When we went last Sept I contacted the hotel a week before and asked for a room on a high floor - we were given rooms on the very top floor which had fab views out over the countryside and as a bonus it was very quiet up there as there aren't that many rooms.(the top floor doesn't go right across and out over the wings)

Did you contact the hotel by phone or by email? I was thinking of requesting a room on a high floor too! :goodvibes

I am going to be doing the same for our trip in October too! I have booked a room in Sequoia Lodge and never realised about the Montana Rooms so I shall be phoning them tomorrow morning to upgrade too! We may be on the same floors! hehe!

Have a great trip!

Depending on when your going you maybe able to request a room in the main building a week before you go (when they start to allocate them). I faxed them & whilst its not guaranteed, I got a room in the main building for no extra charge.

We got upgraded free of charge too on our second stay at SL, if it's a quiet period I think they tend to fill the main building up first.

I'm so excited as we just upgraded our hotel from the Cheyenne to the SL in November for the start of Christmas season - we're going into Montana rooms to as it's a birthday treat for one of our party and also to say well done to my daughter on recovery or her operation. UPGRADE NOW, it's sooo much better that the others in the Winter and I love it. It's my second favourite hotel and my daughter is stoked we've got a pool this time around :)

We are booked for SL also in June. Has anyone had the lake view vs. other? We weren't sure if this was a good option to upgrade for so put it off. I'll try and request an upper room also...

I also would like to hear from people who have upgraded to a lake-view room... I've read somewhere of people mentioning balconies. Are balconies standard for all lake-view rooms, or do all montana rooms come with them? I have now booked Sequoia Lodge for next March for a birthday celebration so would like to make it as special as I can.

Also, has anybody ever bought any extra bits to be placed in the room for arrival, and is there a specific list Disney has for this? Sorry for the 21 questions, I'm getting myself all confused! :rotfl:

Not all montana rooms have balconies, we stayed in one in Feb, and it didn't. To be honest it depends on how much time you will spend in your room, as to whether you think it is worthwhile paying more for a lakeside room.

We have paid the extra for a montana room, for the convenience at breakfast time etc, but last time we were there I can't honestly tell you if we even opened the curtains! it was dark when we went for breakfast, and dark by the time we got back!

As for 'extras' in your room, I have heard on here of people being quoted 50 euros for a balloon in the room! It may be worth running ahead yourself and setting something up in the room? Much cheaper, but still a nice suprise!

Thank you for the info!!

I have just got off the phone to Disney and I paid the extra for the Montana Room upgrade as, after reading everybody's posts, it does seem worthwhile for breakfast time and also in the evening when we plan on sitting by the fire for a couple of drinks before bed...

50 EUROS for a balloon?! I think you're right... I'd rather just take them to dinner! Or better yet, a round of drinks - much cheaper!! haha :lmao:
