September/October 2013 check in

yep, its that time of the trip again.....45 days and having those lost passport, missed flights, sleeping in dreams......

:bitelip:

I wouldn't know about those... from what I understand, you have to actually get some sleep to have nightmares! :confused3:rotfl::surfweb::surfweb::coffee::coffee:

Is it just me or does six weeks sound AWFULLY close all of a sudden?:scared1:

Yep, very close ::yes:: (though it is just under 8 weeks for me)

I had one of those sleeping in dreams about 4 years ago only to awake and realize I'd slept in and missed the airport bus.

It was only a domestic flight thank god. Mad taxi dash!

lol, I know what you mean.

On one hand I'm beyond excited with my 55 days to go, but another part of me is suffering from mild buyers remorse.

Right at that point when everything is paid off and I am so financially invested in a holiday that I can't back out, I usually get this little voice of doubt set in questioning whether I'm doing the right thing. Ironically for the last 3 or 4 trips it's been slight remorse that if I hadn't of succumbed to a holiday closer to home (Fiji, South Island etc.) I would be one step closer to getting my son to Disneyworld. This time, however, it's my love of scenery and the great outdoors that has me questioning whether I should have stuck with my original plan and gone to Yellowstone or done an Alaskan cruise (or my dream holiday - both).

Silly I know, and I'm certainly not loosing any sleep over it; I'm yet to go on a holiday I've regretted afterwards. There are just so many wonderful places to visit in this world and I need to win lotto so I can visit all of them. :)

I am glad I am not the only one who has buyers remorse ;)
You have to save something for next time just to make sure there is a reason to go back :rotfl:
We were dissapointed with Yellowstone we expected a lot more wildlife to be roaming around :confused3

In 5 weeks time I will have already been on a plane for 9hrs. Eeeekkkk!

The holiday is booked and pretty much paid for now. Today I had a day off work with a heavy head cold. I have tomorrow off too...I can't teach without a voice...so I tried to get some things organised at home for the trip. I have redirected our mail. We've notified our bank so that don't freeze our accounts due to suspicious spending. I still need to notify our insurance company to let them know that we'll be away. Can anyone else think of things that we may need to do/people we may need to notify?

Does anyone have a good packing list? I really need to start getting things organised...5 weeks will pass in a blur!

That's a shame about Yellowstone. Although, I must admit, hearing a negative comment about the place makes me a little bit happier that I chose theme parks over National Parks :)

On a positive note, I got some US dollars changed over today. The NZ exchange rate had bounced back a little bit so I decided to get half of what I want to take with me. Hopefully the dollar keeps rising between now and getting the other half. The bank only had $100 notes, so I put in a money order for some smaller notes ($5 and $10) to use for tipping shuttle drivers etc when we arrive.

WAMUMOF4 and anyone doing an upcoming Disney Cruise, are you planning on prepaying for one of the photo packages? I keep going back and forth between the most expensive package with a CD and all prints, to the 10 print package, to nothing at all. At about $400, the expensive package is REALLY expensive. But given that these are actual professional photographers (unlike photopass at WDW) and you can walk away with hundreds of pics including some from a professional family photo-shoot, it is probably good value by land standards. But that still doesn't take away from the fact that it's a lot of money on top of an already expensive cruise. Decisions, decisions ....

This ladies blog is giving me food for thought

:yay: for the $ going up a bit!

I really haven't decided exactly what photo package I will get yet but I will get something and my reason is last year we didn't get photos taken other than what we took ourselves and I realised recently I don't have one photo of my whole family together on our cruise I do have photos of us all together everywhere else but it's a missing piece I thought they were to expensive at the time and am now regretting it!

That's what I was thinking might happen if I didn't buy any of the photos - I'd regret it afterwards because we'd have no full family shots. I made a couple of big photo collages of travel pics for my wall the other day and of the 50+ photos, only 3 were of all 3 of my family. Two of them I didn't even really like of myself, but put them up anyway because family pics were so few and far between. When my DH got home, he commented how so many of them were of him and DS. Where were the ones of me and all 3 of us? They weren't there because they don't exist. I love taking photos, but there is a sacrifice to being the one behind the camera all the time.

Perhaps I'll prepay the 10 photo package, and if there are so many wonderful pics I just can't decide, I'll upgrade onboard.

I do wish the photographers took more outside shots. Having the real sea as a backdrop is so much prettier than a big sheet with a sea photo on it. They take outside shots on the Alaskan cruises and they're the best Shutters pics I've seen. I wonder if you can request to have photos taken up on deck?

Just catching up and popping in to say hello.

:wave2:

Our 75 days came up for our cruise the other day so I booked a few port excursions but I will probably cancel them and join in with the dis group planned activities.

So much to do, so little time to pay for it.

I just ordered some cash for our trip. I realised we only had $7USD left over from a previous trip, not really enough to do anything when we first get there - barely enough for a tip! :confused3 I only exchanged $500 (US$445), but I figure that will be enough for the first day, maybe two of incidentals. The rest will be on the travel card and TC's - old school :)

SIX WEEKS! We'll be halfway to NZ in six weeks :cool1::cool1::cool1::dance3:

just did my amazon shop this morning, :surfweb:

so tally of purchases so far being sent to boardwalk
4 x ebay
2 x disney
2 x amazon

I'm so jealous! I would love to hit up on online shopping but DLH/PPH says one week before.

I've just hit 60 days from my trip!

Oops I didn't know this I have already sent parcels to GCV they arrived today I hope they don't send it back!

I emailed BWV and they told me 2 weeks in advance. Given that they are already accepting all of Karen's parcels, my guess is that their quoted time frames are just guidelines.

I'm thinking I'll start to order stuff at about 4 weeks because at 2 weeks I'll be packing and getting ready to leave.

Also, incase anyone is interested, I also emailed the Hard Rock Hotel. They accept parcels, but have a charge to store them based on weight. It wasn't too expensive, but free is better.

What are you all ordering? I. Hadn't even thought to do that...but I have scheduled a few shopping days in our trip.

Well we've hit the one month to go mark. In exactly one month time our plane should be starting it's run down the runway. but :cool1::yay:at the same time. And I still haven't written any lists. I really need to start.

.

My husband wants to buy some t-shirts from threadless.com. I was thinking of buying a few things from Amazon such as a bottle of perfume.
We will save most of our spending money for when we are there. I generally prefer to see things before I buy them. Whenever I've bought clothes online they've never fit properly or looked good once I put them on.
