I had a close one today. I am staying in a hotel for work. I had a work dinner to get to, was running really late. Grabbed my makeup bag to put on in the parking lot (better light) and left my eyeshadow palette in the room. Uggg. I'm getting to the age where I need to wear some makeup. I almost stopped at the CVS on the way, no time to go back to the hotel. Instead I had some bronzer that I used, got a little creative. Looked fine and kept my No Buy day!

My no spend days are drawing to a close for September. Before the flooding I had planned a big two week solo trip to Orlando for late September and I've been hemming and hawing for a month now over whether or not to cancel. My hotels and park tickets are paid for and non refundable so I've decided to go! I'm going to keep the spending down as much as possible and try to report in. We'll see how I do!

One of our horsey refugees did some damage to one of the fences and we had a guy here helping DH with the repairs so I made a big old skillet of potatoes with smoked sausage and peppers. The potatoes and peppers were on sale last week, the onion came from the pantry and the sausage was probably around $4. It made a huge skillet of very heavy food for around $6. We have enough leftover to feed DH at least twice.

@jsmla
OMG that looks soooooooooooooo good! i never get that bc no one else in my family eats it....but my mom used to make it all the time!!!!!!! my stomach is literally growling!!! LOL

Have a great trip!!!!!!=)

Thank you, last night I must have changed my mind a dozen times after I went to bed. Everything always seems so much worse at 2 AM!

I have to confess that potatoes are not a favorite of mine either but when you have hungry guys to feed........

Updating... Hard to get no-buys when I count everything. Maybe next month I'll exclude groceries.

Sun 9/4 - Day 1
Thur 9/8 - Day 2
Tues 9/13 - Day 3
Wed 9/14 - Day 4

Goal - 10 Days

Not too bad... Plus, I made $40 selling stuff on FB and made another $45 babysitting in addition to being a sahm by day and a night part-time job.

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

As long as I stay away from the catalogues and the warm, fuzzy, fall clothes in the mall, I'll be ok.

So I'm way behind!

I'm counting all spending except gas and household monthly bills. Goal is to keep groceries at $175/week (6 people in the family).

1. Spend - lunch out and Tim Hortons on the way out of town for vacation
2. No spend 1/15
3. No spend 2/15
4. Spend - ice cream for the family
5. No spend 3/15
6. No spend 4/15
7. Spend - groceries, kids planners for school
8. No spend 5/15
9. Spend - birthday gift for party DS3 is going to, shower gift, miscellaneous
10. No spend 6/15
11. Spend - milk, a couple things I couldn't push off until grocery day.
12. No spend 7/15
13. Spend - groceries
14. Spend - Costco (kept it under $100!)

I can't seem to make it through a full week without having to restock some groceries, especially dairy and fruit. 6 people and one fridge mean I can't stock up as much as I'd like.

I needed to gas up for the trip and my tank was almost empty-$31.19.

A new grocery opened recently and they had a great sale on our local coffee and one pound bags of dried red beans. With coupons I got two bags of coffee and two pounds of beans for $3.20-less than one bag of coffee. It usually runs in the $6/lb range at the store I always patronized before I began to make a serious effort at shopping more mindfully :)

I sent DH a coffee coupon so that he could get two more. The coffee was on sale for $2.99/lb and the coupon is for $4 off of two bags so only $1 each! If I weren't heading out of town I would probably have hit up everyone I know for coupon printing and really stocked up. DH thinks stuff like this is a bit much but that's a crazy savings, IMHO.

So it wasn't a no buy day, but happy anyway. Had to go to Target for cat food and stopped at grocery for chicken and a glittery eyeshadow for daughter, she needed it for a performance. So I stuck strictly to the list. Really happy with the budget this month. I hate to mess it up now. Lol

Spent most of the day on the road. I packed an ice chest full of food pulled from the freezer/fridge/pantry but, after an 8 hour drive, was too lazy to haul it out from the bowels of the car. Yeti coolers work very well but are heavy enough when empty. Filled to the brim with frozen bags of red beans, bolognese and chili it weighs about 158,372 pounds. I ended up having dinner at the Ruby Tuesday attached to my hotel. Dinner (salad bar/beer) was $14.71, I left $20. Kind of a big tip but the server was excellent and it was a BOGO happy hour so I tipped on my free beer as well as the cost of my meal.

The hotel night was purchased through Hotwire and paid for months ago so I'm not including it. If I had been able to cancel I would have driven straight through and saved the $75.

I gassed up at some point but the receipt is in the car. I'll update my total when I find it. (ETA: Gas was $23.26)

September 17 - Shopping day! Made a meal plan for the week and then headed to the grocery store. Will have to add up my receipts, but I think I have about $177. for the rest of the month which is great. Also used my allowance to buy a long tunic shirt from Old Navy to wear with leggings. It was a loss leader sale at $10.00. I went in to the store to buy just that and I succeeded. WooHoo!
This week: Sunday - Pork chops, potato pancakes, green beans
Monday - Grilled marinated flank steak, potato salad, spinach salad
Tuesday - left over flank steak made into quesadillas
Wednesday - veggie quesadillas using up the rest of the tortillas
Thursday - grilled chicken, grilled eggplant and zuke
Friday - Grilled veggie pizza with prosciutto
Saturday - Roast chicken, baked potatoes, frozen broccoli

A lot of the meat is from the freezer, I pick up a package here or there when it's on sale and then I get a week like this where I use it up. I think I spent about $60. at the grocery store.

I'm gonna call it, far too intoxicated to go anywhere! I went to SeaWorld this morning and only had free iced water. The afternoon was spent poolside at the condo with an ice chest full of beer. Dinner will be in the condo.

I fear tomorrow's expenditures will be a tad high!

I have been just. . .well. Spendy. So I am restarting my month.

Twelve days left in the month after today. I will spend nothing for those twelve days besides bills, food, gas, 2 meals out a week with husband and one group snack at some meetings I attend. Additionally, since I have prepared diet meals for 2 weeks in the freezer, I am limiting my additional personal food budget to $30 a week. That's diet soda, fruit and 1-point ole wraps. Time to see what I can save! I can do this!

16. Spend - bought birthday present for YDS and the stuff for his goody bags for his party tomorrow
17. No spend 8/15
18. Spend - veggies/fruit/dairy

I'm going to have a spend tomorrow, then I'm going to push to not spend anything else until Friday.
