September Check-in - September has Arrived!

I've started a FB group https://www.facebook.com/groups/DISSep14/

It's currently a 'closed' group, meaning people can see who is a member, but not any posts made or pictures posted (other than a cover photo.) I'm happy to change the setting and appoint other admins to help it run smoothly - I am far from a FB expert!

Closed or private would be my recommendation. We aren't soliciting members from FB at large... just the folks who are DIS members. :)

Kaci would you be so kind as to add me to your list of September people. My family and I will be there the 14-19 and I'm super excited. I will be bringing my wife32, DD8, DS4, my mom and step dad.

That sounds wonderful!!! It would be so nice to have gramma and grampa there. I'm sure your littles will be sooo very thrilled to get to share so many firsts with them.

I can't wait. I'm losing it. I'm not a summer person as it is (allergies) so this is excruciating waiting for September. I can't wait for my kids to see their first character. HURRY UP SEPTEMBER!!!!!! Lol!!!

I did a little more looking around and it seems that Matterhorn was on the "Official" list to go down for a refurb May-Aug., but because of the delays with BTMR and the massive amounts of other refurbs they pulled it off the list. Here's Touring Plans list.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they push it back a little and you get a chance to ride it, sharonabe!

I posted the closure earlier after seeing it on this site and a few others...I am hoping it gets pushed back again so all the first timers going on our trip will get a chance to ride it! *fingers crossed*

We are thinking about doing a little staycation for our 10th year anniversary from 9/16-9/18 and I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any discounts for Disney hotels during this time? On the AP website it is only showing through August right now so I don't know if anyone would know when they normally release more dates for AP discounts on hotels?

Thank you in advance for any help! :goodvibes

On the first page there is a link to dapper days. They have some discounted rooms. Not sure if they are still available.

Hi September peoples!

I am close to booking week of Sept 19th.

I have one question and I hope someone here has the answer (and this is the right place to post it)

I know they dont have fireworks everyday in September, so what days do they have them usually? Friday, Saturday and Sunday?

If its only Friday and Saturday our only day to see them would be Saturday and I would like to have more than one day to have options in case of weather etc.

Thanks!

Cindy

It's my understanding that in the "off-season" night time entertainment (including fireworks) generally run Fri-Sun. So, you should have two opportunities to catch the fireworks.

Also, the Halloweentime thread is a great place to ask questions specific to this Sep/Oct time frame. Many, many experts and veterans in that thread!

We have dates! September 15-19. I am so excited about this. I'm sure it's going to be painful at times with two toddlers, but I can't wait for them to see everything. We've been watching some vintage Disney cartoons so they know who some of the characters are.

They only do fireworks on the weekend??? NOOOOO!!!!! That totally stinks!
WDW fireworks are every day, even in the off season, so I just assumed we'd have nightly fireworks while in DL. Sucky! That means we'll only get to see them once! What about the water show at California Adventure (I think they call it World of Colour)? Please tell me that runs nightly.

Yes, WOC is every night!

I've been told the fireworks schedule has something to do with the local school schedule. They don't do them on school nights while the kids are in session. ETA - I wanted to emphasize that that was just a bit of info passed on to me, I don't know how factual it it :)

Welcome! I've added your dates to the front page :)

Because WDW is so huge, the parks are isolated enough that the noise from fireworks isn't a problem. DLR is right in the middle of a residential area, so they have many more restrictions and have to be much more careful about noise.

WOC isn't a noisy show, so it's able to play every night :thumbsup2

That's exactly how it was explained to me :goodvibes I think it might be more of a general rule than a hard and fast rule because the summer entertainment schedule continues after a lot of the local schools have started back up... But it is a good rule of thumb to consider; if school is likely to be in session hours and entertainment will probably be limited on school days/nights!

You're updated :)

Are there certain days of the week that typically see more traffic at one park vs the other? We're trying to plan what days we'll be in each park.

I was there last September with work and other than a weekend vs weekday, I didn't notice any difference. Monday and Tuesday were about the same in both parks and Saturday and Sunday were about the same in both parks as far as we could feel and tell while in there.

You sound like me. Well I only have 1 toddler but I'm pumping him with his Disney so that he'll be excited when he sees the characters or goes on the rides. Or I'm traumatizing him as some of the movies are totally scaring him.
