Alamo had pt cruisers for midsize in April. Found that there was some trunk space to stack suitcases.

Rental car is my last thing to book and I can not seem to find a good deal on a mini-van. I am an emerald club member and I am thinking about chancing an upgrade. We need the space of a mini-van because there are 6 of us. I could chance the mid-size and if there is no van in the aisle I could always reserve a second car. Not ideal, but it might work. I do not want to pay $700 for a 10 day rental.

You can try Budget using code "X474200" which is a Travelocity code. It returns a price of $360 for your 10 days in late August or $472 with taxes.

What is the best rate that anyone's been able to get on a Full Size SUV?

I think the best price I'm getting now is through Dollar for $429 total after all fees and taxes.

Thank you so much for this answer. I've never used Budget before, but looking for a minivan for my adult daughter to rent in Oct. I crunched these codes and noticed that the price did not change whether the coupon was entered or not. I could not figure out what in the world I was doing wrong. I stumbled on your answer and am somewhat relieved, though I do wonder what the conditions are to qualify for this coupon code. Do you know?

Both of my daughters are traveling with us with families, so their party will be 4 adults and 3 littles ones in car seats. We (just the 2 of us) could take all of the luggage with us in whatever we pick up in the Nat.ExecAisle ourselves. We are there for 2 weeks, but they are there only one week, so we didn't want to rent outside the Exec. Aisle and we all know that I'll end up with a full size car since a larger one would be helpful for this trip. (Murphy's Law)

Thanks, yes we have to rent 2 vechiles. With the 9 of us and all on different schedules. Me and DH will just rent through Executive Aisle and know we will at least get our full size. But the big kids (4 adults and 3 -- under 5yo) will get the minivan from budget. I'm a creature of habit and love my National Rental Company. But I have strayed to Alamo a few times, so I'm completely out of my element on Budget.

My rate for a midsize dropped again today with Alamo. Using the Visa code and the visa $30 off coupon my rate for 9/11-9/18 midsize is now $159 with taxes and fees.

My Sept. 29-Oct 5 rate with National also dropped yesterday. Paying $159 for a week rental after taxes and fees. Used a $30 coupon. Mine is for a guaranteed full size (Executive Aisle). My base was only $109 before taxes! This was a big drop for me. I've planning 2 different trips, so watch the trans. boards carefully.
