September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

So where's everyone staying Friday night? DH decided we should drive in Friday night instead of Saturday morning so now we need to find a hotel. We have parking by the port already reserved so don't have to worry about that. Just don't have a clue as to where to stay!

We'll be at the Hampton Inn Seawall--staying for free thanks to Hilton Honors points woohoo:cool1:

I'm going to go back in the morning. They are questioning if I am on the correct antibotic. They may give me a different one to have if this one doesn't knock it out. It still looks terrible. I'm using the prescription ointment and keeping it covered. I have a new spot on the other leg as well.

Now DS is in a panic. His guinea pig appeared to have a scratch on his rear end. DH did an exam and found he has a gaping hole that is abscessed. Add an 8am emergency vet run. The pig cost a big 20 bucks. I bet this vet bill will not be pretty. Probably the work of DD's piggy's teeth. Our piggy sitter had one as a child and killed it. Now we are going to leave him with a sick piggy. We may scare him for life. Oh the drama........

Good luck this morning!

And goodness I thought I needed this cruise, but you do soooo much more than me! :goodvibes Just think in a little over 48 hrs you'll be on the boat with not a care in the world :thumbsup2

:yay::woohoo:party: 2 days!!!!!!!!! :yay::woohoo:party:

I can't believe that after this long countdown that we only have 2 more days! We are mostly packed, so I'm feeling much better about that.

Now if we can just get our car out of the shop today we will be all set. Back in June we got major hail damage. There was such a back up at the repair shops from all of the hail damaged cars that we weren't able to get it in ours in until the end of August. We knew it would take 4 weeks to repair. It was supposed to be ready yesterday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we have it back by tomorrow morning, or we will have to rent something to drive to Galveston. We have been managing OK in our second vehicle (a mid-sized truck) for the last month, but there is no way all 6 of us can fit in it with our luggage for the trip.:confused3

I just went in to wake up my 11yo for school. I said "Time to get up - 2 more days!" Then the 2yo walked in behind me and yelled "Big boat, Mickey Mouse!"

I've been wondering how much he understands about this vacation, but I'm thinking he really knows what's going on! ;)

Precious! I believe he's got it.

Good luck with that. I am so not a fan of repair shops. 4 weeks without my car(taxi cab) would be very difficult. Hope it works out for ya.

Sorry, I hit send too soon. Their monthly upkeep was expensive. I hope yours is OK!

We are staying at the Quality Inn. Reviews seem okay. If we like it, we will be staying there again on October 21 before our next cruise!

:)

What cruise line are you going with?

I just came on to ask a question about food. I plan to bring some soup, corn, carrots (all in cans) and apple juice boxes for my dd. These are staples of hers and, well let's just say we need them (to make a LONG story short). Will this be a problem? Everything is unopened.

Also, can I check these on or do they need to be carried on?

Am I allowed to bring a can opener?

When my son was younger we always brought packaged foods and juice boxes. And we always travel with a wine opener, so I can't imagine a can.opener would pose a problem.

Doing our last day of school this week!! Woohoo!! I left tomorrow open so I could finish any last minute tasks, and I'm glad I did because our college-aged daughter surprised us with a visit tomorrow night! We aren't telling Reese...will have him answer the door when his big sis arrives...he will be so excited. She is coming to town to see her boyfriend, but wanted to atop here first to play some video ganesh with her little brother. Love that girl!

I hope those of you leaving tomorrow have safe travels!!

So excited we are almost ready to.walk on the boat!! Can I get a whoot-whoot for a week free from cooking, dirty dishes, & laundry?!?

That's great! :thumbsup2 Thank you for sharing. I'm sending to my DILs. I know the four year old DGS understands he is going to see Mickey on the big boat, but we don't think two year old DGS gets it yet, or he might look more like us :hyper:
