September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Our entire family is so excited about setting sail with MICKEY this Saturday. We are doing our Mickey Cruise Countdown Chain and its getting really short :-) Mickey is scheduled to call us this Friday night & I can't wait for my girls to hear his voice.

On a side note I also have a few extra FE gifts to give out. Still need to finish my packing and I just about have my FE gifts finished (decided to add something extra). Still have a few more days to get it all done. Leaving bright & early on Saturday morning to drive to Galveston. See everyone aboard!:yay:

:dance3: 3 days!! :dance3:

OFF TOPIC...if anyone is wanting to use Gymboree Gymbucks earned from online purchases, they are having problems....their system is not accepting the codes. They are accepting the codes from Gymbucks earned from store purchases but not purchases earned online...called and the lady there said they have been trying to fix it for 2 days...so if anyone was planning on going to Gymboree to spend their Gymbucks earned with online purchases...I would probably wait until it's resolved. Ugh we leave at 4 AM tomorrow morning and I had a very large order to place...well maybe this is a sign I should save the money for Disney instead? :P

Ha!! This cracks me up as I sit here and contemplate whether I should spend my GB's or save money for the cruise.:rotfl2: I do need to spend at least two thought to buy the boys pants for formal night. Are you a gf?

A gf? girl friend? gymbo fiend? ummm? :) not sure what you mean :) My daughter will probably be the only one on the boat with very little Disney apparel...90% of her wardrobe is Gymboree, the other 9% being Harley Davidson, and the last 1% being things she has seen and fallen in love with (like Disney)...and her formal wear as Gymboree's formal/holiday outfits leave a LOT to be desired :P Hoping they have this resolved before we get on the boat, I can place an order thru the iPad no problem, but I REFUSE to waste Gymbucks.

And I shouldn't say this, but if you aren't going to use them, you can sell your Gymbucks on Ebay for a VERY good price...I had way way way too many and sold $400 worth for $125. TECHNICALLY you aren't supposed to trade/sell them...but people do all the time, and they don't really care as long as you have the proper codes for online orders and receipts for store orders. Leaving in less than 24 hours...tempted to sell the rest of them thru Buy it Now and hope someone grabs them (and pays!) before morning...what to do what to do...

Gymbofriend...lol! It's a message board for Gymboree (basically all kids clothing). :)

I have registered there, but every time I log in I forget the password and end up resetting it...I do look on Gymbohaven from time to time if there's a specific piece I'm looking for but nah, this is the only forum I've ever really kept up with :P I even have severe issues keeping up with Facebook :P

The doctor says I have a staph infection in my leg. This came up suddenly and is the size of a CD. Oral antibotics/steroids along with topical ointments. Knowing I am about to cruise, Dr. says, "Stay off the leg." :rotfl2: RIGHT~ way too much to do over the next few days. Praying this thing heals up quickly so I can enjoy Stingray City!! Followup tomorrow as a safety precaution before we leave Friday. Wondering if I need to wear pants over the massive bandage. Is Disney gonna take issue with this at boarding?

How in the world is this only 3 days away? YIKES

Does anyone know if you can get a salon quality pedicure (french pedicure) on the boat? Getting one today, but will all the pool/beach activities, I'm sure I'll need another sometime next week....

You may need to rent a wheelchair or ECV. Since I am thinking you have a regular cabin, a folding WC might be better for you--the ECVs won't fit through the regular cabin doors. If you get an ECV, please don't park it in the hall--that makes it so difficult to get by for others. You could also call DCL and see if they have a HC cabin left in your category for you to transfer into. If you get the Pride Gogo, it is small and comes apart easily into 4 pieces--the heaviest piece is less than 40 lbs. Also, the battery can be taken into the stateroom and charged. I don't remember if you were driving or flying, but if you are flying, the ECV or WC flies free if you rent from home before you leave. If driving, the Gogo breaks down and can be put into a car trunk.

I think DCL also has a list of providers that you can rent from in Galveston. If you rent from there, the ECV or WC will be there when you arrive.

Oh no! I hope you heal quickly! I don't think you can swim with a staph infection, but not sure. That would be horrible if you couldn't enjoy the water!
Get well soon!!

WOW! Glad they caught it THIS week...instead of you coming down with it NEXT week!

No way will this hit salt water as it is right now! OUCH I'm just hoping they don't decide it needs IV antibotics ~ I must be on that boat!!! I have no trouble walking on it so I won't need to rent anything. I agree better now then on the boat! DH also cracked a tooth and had to have an emergency root canal. When it rains it pours.

Insurance adjuster just came for the Isaac damage. We have a little more damage than we thought and get to deal with a roof repair when we return. But, I have a home which is more than some of our friends and my aunt can say.

I so need this cruise!

So, I've got a theory (based on a previous cruise with RCCL) that one or two of the options for each course every night are better than the others and that all the people who talk about the food on DCL just being "okay" would have had a better experience if they'd known about those better dishes ahead of time, so I posted a thread on the main board asking repeat cruisers for their advice on things to try and things to avoid in the MDRs.

Any repeat cruisers, check out the post and give all the rest of us the benefit of your experience, if you have a chance to do so!

For my fellow newbies, hopefully we'll get lots of good suggestions!

Great idea!! I'll be checking the thread so that I can make another list among the other 10 I have for this cruise. lol!

this is what i jotted down. If anything is wrong someone please jump in and let me know. I was really just keeping track of the kids so i don't have all of the adult info. These are the people that i thought did not make it onto the fe list. I think they are still hanging fe's, but things have been crazy around here this week so i might not be correct. If there's anyone else please post it. Several of us have extra gifts.

Since no one knew the answer to my question earlier about liquor being in another container than the original bottle, I called Disney today and asked. The person that I talked to said that the liquor must be in the ORIGINAL bottle and it must be SEALED or it won't go onboard with me. Looks like a trip to the liquor store is now on my agenda.
