September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

We will be in 6506 and 6508. We are traveling with others on this list.

The names are Lydia (age 3, female), Eliana (age 1, female), Julie and Jonathan (parents), and Gaby (age 19). Lydia and Gaby will be on FE on one door and Parents and Eliana will be another on the other door.

So what kind of things do people bring?

Julie

Hey Julie, I think I sent you a link to the facebook group on your facebook also. Did you join that group?

This will be mine and my husbands 5 cruise but our 1st with Disney. So excited and we can't wait to go....

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this message board and am still feeling my way around.
We're booked on this cruise, and can't wait to experience our first Disney cruise. We have cruised on Royal Caribbean six times before, once with our daughter.

It will be me, my wife Jen and our 3-year old daughter, Jordan.

Trying to read and figure out this fish extender exchange thing, can someone explain it to me, or have a good link?

Looking forward to chatting and seeing you in September!

First--Welcome!

The "fish extender" is something that hangs from the fish clip outside your cabin door. People sign up for the exchange and then place little gifts in each your group's FE. Here is what mine looks like:

I also made lanyards for our key card. The gifts can be bought or hand made. If you join, you will sign up and around Aug. 15th, you will be given information for your "group." We don't want huge groups that could be a burden on people, so we'll try to keep it under 15 cabins. You are more than welcome to sign up for more than one group if you wish!

Woo Hoo!!! My sister and I have figured out what we will make for adult FE gifts!! She also had a great idea for the older boys (she has 3 boys who are now grown....and one of them just presented her with her first granddaughter! If you live in the Houston area and you need any girl clothes, buy them now--she hasn't quite emptied the stores yet........I don't know how long it will take her, but she is well on her way!)

I also know what to make for the younger girls and boys so we are almost finished with that part of the planning. Now all I have to do is make them!

I would love to see all yall's FE.

I will post a pic of mine as soon as it comes in

Has anyone started thinking about excursions or can recommend one? We went to Cozumel last year on Carnival and spent the day at Paradise Beach. We had a great time. We went on our own, just hopped in a cab. The kids had a blast on the giant inflatable water toys. It was a workout to get on them though. They also have kayaks, floatie mats, and a huge pool. My oldest son and I went parasailing for the 1st time and we both enjoyed it very much. I think it was $55/person. Chair rental is $2 each and the wristbands for the water toys are $12. If you don't plan on using the toys, no need to pay for a wristband. We may do this again or the Fury Catamaran excursion if it's offered.

Anyone know about Grand Cayman?

Going on my 2nd cruise with Disney, and one of the best parts, I am less than an hour from the port of Galveston:banana: No planning for 2 day trip to Florida!!!
Just learn about the FE? So will have to research more on this.
Like all disers :rotfl: I have to know everything about everything!!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to do any excursions. I cannot walk or stand for more than 2 or 3 minutes without difficulties. My sister and I are planning on just staying on the ship and enjoying the quiet!

Welcome! I understand the "know everything about everything" mentality. It is very prevalent in my family--we are planners in all things. I am moving near the end of May. My neighbor was laughing at me because I have drawn a plan so that I can tell the movers exactly where to put my furniture and have every box marked as to what room it goes in and what is in it. (Yes I have been packing a box a day for a couple of weeks now......I can't manage to do everything at once.)

We are thinking of doing Nohoch Kay beach in Costa Maya, dolphin encounter in Cozumel and Boatswain's in Grand Cayman.

Confused about transportation from HOU to Galveston. What is everyone doing for way to the port?

ok, so my OCD is starting to kick in again

As far as our FE group, are we gonna do one big FE with all the cabins listed. I think I counted 17, not to high IMHO. I have been running around the stores gathering things for the stuff I want to make but need to know how many adult males, women, little girls, little boys.............................................do I just need to calm down and wait till more time passes?

That does not seem strange to me! As your family, we are also planners in everything.. Myself I have a computer print out of every grocery store I go to and the list consist of ever aisle ( in order) and what can be found in each aisle, bin, produce.. have the whole store lay out! DH thinks that is werid, but it make grocery shopping a lot easier and quick!

Which dolphin encounter in Cozumel?

We're driving to Houston as we're just north of Dallas, so I can't help you there.
