September 29, 2007 - Magic

Hi everyone! 2 more days for us!! I hope we'll have good weather for the MNSSHP.

I'm giving a digital camera to my DD to bring to the club with her and everywhere she goes so she can take her own pictures. I hope she doesn't lose it.. I'll be sure to put our cabin# on there.. but you'll never know. It's just a little cheapie camera that I picked up at the disney store.

Just waiting.. and keeping myself busy here at home until thursday at 5am when we go to the airport!!!

I can't wait to see you all on the ship! I'll be heading straight to guest services for Palo brunch on thursday and Tea with Alice tickets :thumbsup2

Hello...... anybody home??? Where is everyone?

Ok.. so I'd like to know if any of you have info on the Med cruise. Will Disney have one next year or in 2009? :confused3 I'd like to know so that we could be "prepared" to book it onboard.

Thanks.

OK, so I'm no expert but I have been living on these boards for months so I'll give my guess. Magic is scheduled for dry dock next summer so it's only the Wonder - definitely no Med. Maybe 2009 but the dates won't be out yet so you won't be able to book for it anyway, you'll need a dummy date/placeholder.

When you're on your way, I'll first be packing! :scared:

Have a great trip, see ya soon!!

I found 56 parachuters for the Goodie bags.

My parents are coming over to help us pack.

Oren is 6'7" so that is the easiest way to pick us out of a crowd.
I will try to attach a photo later today.

4 more days!

:goodvibes

Afternoon Weather Update!

3 Spots to look at...
1. Stormy Disturbance South of Florida. Not being monitored by the National Hurricane Center. This is a stormy area impacting South Florida over the next day or so. No development expected.

2. Tropical Wave 97L. This is impacting the Lesser Antillies and the US and British Virgin Islands in the coming day or so. This looks very impressive on radar and is moving the West-Northwest. Forecast models project it to be in the Soutwestern Bahamas by Saturday morning. However, it is expected that winds may prevent this from becoming a tropical storm.

3. Tropical Storm Karen. This storm is currently 1500 miles from the Lesser Antillies. Models have showed this storm curving to the north and missing the Islands by quite some space. However, latest trends show a more westwardly motion and a later curve to the North. This could be an issue ffrom a standpoint of rough seas.

Will keep you posted. At this time, I am not concerned.

Please keep us posted! We sailed in 2004 between the August hurricanes, thought one might prevent us from leaving or alter our course but never did and we had beautiful weather. Weather here in NY has been very nice for the end of September!

We are leaving before 7am also and will be in Orlando before 10am.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Tom....thanks so much for the weather updates ! I am not speaking a word of any storms/hurricanes etc to my dd's. It will freak them out. As it is, it's supposed to be heavy rain and thunderstorms on Thurs evening when we fly out of Philly. This alone will cause my youngest to panic----I may have to give her a Benadryl or something.

I was at work all day today so did not get a chance to check in until now. Today was my last day at work until after the cruise !
Tommorrow is dedicated to simply packing and cleaning. I am fostering an abandoned kitten who unfortunately has had two surgeries on her paw since Thurs. I was in panic mode about who will care for her while we're gone. My son is a typical 20 yo college student. I just don't think he can handle dressing changes and wound soaks. Today I got great news----one of the nurses I work with said she would care for her while we were gone. I am so relieved now and can get on with the planning.

I am WAAAAYYYYY excited now !!!! Impending storms or not.....I'm psyched !!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

My bracket from my braces came loose tonight while eating dinner  so, I will have to go to my ortho tomorrow.. well as my DH said.. at least it didn't happen while we were on the cruise.

weather smeather ;) I'm still going to enjoy my vacation no matter where we are.. western or eastern or days at sea :woohoo:

Nighty night everyone.:cloud9:

:scared1: Murphy's law! At least you have [some] time to get it taken care of.

As for things on my end, Fallon's still coughing but yesterday her daycare said she seemed better. Doctor said it's just a cold and her ears looked clear (pixie dust that it stays that way or gets better). We're giving her Robitussin and Benadryl, I'll need to pick up some extra to bring with us . . . hopefully she'll be much better by the time we're ready to fly in a mere 52 hrs! :cheer2:

I'm 100% convinced all my co-workers think I'm obnoxious. Getting coffee in the pantry someone says "I'm sooo tired", I respond with "oh. hey, today's my last day in the office" and a big grin :rotfl:

I won't be smiling tomorrow though, I'll be all exhausted from the :laundy:

OK, last day at work . . !  :dance3: :dance3:

Good morning everyone... And now for this morning's tropical outlook...

1. Tropical Storm Karen. Looks like the computer models have Karen tracking westward then north of west in the next few days. It is projected to become a hurricane (Cat. 1) but possibly dissipate as winds may knock it down.

2. Disturbance 97L. This is poorly organized. Showers and t-storms are moving through the Virgin Island and Puerto Rico. Unfavorable area for development. Will likely be centered in the central Bahamas by Saturday, naer the track the Magic takes. This will, unfortunately, be something to watch VERY closely...

3. New Disturbance 98L. This is located off the South Florida coast. This is interesting because it's getting more organized. Computer models show this moving northeeastward over South Florida and the Bahamas over the next few days and is expected to become more organized. Some models have this becoming a tropical storm by the weekend and being off the Florida coast. This will need to be monitored.

 Ok, I'm almost ready to leave. I am half packed and my house is half cleaned. I finally found my contribution to the goodie bags. I got pop rocks and marshmallow eyeballs.

3 more days of work and I'm on my way.:dance3:

I hope everyone is feeling better and stays healthy for our vacation.

See everyone Saturday.

Off to work!:dance3:

Pauline....glad the bracket is something you can get fixed today. Hopefully it remains problem-free for our cruise.

TheDawnPatrol and ragdoll....here's wishing and hoping you all have a safe and smooth flight in on Saturday !!!! :wizard:

Ibela....
Thanks about the kitten fostering. I spoke with the vet this morning. They are offering to keep her (free of charge !) while I am on the cruise because they know I'm fostering and they said , and I quote, "this kitten is a fireball". They said it is taking 3 people to do the dressing changes. But her surgery went well yesterday.

I hope you dd continues to improve daily !

ibela says :Getting coffee in the pantry someone says "I'm sooo tired", I respond with "oh. hey, today's my last day in the office" and a big grin
Now...now.....be nice ibela.....;) ;) ;)

tfc3rid....thanks as always for the updates....I am reading the reports intently.....and hoping for the best.......

Obviously there isn't much we can do about it... We'll see what happens... However, based on the latest forecasts, I'm unsure if the Magic will be stopping at Castaway Cay Friday, sadly for it's passengers...

Hello...... anybody home??? Where is everyone?

Ok.. so I'd like to know if any of you have info on the Med cruise. Will Disney have one next year or in 2009? :confused3 I'd like to know so that we could be "prepared" to book it onboard.

Thanks.

The MAGIC will be doing west coast cruises the summer of 2008. We are on the westbound Panama Canal repositioning cruise in May :cool1: and she comes back to Port Canaveral in August of 2008. Summer cruises go from Long Beach CA down the west coast of Mexico and back.

I have not heard the schedule for dry dock but expect the fall-winter-spring schedule will be Caribbean as usual. Perhaps some special 11 or 12 day cruises to go further south than the 7 day itineray can permit.

I have not heard any hint about the Med in 2009. Was the ship full each cruise this summer? I heard that the wesbound repositioning cruise was rather empty bringing her back to Port Canaveral and that the eastbound had rough seas, but nothing about how well the Med cruises were liked. Anyone monitor those threads?:confused3

Each dot is essentially a 6-hour time period.

Looking at Saturday forecasts for Port Canaveral and the seas just off PC show that it will be a rainy, cloudy day with temps in the low 80's. If we are going on the Eastern, the seas may be in the vicinity of 10 feet.

You all may think I'm crazy but I love when the ship rocks a bit. Makes for a great nights sleep. Ten foot seas are nothing (for me anyway).:teeth: Now, since I've opened my big mouth I will probably get seasick for the first time.

I'll say it as well... I love it rocking me to sleep... My gf on the other hand...doesn't like it so much...
