September 29, 2007 - Magic

Maria I would love to link dinning but we have early seating. Did you request a table to yourselves ahead of time or once you got onboard? Anyone have early dinning?

We might be able to stuff them in Sessions which is in the club area. I don't think they use that area until the evening and right next door is Diversions where you can get a drink if you would like. I think we would be less likely to be bothered in there than in the Promenade lounge. It is just a suggestion, I know our last cruise in 2005 there never seemed to be anyone in there during the day.

I just watched the 3 Chapters on YouTube of this cute kid giving a tour of the Magic. It really showed a lot of things I haven't seen in other pictures.

Oh and I got an idea while at the airport today about what to wear lime green. I'm going to go to our local party store and see if I can find a lei for DD and I. We can tie that around our pony tails or wrap around our ankles or wrists. Just another idea for you all and me - of course.

I'm very excited!! It's OFFICIAL now! :cool1:

That's exciting! I can't wait to get mine too! :goodvibes

I like that idea! I'm going to look for those too! Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

The Promenade Lounge area would be a good place to stuff the bags as there are quite a few tables and chairs.

Zane or Pauline.....I know how you feel. On both our previous cruises, we requested a single table and got it. This cruise, we have not made that request.
Sooooo....Zane or Pauline (or anyone else on our thread).........do you have early or late dinner seating ? If late seating, maybe we can request a table together ? We're a family of four (ds not coming with us). I assure you....we are NOT grouchy. Just let me know......we can request eachother. :yay:

Shannon,
Meant to say that I am very glad your children don't have chicken pox. Hope they're feeling better soon if they're not already ! :cool1:

I am nervous about MNSSHP.......so far, for our past 3 parties we have lucked out tremendously. I hope party #4 is not going to be any different. Meeting at 6:30 pm at the Castle ? This sounds good. Maybe we can get a quick hello and picture of all of us in ? So we'll start a list of DIS'ers meeting at the MNSSHP. I'll start....just copy and paste the list as it goes, or maybe the "keeper of the lists" on page 1 (Sue) could add this little meet in there ?

Cool ! Thanks for adding Pauline....it'll be good to know exactly how many of us will be there that night.

As for the exact time of late seating, I don't think you know until you check-in and get your KTTW card. Someone correct me if I'm wrong ?

As for the topic of luggage.....how do u all pack your formal and semi formal dresses ? We only have one garmet bag and it's not going to be enough to get all of our cruise dresses/suits into. I tried looking for garmet bags at : Ross, Marshalls, Sears, JC Penney and Burlington Coat Factory. Nada. Lots of luggage, but no garmet bags. Do they not make these anymore ?

I think a picture of all of us would be a neat thing! I have one from marathon Weekend in 2005 and it is really cool with most of us wearing lime green scarves!:goodvibes

JCPenney should have garment bags we got a roling one for my parents at Mcy's in June. My sis and I have some Citiknits garments that don't wrinkle so they don't need to go in a garment bag. I am hoping to sneak two hangers in my parent's because we have two bags a piece already! May have to send one with my sis since she has an 8 bag allowance:rolleyes1

We have early dining because of my Dad and also on other cruises there are usually kids activities at 8-8:30pm that the kids want to go to!

Where ever we decide is cool as long as it is not the only day Palos has brunch available!:rotfl:

I will try to meet there too, but it will depend on my family.

Great SueRS! :thumbsup2 FYI, it's not going to be anything long.. it'll just be a quick H & B nice to meet you kinda thing... so that we can all go off and enjoy the rest of the park and party

Tuesday is my DD's FIRST day of school ever!! My babylove is off to preschool :sad1: It's also the start of Mommy's alone time for 3 1/2 hours every tuesdays and thursdays

IAnyone else nervous about getting a grouchy waiter or being seated with a not so friendly family? or not being able to use the verandah because of a next door neighbor smoking like a chimney??? If this happens... can we switch to a different room???

Gr00vyChc :hippie:

I'm not too nervous about grouchy waiter (probably because we had such wonderful ones last time)...plus I've never had anyone tell me a horror story about bad waiters. I think that for the most part, they are great because we are paying their wages. I am slightly concerned about being seated next to not so friendly people...or even people with no tolerance for children. Our DS (5) has a disability (apraxia...google it...it's too hard to explain, as well as ADHD and more than likely autism (he's being evalated again for this on the 25th)). He is an absolute love but he can be very trying at times. So, I wouldn't mind being at a table by ourselves either. I had too many bad experiences on airplanes, etc with horrible comments by people who just think that I have an unruly child. I've learned to try and educate people about disabilities that may not be visually appararent...but it still happens.

Anyway...there's my rant....sorry!!

12 days...can't wait!!

People can be really cruel. I Google'd Apraxia and I know it must be difficult for your family. My DS's uncle is autistic and may be about the sweetest boy I have ever met. But people were really cruel to him when all he required was a little more patience. We could take him to the movies when he was 11 but I'd usually have to stand in the back with him so he could pace or whatever. I will send pixiedust: your way!! Just today at the airport, I had DD strapped with that little strap that doesn't let your toddler run off. When she gets free of my hand, she tears away at full speed. So, I brought the "leash" today to avoid problems in the airport. This jerk walks by and laughs and comments loudly to his friend, "Kid on a leash. Taking the kid for a walk." I thought it was really insensitive and rude so I commented loudly back, "Jerk walking through airport." I don't know how you hold your tongue but God Bless You!

I'm not going to worry about things I can't control at this point in regard to waiters and what not. If our food is bad one night, there's food elsewhere. If there's a problem, I'll address it and hope it resolves itself. Worse case scenario, we order room service!

It really is a shame that there are so many ill-informed, judgemental and/or ignorant people in this world. I work in Behavioral Health and it is so true that just because a person's diability is not physically apparent they get treated differently. Sometimes, I have to remind some of my staff that our resident's did not choose to be mentally ill and that we have no idea of the challenges that they face each and every day just to be "normal".

On a happier note, I have started packing and have made a list of a few things that I still need to purchase. One suitcase is 48lbs. (I put it on the scale) :scared1: so now it is on to the second one:sad2:

Not that I am counting but ONLY 9 days until my vacation officially starts!!    And only 7 days of work!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

.......By the way, if you see a kid walking around the beach wearing tennis shoes, throw something at him and tell him to go put on the sandals his mother spent weeks shopping with him for!

One more, please add Tink*s_mama (Laura & Family)!!!

We'll be easy to spot - a 6 foot Prince Charming looking less than thrilled to be in costume, a rather round Snow White with red hair, and cute little Cinderella and Belle princesses fresh from Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. I am laughing at the mental picture already!!!!

I just said that at dinner, 8 more working days until I'm on vacation.:woohoo:

When I was younger, I use to pack weeks before a trip. Now, I can't do it. Packing is like a game of Tetris to me and I can't start a game and stop. I actually like the challenge of getting all the items in to the cases.

I worry about that as well. DD has ADHD, and recently diagnosed with Asperger's. The first cruise we only got to eat in the dining rooms twice and she wanted to eat with the kids so she didn't eat with us. The next was the 7 night and luckily we sat at a table with 2 other kids/ and some really nice families. I hope the same happens again. She has been getting better but she is not the most patient in the world and the last time once I did get up after she had finished and took her to the lab since she was ready to go.
