Anyone ever raised or is raising a teen-age boy? I know the girls are real pains but I didn't expect a boy to be one. Man oh man. God grant me the patience to survive this!! :sad2:

I used to be a teenage boy and I don't know what you're talking about!!!:rolleyes1

JD: I think that outfit should be fine for your son... remind him about the princess dress... :rotfl2:

Ok ladies.. who's planning to be in a full blown prom night gown?

Gr00vyChc :hippie:

Ok Jackie...I am right there with you, my ds is only 6 but for some reason I have not even thought about what he will wear to the dinning room :scared1: I don't know how many nights he will go but I know I want him to go some. Can little boys wear dress shorts with polo shirts? I don't want to break any rules :confused3

JD.. Dont worry bout the Formal night, He will look fine with just that. Your actually lucky your DS will compromise to that. Teenage boys are next to impossible to recon with, be fortunate. If thats what he says he wants to wear, take the ball and run with it!! Thats better than I would have done 10 years ago!! Are all the ladies gonna wear Prom dresses now, if so I have to coordinate that with Shannon, that would be fun for a night though! :woohoo: And are we still having a pajama party? I know we talked about it, but don't know if we are really doing it or not??:confused3 I'm in on all the above if everyone else is!:thumbsup2

Gettin Pretty Close!!!:hourglass

And I still hate Planes!!!:scared:

Formal night was easy for us, fortunately. My profession is as a fundraiser for a children's hospital - which means I attend lots of black tie charity events. So my DH owns a tux and I have a closet full of long dresses purchased over the past few years (NOT prom dresses, though!). My dd's also each had a pretty dressy dress from a family event this year, so we all have something formal to wear at no extra cost. We may be the ONLY ones there in tux and formal dresses, but at least our picture will look good!! :thumbsup2

I'm not looking forward to those teen years with two girls close in age. I can already hear the fights over clothes, boys, etc!! Maybe when they get to be teens, DH and I will go on cruises solo!! :rolleyes1

No Prom dress for me!! I hate the things...and last time we cruised (disney western) I TOTALLY overpacked!! I am not doing that again this year. I bought a nice dress that will actually go in a suit case and come out looking great!

When we cruised last time, by DS (then 2) wore nice shorts and polo's to dinner and he was just fine. On formal night, I had him in a cute little suit...but know that he's 5, there's no way he's going to wear a suit! I'll be lucky to get him into a polo and slacks. He's very stubborn about his clothes. I've just learned to pick my battles with him...some things aren't worth fighting over!

Raised a teen boy here too.........he's 20 now and not at all interested on going on this cruise. Will be bored and he doesn't like dressing up !
The last time he came on a disney cruise with us he was 17 (he loved the teen club, but once he got too old for it, he gave up on DCL).
This was his pic on formal night :

He wasn't thrilled with the tie but at least he wore it for me. :rotfl:

I'll show you this pic, so you can see how he dressed on semi formal night (note the sneakers !) :

As for formal night this cruise......one dd is wearing her Jr prom dress. Here is a picture of her in it :

I wore a two piece outfit on our last formal night. It's all black. The top is sleevless sequined and the pants----(yes pants)----have long flowing layers overtop them so they appear to be a long skirt. There was actually one other person on that cruise with the exact same outfit ! It was too funny when we passed eachother in the halls. I don't have a full view picture of it or I'd post it. I only have a waist up picture. Anyway.....I'm still looking for a floor length gown. I would like to wear one. DH has a black suit and tie. I don't think he'll be renting a tux, but not sure.

Ok...I printed out the list for the goody bag supplies last night, but I'm wondering if it's been updated???? Anyone know? I'm still trying to figure out what to buy. I found a few ideas and I'm just trying to decide which to get. I'll list them out...let me know if anyone already has them: Skull and Crossbones Stampers; Skull stickers; pirate pencils with skull and crossbones pencil toppers; Bubblegum Coins; Skull and crossbones Gummy Candies; Pirate Suckers; Skeleton plastic straws; Glow in the dark stretchy skeletons.

Thanks!!! Tracypirate:

well this is our cruise together, not real sure what to do.I am using a dress of my daughters for formal night , it is floor length and black, i bought my grandson who is 4 a tux, and my grandaughter a dressy dress, looks like a flower girl dress, i guess we will be overdressed? I also saw on a bring list highlighters in different colors for everyone in your group to highlight the navigator, so i bought those for the goody bags, is that okay or dumb? Now I have a question about seasickness, my grandaughter gets very car sick, so i bought the braclets she used them for the car and they worked fairly well, I also asked the Dr about ear patches can,t us them on kids, he suggested Ginger, since i work in the medical field I asked two pharmist, one said ginger works likem pappermint not that great just use peppermint, the other one said you couldn'tmuse it on kids!!!!!!So not I am confused which is easy for me to do:dance3: Thanks for all the info:banana: :rotfl2:

My doctor suggested Pehenergan gel. You just rub it on the wrist. I tired it on him already and there were no crazy side effects! The whole family can actually use it, we just double the dose for adults.

I think the highlighters for the goody bags are a fabulous idea!!

On our last cruise, my DD - who was then 4 only got sea sick on one of the days (it was a very stormy day). She is ALWAYS sick in the car...we call her our "puker". So we were surprised that she did so well. Of course, the one day that she was sick was the character bfast and formal night. She went down to bfast but didn't last (we have a few character pictures and you can tell she's sick...completely white faced  ). By dinner, she seemed to be feeling better so we took her down with us...she got about half way through dinner and started not looking so good, so Trent picked her up to carry her back to our room - he only made it to the entrance of Animators Palate before she "puked"...right in the entryway! One of those things to laugh about now!!! Anyway, I guess my point is that the ship is so big that Karlee (who gets sick in the car just going to Walmart) only got sick once and that was on a very stormy day. Because of the size of the ship, once you get your sea legs under you...you really don't feel the motion. However, they do sell children's dramamine, which is what our pediatrician suggested and it seems to work pretty good.

thanks to you how responed about seasickness, did your dr give you a script for the gel, thats a agreat idea:dance3:

Yes and I went right over to the pharmacy and got 2 syringes of it, he said he used it on a cruise himself and it worked great! I am glad to know they make it in a gel now! 1 syringe contains 20 doses for a child or 10 for an adult so I figure that will be plenty. I also have 2 patches left that I used on my last cruise.

Thank you, everyone, for putting me at ease with DS's formal night clothes choice! I totally understand the choosing your battles and battling over clothes is not one I truly wish to have. Especially when he uses such interesting adjectives to describe clothes he hates! :rotfl2: DH was commenting at lunch today that only DS will have a new wardrobe for this cruise. Of course, DS is the only one that really needs it. And the next time DS complains about dressing for dinner, I'm going to make him sit with me and look for princess dresses in his size!princess: Or better yet - Prince Charming!!! I could force him to dress and accompany his princess sister as her Prince Charming!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

For sea sickness, we're going to go armed with Bonine and Ginger. I'm also thinking of bringing grocery bags to carry to dinner (in my purse) with us in case someone can't make it to the restroom in time?? I think I would be mortified if DS or DD threw up all over the place! :scared1:

Tracy - I don't think anyone has bought bubble gum for the bags - that sounds fun.

Prom dress? No. I wore a nice dress in the wedding I was in in Vegas. If I still fit in to it (been trying to lose weight so I'm hoping it's loose on me) I will wear that. If I do, DS, DH and I will all be in black on formal night and DD will stand out in her white dress. That might make a cute picture! I may go to shopping the weekend before the cruise to see if I can find any nice dresses on clearance. I don't want to go out and buy a whole bunch of clothes I'll only have an opportunity to wear once. We are not the "dress-up" kind of people so I have a hard time buying things I'll never wear again but we'll see. I'll keep you all posted.

A PJ party? I thought you were talking PJ Bingo but we're actually having a PJ party? That might be fun. Except there is nothing special about my PJ's, I'll just look like a bum.

We can learn something about each other and have fun doing it, in good old fashioned Disney style! This is going to be so much fun! :tink:
