September 29, 2007 - Magic

i have started to pack and it is not pretty, i am trying to bring things on the list, and my suitcase is full without clothes, duct tape, hangers, clothes pins, shoe hanger, sand toys, wrinkle remover, extension cord, ziplock bags, drink carrier, stain remover, extra bag ect:::::: do we really need all of this, they also list room deorantizer, travel clock fan is this list nuts or am i?:dance3:

I'm not bringing all that stuff! I may bring one clothes pin! No sand toys. Maybe you can buy those in one of the ports before Castaway? Probably will bring a small flashlight so I can read my watch and also use it for trips to the potty in the middle of the night. Certainly not bringing duct tape. A couple of ziplock bags sound smart but not the whole box!! I did buy stain remover today, it's a small little bottle by Oxy Clean - it will fit in my purse!

We can learn something about each other and have fun doing it, in good old fashioned Disney style! This is going to be so much fun! :tink:

Take this Quiz and post your results. My results are below!

My results (Trent):

You are most like Donald Duck: Stubborn and somewhat grouchy, you sometimes wake up on the wrong side of the bed and that makes you irratable. Overall, you're a good person with a good sense of humor, when in the right mood.

I think it hits me pretty spot on. Tracy will have to post whether this is true or not...

Yep...that pretty much describes Trent...not a morning person!

Ironically, I took the quiz and I'm also Donald Duck...I guess that's why we're married!

Like I said earlier...last time I totally overpacked and I'm not doing it this time! 5 swim suits and a few pair of shorts and skirts/dress and I'm set. We packed a lot of the stuff on that list last time and didn't use all of it. We went through it this time and deleted what we knew we wouldn't use. We hardly spent anytime in our cabin...just to sleep so a lot of that was stuff we didn't need. Although the over-the-door shoe organizer is a fabulous one to have...especially with 4 people in your cabin!

Speaking of shoes, I read something about "travel wear" and it said to color coordinate your clothes (brown/khaki's OR blacks) so that you don't have to take as many pairs of shoes. I thought that was brilliant!

Shoes can take up a lot of room!! All of our evening wear will need to coordinate with one pair of shoes. And I told DH we all have to wear our tennis shoes on the day we fly down so we have them and I don't have to pack them - they take up a lot of room. So, the only shoes that I will pack will be our dinner shoes and flip flops. We will each have 3 pairs of shoes with us on the cruise and we'll just have to make do with that.

Although, I think my Mom is getting DD a pair of crocs and I'm debating getting myself a pair of the Mary Janes!

Grammy - highlighters are an awesome idea!

Jac - your son will fit in just fine with the all black outfit

As for the prom dresses - not a prom dress but I do have a few evening gowns I will be deciding between. I am trying to convince Erik to wear a tux but he really doesn't want to which I don't understand since he already has one. :confused3 One of the dresses is kind of sexay so I may wear it and then check back on the DIS for comments on how inappropriate it was! Just kidding, it's not THAT bad.

I doubt others are as obsessed with Palo, I truly think that's a DIS thing and for others, especially first timers (like me), they wouldn't know that you have to do it as soon as you board so for all planning brunch ressies, I think it'll be just fine.

Mike- congrats on no smoking!

I took that quiz and I was most like Mickey Mouse, didn't save the results though for the description.

Great Quiz! I could not get my results to copy over correctly but I am Mickey Mouse.

As for shoes, last year I packed way too many and am trying to cut it down a bit this year. It is incredibly hard though becasue we are going for two weeks and need theme park and cruise wear. So far I think I am packing the following for myself:

Merrell Sandals (bought for WDW to have one pair of shoes that go with most shorts outfits)
Running Shoes (yes, I am going to try and run at some point)
Water Shoes
Black high heel
Brown low heel

If I can get away with those shoes I will be happy. That probably about half of what I packed last year.

JD: I think that outfit should be fine for your son... remind him about the princess dress... :rotfl2:

Ok ladies.. who's planning to be in a full blown prom night gown?

Gr00vyChc :hippie:

Not me! I was lucky enough to find a picture of my dress online. Here is what I am wearing on formal night:

Jac - I think your son will be fine in that outfit for formal night. There really was a wide spectrum of outfits on our cruise last year. Last year, I did a full length gown and am scaling back a bit this year.

The only thing that I bring that is mentioned above is a few small ziplock bags just in case I want to take something from the buffet. Haven't used them yet. You would be surprised by how little you will actually need. Don't overpack. :goodvibes

do people wear their pirate costume to dinner, my grandson has a halloween pirate costume do you wear these to dinner or just the party?

Yes! I only know because of all the Trip Reports I've read and GG's picture of himself, in costume!

We each have new Pirate T-shirts and are going to wear those to dinner with jeans. I do have some pirate Mickey ears I may bring and wear but I don't know - my shirt is pink and the ears are red and white?

I will confess, when I read people buy new clothes for the cruise I thought that was silly. Most people on the cruise have never seen you before, they won't know if your clothes are new or not!! But then I did inventory of DS's closet and confirmed he didn't have appropriate clothing for dinner on the cruise so we all know that story. :sad2: Then last night, I was putting more things in to the plastic tote and discovered I have 3 brand new shirts for DD in there - totally forgot about them.:upsidedow She also has new dress sandals on the way, my Mom just ordered her some totally cute crocs to arrive in time for the cruise, and we have new swim shoes for her. DS got a new swim suit a couple of weeks ago that is in the tote, I forgot about it. Yesterday, I ordered each of us something new on disneyshopping.com. It's an addiction, shopping for cruise clothes.

We love excuses to shop too! Saturday Erik said he needed clothes for the cruise! I said you have plenty of shorts and t-shirts, evenings is like business casual?! He said "yeah, I need new cruise clothes". Um, OK whatever then, I need some too! :yay:

Am I the only woman on earth who hates shopping for clothes? And I hate malls too!:crazy2: :donald:
