September 29, 2007 - Magic

Ok...

Zayde. (That is what our kids call grandpa.) And he is coming with us. We are doing this cruise because of his 70th (shh) birthday.

Should we start over? Or do a different game?

Anyone else doing this. This past week, at work, they gave us little goodie bags and inside was a "mini" Uno deck of cards. My immediate thought, "Oh cool! We can play with that on the plane to Florida!" Came home and threw it in the bag of Disney things I've been collecting for the kiddies. Last summer, I started hitting the dollar spot at Target and I buy the Disney goodies I think my kids will like. I want to put together back-packs of stuff for them to get them in the mood on the flight. (Not that DD will need much encouraging. She wakes me up every Saturday morning asking, "Mommy? Do you want to go on the Mickey Mouse boat with me?") Even DH ordered his Pirate shirt, which was totally unexpected. All but one of us have Pirate shirts now and they're sitting on a chair, waiting for the blessed event. Anyone else have piles of "designated DCL stuff" started? With the weather warming up, I have to start buying the kids summer clothes thinking to size them big enough to wear on the cruise. Good times!! :cloud9:

Yeah we started packing things for the trip quite some time ago...There's a storage bin with pirate pirate: stuff, glow sticks and who knows what else...Plus all of the T-Shirts that we have that are waiting :hourglass for designs :surfweb: and the printer...

Yes, we're buying alcohol in Fla too. I've seen a post somewhere about local places but I'm sure it'll come up again between now and Sept.! Since we're flying in the night before, there'll be plenty of time.

Hmm, I haven't gotten anything to start packing yet. I thought about getting dd a princess dress but that'll have to wait, no idea what size she'll need then! I thought about starting to look for pirate gear, will do that shortly.

I guess I should print out our a-z list too? :rotfl:

Just got back from the mall and the disney store has pirate outfits available for the NEW pirates of the caribean coming out in May.
But I think I'll buy it just before we go on the cruise. I think my DD3 will be the only one dressing up for Pirate's night 'coz neither me or my DH want to.. or maybe just a bandana for me. :confused3

Ok how about a game that we have played in my dd girl scouts... it goes like this:
I am going on a Disney Cruise and I am going to ... Eat Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

Now the next persons types that and then adds what they are going to do.

What do you think?

We're buying alcohol in Florida but I was wondering about this...say we buy a bottle of vodka and we run out of it by the time we get to St Thomas. Are we allowed to buy alcohol in St. Thomas (just using this island as an example) and bring it on board just like we are in Florida? I know when I went to Nassau in 2000, the alcohol was super cheap!! (I hope this doesn't make DH and I sound like alcoholics but we do like to enjoy a cocktail, or two, or three...you get the point!) :goodvibes

I thought about getting DD a princess dress, too. princess: But if I don't, I don't. $$$ will ultimately decide that. I thought DH and I would have January - September to save for this cruise but it's not working out that way. We've had a very expensive start of the year and over the next 2 weeks, we have 2 out of town weddings (the first is this weekend in Vegas. I know WAH! We have to go to Vegas!! :rolleyes1)

Glow sticks!!! Those are great. I used those at Disneyland last March and it made it easy to spot where the kids were! I'll have to get Glow sticks for the cruise so we have them on Pirate night and stuff like that! Or...just to have in the room for the trips to the bathroom!! :hippie:

I'm going on a Disney Cruise and I'm going to............. eat a lot and not worry about my weight.

So we've got...

I saw somewhere on these DIS boards that you can buy but because of something to do with being a foreign country (sorry it's too early to think) that you either can't open it on the boat (they deliver last day, like with the onboard store) or if you do it open it, you must finish it. If I find the thread I'll post the link here. It was really cheap but so should the duty free at the aiport. I wonder if there's a Sam's Club somewhere nearby . . . . we don't drink much but it's vacation and I want to use our balcony for something (first time cruising with a balcony!) so yeah, I'll just go find that link.

Also reading these threads, it seems like the princess dresses are a big deal (and would make a super cute pic). I recently saw them on sale at Toys R Us and they're not $$ anyway (I think ~$20 full price) so I will definitely get her 1 when we get closer to Sept. Target probably has some too, haven't checked (yet) though.

Vegas - ENJOY!!!!!!! :dance3:

You can definitely buy alcohol on one of the islands and consume it onboard. DH and I always do that. You cannot take an open bottle off of the ship though. If you buy alcohol from DCL they will hold it for you and deliver it to your room on the last day. You cannot open DCL's alcohol onboard. :goodvibes

I found the article on Cruise Critic regarding alcohol :drinking1 policy. Here is the specific one for Disney:

http://www.cruisecritic.com/features/articles.cfm?ID=143

  • Bringing liquor onboard at embarkation: Allowed, for consumption :drinking1 in cabin.
  • Bringing wine or Champagne onboard: Allowed, corkage fee is $15.
  • Purchasing liquor in port: Allowed, for consumption :drinking1 in cabin.
  • Purchasing liquor in ships' duty-free shop: Held until debarkation.

I think the corkage fee is only if you bring your wine to dinner.

AND

I'm going on a Disney Cruise and I'm going to............. have fun 24/7.
