September 29, 2007 - Magic

Sue, are your DD and Dniece doing the BB Boutique at Downtown Disney or in MK? WHat time? My two DD are going to be in the one at Downtown Disney at 1:30 on Friday. Maybe we'll see you there??:yay:

We will be there at 12:30. I am not sure how long it takes. And if we will still be there.

Yes....the rides are all operational until the party is over (midnight). I agree, 5 hours is alot of stimulation for a little one. But if you leave at 9 pm, you'll most likely miss the Halloween fireworks/parades. I think the fireworks are at 9:30'ish. The parade shows 2 times---> approximately 8 and 10 pm. You'll get exact times when you enter the MK.

Hey !? Those of us with "big" kids love it too ! My girls are teens and they cannot wait for MNSSHP ! pirate: This is our 4th party and hopefully not our last :wizard: :hippie:

ibela....thanks for the link

When I was talking about small kids, I was meaning that my advice was for people with small kids because I was talking about how to leave the parks somewhat early and still do everything. Most teenagers I know stay up past 10:00. ;) I'm sorry if I offended you.

I'm sorry if I offended you.
Oh no way did u offend me Veronica :)
I said that all in good fun.........even when my kids were little, they loved the party so much that they closed the park down ! And that was when MNSSHP went until 1 am :scared1: :rotfl:

To all of you who are taking your kids out of school for this vacation, how did the school react? I just let my school know, and they were not very nice about it. They let it go because she is only 5. They said if she was 6 and in first grade, they would withdraw her for missing 5 days. They are unexcused abscenses and considered truency. I was actually shocked that they go to the extreme of withdrawing your child!
I know there are schools around here that react in the same way. Yet our school, which is surrounded by several of these other schools, is GREAT ! We have been taking our kids out since "K" and beyond. Our district, (bless their souls), actually allows 5 days missed for "family/personal time". Love this policy ! Not everyone can vacation easily in the summer. It used to be VERY difficult for me, as a nurse. Now that I've got some seniority at the hospital, I am given first preference for vacations. But when I first started there, if you didn't have seniority, and a nurse with more years employeed than you requested a week off, guess who got it. I went through years of seeing nurses in tears because they were turned down for vacations. One missed an opportunity for a huge family reunion in Korea because she was denied the vacation during the summer. The summer is THE most difficult time for hospital based nurses to get off.

Anyway.....back to my school. We are in a large public school district. They are very very accomodating (thankfully). The kids are allowed the same amount of time to make up the work as they took off. So,if my kids miss 5 days of school, they get 5 days to make up the work. If I go over the 5 days, that is "ok" too. I do have to alert the principal and several times the school simply assigned a report/project to the kids to be presented to their class upon their return. They had to tell their class and teacher what they learned on their vacation. This is so easy to do with a WDW/Sea World vacation. So much to learn. We used to stop by Guest Services and pick up learning materials/pamphlets/posters etc----given out free. Epcot had great stuff.......AK......Sea World......I feel blessed to have an understanding school district all these years. I really feel for you Shannon. If I were in your school, and they were this unflexible and lacking understanding, I'd just tell them my kids were out the week with the flu. I don't feel any school should have the right to dictate what parents do with their own children----as long as they are keeping up with the work. But, as Pauline mentioned, I feel it comes down to money and that upsets me. Just because teachers and administrators get off the summer, doesn't mean the rest of the world does.

Groovy!!! :hippie: When I told DH I needed to find a dollar store he first :lmao: and then told me to save us all the hassle and just spend a couple extra dollars and get the one at Target. Now I just need Target to finally put up their Halloween displays so I can shop for glow necklaces and pirate stuff.

Speaking of Pirate stuff pirate: - was at Spencer's today and they had a way cute POC purse. DH refused to let me buy it. He said he puts his foot down with my pirate t-shirts! :rotfl:

Wow!! BB Boutique is soooooooo expensive! $44.95 was the least expensive! My DD begged to get her nails done (I think $49.95 with nails).. I was like wuuuuuuuuuuuuutt?? no way.. I don't even get my nails done.
So.. no BB Boutique for her on this trip :sad1: I'll do her hair before we leave for the park :rolleyes1  ok she'll still look like a princess:

Ok.. gotta watch my General Hospital.

PWNort - I'm surprised at the upgrade, I was thinking it would be maybe a cat 10 or even a 9 only because the ship seems to have so much availability right now. I was really hoping for a Florida Resident discount because of that reason too and so far, nothing. :confused3 This time last year they were already out.

JaJoMo - Did you hear any word on your room assignment yet? Good luck!:wizard:

I have heard of people getting a better upgrade even right up to a few days before sailing so maybe that will be the case! I am giving up on the Fl. Resident rate though. It's unlikely with only 3 weeks to go.

Yay! 3 weeks to go!!!!!

Thank you for the heads up! I had been checking daily and decided that wasn't going to make it happen any faster. Now that we have an actual room number, I think I got my DH's attention. He actually was interested in knowing the details! That's a really good hint that it's really coming up! Woohoo!

We're in stateroom #6321. Now I can finally make a door sign! WOOHOO! :woohoo: :cheer2:

I'm not excited. Really. Someone believes me, right?

some say you can walk to town from ship, some say it is to far, my grandkids and me are going to walk to paradise tram, there is a bird show at the top, shopsect then be downtown for shops, but to get to a beach you'd either have to take a taxi or ride the bus, hope this helps

We got our room assignment too! We got upgraded from a 12 to an 11
Rm #5137. It is only a couple doors down from where we were on our last cruise, and we loved that location. YEAH!

We are very excited also, I was taking my mother to Costco and she said 3 more weeks and we will be on the boat, "I can't wait"! Even my father is looking forward to it;)

Gr00vyChc, we are right down the hall on deck 6.

mcraft, your signs are great!! Would you know how to take your name out of the Lilo and Stitch one? My computer knowledge when it comes to that kind of stuff is weak.

Is anybody planning rotating door signs?
