September 28, 2006 Wonder

I can't believe we're coming up on the 2 week mark! I have all of my paperwork together, but still haven't pulled out my luggage. Guess what I'm doing tonight? I 'inherited' some Mickey luggage last year, and it's in my closet somewhere...

Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternate meeting location just in case I (or anyone else) doesn't make it to the pool by 2?

17 days and counting!

Yeah, we did the online check-in right after we paid in full too.
Hopefully they'll come today.

JUst because I know you are all waiting with bated breath to know how my softball game went yesterday...I went, sore back and all, so my team would not have to forfeit, and we WON!
The opposing team forfeited! :teeth:

Yep, all that consternation for nothing.

12 days till we leave......

My packing is likely to consist of throwing crap into the suitcase or hopefully a carry-on, the night before.

reminds me.....must go check TSA web site....................

Cha cha cha cha cha "BUMP'. Cha cha cha cha cha "BUMP". :teeth:

Thirteen days and counting down :cool1:

2:00 is great for me. Since I don't know the layout of the ship I can't suggest another place for a later meet ummmmmmmmm unless it's in one of the bars.

Fatherforce, I hope you got your docs today.

I booked the Parasailing. DH thinks I'm totally wacked but hey, he should have already known that. :rotfl:

Sleepydog... Good luck on your race! I did a marathon last Saturday and my calfs are still sore. :)

Well, I'm off to the gym. Happy Monday everybody. :yay:

Father! That's too funny! And there is karma in the 'verse after all. . .shiny. Being a thrill ride maniac, parasailing is right up my alley. Can't wait!

Which marathon? And isn't it great just completing one of those suckers? I've done five, though the last was in '97. My race Saturday is a tri, though the swimming leg is replaced by a canoe. No kidding. And. I'm not a canoeist of any note. lol Could be interestin'.

I'm all for a secondary meet and time if we need. And a bar might not be a bad place! :thumbsup2 16 days until we drive to CC. Gotta get by the race first. See? There's a reason we're doing the spa on Nassau day. . .pirate:

Arriving by: Discovery Cruises / Ferry / Other Ship

Airline/Flight No. blank

Date of Arrival: 9/29/06 (date you're arriving in Nassau)

City where you boarded: if you write PTCANAVERAL with no space after PT, it just fits in the spaces

Travel Agency: your travel agency name if you used one or Disney Cruise Line if you booked through Disney's website

City of Travel Agency: Fill in if you know it - if not, no big deal

Intended Stay: 0

Type of Accommodation and Hotel Name or Intended Address: Blank or DCL Wonder if you like

Signature: You may sign for your children

You will be shocked at how little anyone looks at these forms - they check to see you signed it and that's about it. It's so not a big deal. May be a big deal for the Bahamas, but to DCL, they just want you to get it in in some fashion and that is it.

Hope that helps

Thanks, Castle! I was wondering how to get "Port Canaveral" in those little tiny boxes...

I have been doing laundry in preparation for packing. It's suddenly turned cooler and rainy her in the Ohio valley, so most of my summer things will soon go into underbed storage. Except, of course, those things I'm taking on MY DISNEY CRUISE!!! Sorry, I'm easily excited...2 weeks and 2 days for me!

If I get some time between jobs this afternoon, I'll check out the deck plans and maybe make a suggestion for an alternate meeting spot. I like contingencies: My official title here at work is Planning Associate, so I guess you could say I'm a planner!

Still no docs yet....hmmmmm.
The web site has us booked and paid for.
We do use a TA, so I'll give it one more day before freaking.

As for meeting, although I'm sure I'll spend my fair share of time in the bars, for the greet, I'd rather not do it in an adult only area.

Of course I could just leave DW with the DD....

Sleepdog, it was the RUN/WALK to Remember (for 9/11) held in Baltimore. I am really new to doing any type of thing like this and I was part of a team so I didn't do the entire course. It was fun though. I recently lost 110 Lbs. and a big part of losing that has been exercising. I never in my life thought I would ever enter a marathon but with all the exercising for 7 months, I felt that maybe I could try. It is really samazing when you reach goals. Even small ones. :thumbsup2

I will still be at the Mickey Pool @ 2:00 and if an alternate place and time is decided on for those that can't be at the pool, then I will meet there too so I can give out the wristbands. :cool1:

Thanks Castlegazer for the info. I wasn't sure how to fill out the forms.

FatherForce. Call your TA and ask where your docs are. I am sure you will get them soon. :woohoo:

Got our docs today :thumbsup2
They sent them to our TA and she sent them to us.
She also sent a laynard w/ a DCL Bus pin and a nifty DCL waterproof container thingy for our KTTW cards and stuff.
Very Nice surprise.

That is tremendous that you were part of the run/walk! Goals are everything in exercising, and I am impressed with your dedication. Taking part in that run/walk is no small goal, either. Congrats! You are probably to the point (if you haven't gotten there already) if you skip a couple of days of exercise you feel off-centered. Ask Doc. She'll tell you how I get when I've had to eschew running for a few days-- :darth:

Congrats, FF, on getting your docs. Time is closing in. . .pirate:

That is a nice surprise FatherForce!

May I make a small suggestion on the meet?

We had two meets also. WE intended to have the first one at the Mickey Pool and then We had our second meet time right after the lifeboat drill up on Deck 10 starboard at the forward elevator banks. The characters will come out that door for the party so the kids will get a first and up close glimpse of them as they prepare to go down to the stage and you get some nice seats for the party, plus you get a great view for the sailaway - be sure to wave at everyone at Grills.

This allows everyone to eat lunch, get unpacked, and then be somewhere they are going to be anyways. It's nuts with people and loud, so it may not be conducive to talking and everyone is too busy watching the sailaway, but it may work as a second meeting place for those who can't make the first.

You will find that once you board, you go eat immediately, you go take care of Palo and other ressies, then you go to the room and unpack, and then suddenly it's time for the lifeboat drill. Its crazy how fast it goes by. No one made that first meet.

What did work for a ton of us was just meeting up in the terminal. We knew each other due to our wrist bands and sharing photos on a Yahoo group site. We all gathered after getting the kids' beepers, over on the right hand side (as you're facing the Wonder) in the first row of bench seats by the TVs. That worked great and started the trip wonderfully. We were right in front of the characters as everyone was getting their photos and we could see people coming into the terminal easily also.

(we had 18 months of planning time to perfect our meets and still only a small fraction of people made each one).

We also had a brunch at Palo with 14 of the 70 of us, we had meets at night at the clubs, we had meets during the day at the Mickey pool.

It's very good to have a couple other times planned out for people who find that first day just plain too hectic to make it anywhere.

We're up to trying whatever works. We plan to make the 2 p.m. meet, but certainly are up to more than one meet. . .I feel certain there will be more than enough libations to go around. pirate:

You don't wanna know. . .and I'm not really a lounger kinda dog. . .more of a runner. . .
No, if Doc packs for me, then I'd need a second suitcase. As it is, I think I may need to leave room in my bag for her. Shhhhhh. . .don't tell her I said that. I will likely pack the day before since that's all the time I need. Doc? Well, let's just say she has clothes hanging all over the room already. . .I need a compass to navigate in our bedroom. . .oops, did I say that aloud? Just kidding, dear.

Guys, I am here for you and any questions you guys have leading up to the final days, but I had to cancel.

It was such a stretch for us leaving the kids and the Grammies gave me grief this week about it so much so that we just decided to say, we'll go some other time. Timing was stinking for some other things too.

I am sorry. While I wasn't going to be meeting up with you all, you guys are going to have a wonderful time and I was looking forward to bumping into you guys on board.

:guilty:

Castlegazer - I am so sorry you had to cancel your plans! I was looking forward to meeting you. Hope you are able to cruise again soon!

From Castlegazer: "We had our second meet time right after the lifeboat drill up on Deck 10 starboard at the forward elevator banks. CastleGazer: I am sorry you had to change your plans. We really appreciate all of your wisdom about forms, meets, realizing that we need to pack for 3 DAYS not weeks :rolleyes1 Hope things go well for your family. pixiedust:

Mickey4Diane: I like the idea of meeting on Deck 10 after the lifeboat drill. This can be our second meet. We can try to do the "Mickey pool meet" (I think left ear would be good) at 2:00 if you can make it then have the "Deck 10 post-drill pre-party meet" for any others. It will also give us good viewing of the party. I have also read that it is a good place to hear the horn :cool1:

What say we all?? Does this sound good?? :smickey:
