Wow, am I behind!

Thank you all for the prayers for my father in law. He passed away a week ago, its not been easy, but he was suffering at the end. Now I have to go catch up on all the Disney planning to keep my mind busy now that all the extended family has gone home.

I am very sorry for your loss. Hugs to you and your family.

Just got home from the cruise around midnight. It feels so great to be home, however going from 85 to 40 sucks! The cruise was awesome, except on the first night DS tripped and manage to hit his head perfectly on the corner of the bathroom and closet. He looked exactly like scar from the lion king for our whole trip. :confused3 It was terrible, and I was really upset after it happened, it was really scary to be honest because he had an indention on his eyebrow, almost like his broke the bone. I dont know how to explain BUT the trip improved greatly after that little event! The islands were beautiful, as was the ship but their was very little for DS to do so we spent most nights sitting out on the balcony while he slept. I dont think another cruise will be in our future for some time unless it is Disney or NCL since they are more 'family friendly'. I left the trip even more excited for Disney bc DH had been bugging me to try out other vacations with DS and after this experience we are happy to say Disney will be our vacation of choice for awhile to come. We dont like being in our hotel room during vacation, and this trip we really had no other choice. Cant wait for September now!!

I'm glad you're back! I'm sorry that your son got hurt though. That must have been so scary. I'm with you though, I won't do a cruise with my little guys... too small of a room!

DaniB- How did you do the red shirt?! Well, for that matter... where did you get a bleach pen? It looks like these would be super simple and cheap to make! That is what I like best. :rotfl2:

Has anyone done the Keys to the Kingdom tour or any other tour offer at WDW? I'm looking for something different and fun to do on our trip. It's only my DH and I going on this trip:cloud9:.
I have us going to the Captain's Grille for our anniverary. Has anyone dined there? Is it appropriate for an anniversary dinner?
I love all the pictures everyone is posting and all the creative ideas being tossed around. Reading this thread is getting me very excited for my trip.

The wash finished! I couldn't wait until they dried, so I just laid them out on the table to take photos. :lmao:

My son's shirt did turn out great! Looks better in person than the photo:

Now my daughter's was a different pattern. I was using the "spiral mickey mouse head - freehand" for her shirt. As I suspected, I didn't leave the bleach on long enough. In fact, I don't believe the spiral MMH even shows up in the photo.

When it dries, tomorrow I'll re-trace with the bleach pen and leave it on for 10 minutes. I'll show another pic of it tomorrow - hopefully a good one!

BTW, these were the same brand & same material shirts. Just two different colors.

yes - how did you do your son's shirt! Duplicating minds need to know :D

"duplicating minds" :rotfl: I like that!

It was super easy & cheap!!

- you need a shirt (cost me $4 CAN at Walmart)
- clorox bleach pen (I've heard Wal-Mart has them - I found it at a grocery store here - maybe $4?)
- regular liquid bleach
- mist style spray bottle
- a MMH JPG from the creative design board (I can upload a pic here if you'd like)
- cardboard to go between the front & back of the shirt

Take the MMH image and increase it to 10" in whatever program you use (I used WordPerfect). Print it out. I used double-sided adhesive to tape it down on cardboard and then cut out the MMH.

Put cardboard between the front & back of the shirt. Make sure the entire back of the shirt is protected. I forgot about the small area by the label and got bleach there. So there is a small bit of discoloring showing on the back of the shirt up by the neck.

Then just spray bleach around the MMH template. Leave the template there!

Now use the clorox bleach pen to write a name, or whatever you want.

I let the bleach sit for 10 minutes. Then removed the template & the cardboard layer, and rinsed & rinsed the bleach off the front of the shirt. I just supported the shirt underneath with one hand, and gently rubbed the bleach off with my other hand - under cold water the whole time. I was afraid the bleach would run, but it didn't!!

If doing more than 1 shirt, after you rinse the shirt, let the first shirt sit in a sink full of water while designing the second shirt.

Then I threw them both in the washer on cold. And then hung to dry.

Both shirts are dry now, and the spirals show up better on my daughter's. I'm going to take a photo of it, and then re-apply the bleach using the bleach pen. After I finish my tea that is. It's at the right hotness! :surfweb:

Ohh, here's a link to the clorox bleach pen:

After one sewing lesson. I made this today. Pillowcase(Caroline--youcanmakethis.com) dress and a matching one for her AG doll!! I am hoping to make the Cris Cros top in a few wks. I might take in this dress cause the size the pattern was for a 8 is huge. My DD is little I guess compared to the 8 of this pattern.

Ohh that looks great! Too bad my daughter wouldn't wear one of these (she's going on 12). I'd love to give it a try.

O I'm so sorry JBMOM :(

O and Forthelove.... even if I only get my kiddos one thing per day with four of them that adds up quick ;) Plus my DH wants to drink around the world LOL and then theres the BBB, and I'm thinking about a Harmony barbershop stop for the youngest...... and Pick a Pearl and Build a Lightsaber and probably two bins of Potato parts ;) LOL O and the silhouettes I want of them....... See how fast it adds up?? LOL :rotfl:

I have a better idea...forget the kids , let us take our money and go shopping for us:lmao: What we moms don't do for our kids:thumbsup2 It does add up, isn't that the truth. Yeah I didn't add in my BBB for dd(7) and the hair wrapping for dd(11), Character in flight, etc. Thanks for reminding me of all I have to get...man I better make good tips this summer:rotfl:

That's awesome Michelle... gonna try to make one this weekend... did you use binding on the openings of the arms or ribbon casings?

Hold the phone! I want details. Did you use a sewing machine? Did you have 2 pieces of fabric with seams down the side (I know some dresses are actual pillowcases, is this one)? Inquiring minds want to know!

I used a my mom's old singer sewing machine, No computer machine here...I wish. I used a few yards of fabric and a pattern for the youcanmakethis.com) It was called the Caroline. No it's not pillowcase, fabric

Do you guys think it would be inappropriate for me to wear one of those pillowcase dresses?! :lmao: They look super comfortable and are adorable!!!

I know, I thought the same thing! It could always be made into a long tunic and worn with shorts or leggings. Hmmm.... :yay:

I actually do have a pattern that is same concept but a top instead of a dress. Looks cute to me. I might make something for me once I find a cool Mickey pattern. DD(11) said I could make sure something like that only if I found some cool retro Mickey print...black and white, Peace like, vintage, etc. Not sure where I will find that!:confused3
