September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

The wash finished! I couldn't wait until they dried, so I just laid them out on the table to take photos. :lmao:

My son's shirt did turn out great! Looks better in person than the photo:

Now my daughter's was a different pattern. I was using the "spiral mickey mouse head - freehand" for her shirt. As I suspected, I didn't leave the bleach on long enough. In fact, I don't believe the spiral MMH even shows up in the photo.

When it dries, tomorrow I'll re-trace with the bleach pen and leave it on for 10 minutes. I'll show another pic of it tomorrow - hopefully a good one!

BTW, these were the same brand & same material shirts. Just two different colors.

Those look great! How did you rinse them off, just run them under running water? I am afraid doing that will make the bleach run?

After one sewing lesson. I made this today. Pillowcase(Caroline--youcanmakethis.com) dress and a matching one for her AG doll!! I am hoping to make the Cris Cros top in a few wks. I might take in this dress cause the size the pattern was for a 8 is huge. My DD is little I guess compared to the 8 of this pattern.

One lesson, are you kidding me? Those are fantastic!!

Do you guys think it would be inappropriate for me to wear one of those pillowcase dresses?! :lmao: They look super comfortable and are adorable!!!

Nice, and I totally agree, they look very comfortable!

Wow, am I behind!

Thank you all for the prayers for my father in law. He passed away a week ago, its not been easy, but he was suffering at the end. Now I have to go catch up on all the Disney planning to keep my mind busy now that all the extended family has gone home.

Very sorry for your family's loss, Becky! :grouphug:

AWESOME!! I am SOOOO jealous!!! Did you have an actual sewing lesson someplace or online instructions or ?? I don't even know what half the terminology means......someone on here mentioned bindings? Umm, huh?? :confused3:rotfl: Great job! :cheer2:

Just got home from the cruise around midnight. It feels so great to be home, however going from 85 to 40 sucks! The cruise was awesome, except on the first night DS tripped and manage to hit his head perfectly on the corner of the bathroom and closet. He looked exactly like scar from the lion king for our whole trip. :confused3 It was terrible, and I was really upset after it happened, it was really scary to be honest because he had an indention on his eyebrow, almost like his broke the bone. I dont know how to explain BUT the trip improved greatly after that little event! The islands were beautiful, as was the ship but their was very little for DS to do so we spent most nights sitting out on the balcony while he slept. I dont think another cruise will be in our future for some time unless it is Disney or NCL since they are more 'family friendly'. I left the trip even more excited for Disney bc DH had been bugging me to try out other vacations with DS and after this experience we are happy to say Disney will be our vacation of choice for awhile to come. We dont like being in our hotel room during vacation, and this trip we really had no other choice. Cant wait for September now!!

WELCOME BAAAAAAAACK!!!! Sorry to hear about the mishap! It wasn't bad enough for sutures, was it? Just wondering if you paid a visit to the ship doctor or not.

I know this is COMPLETELY OT, guys (I've been stewing on this one for a while, and have finally decided to ask, knowing you guys won't judge me!:rotfl:) I've got a question only the learned Disneyholic can answer. Where do I find the schedules for hours on the dates we'll be there? I have managed to score an 8:05 ADR at CP during one day of our stay. The rest of that week is blacked out until at least 9 am. It has looked like that since our 180th day. So, now I'm worried that I may have a date with morning EMH, or some sort of event that may cause us problems. So I can get some peace of mind, can someone PLEASE tell me where to find that schedule?:yay: TIA, I love this group!

I was afraid of that as well. But I just supported the shirts with one hand underneath, and used used my other hand to gently rub off the bleach quickly under cold water. I was pleasantly surprised to find the bleach didn't run! :thumbsup2

Here's a bunch of links for you. The first two are the Travel Agent's Calendar for September and October. For some reason, Disney sees fit to keep that calendar more up-to-date than their own.

The next link, on post #10 - has a link for each month in the TA calendar from Robo. These calendars get updated as each new month/year arrives. Handy to keep bookedmarked!

Wow, thanks for all of the help, DaniB! And I guess maybe I'm not crazy; they DO have EMH at MK that morning. :sad2: That means no early entry durig our stay, and no picture in front of a nearly deserted castle. I know it's stupid, but that's been the goal of this trip for me. Everything else I've done for the DDs and DH, this was supposed to be my "one thing" on the trip. Oh, well. Maybe next time. :sad1:

Us not judge----Ha "Hey everyone did you see that girl over there who doesn't know the Disney schedule?":rotfl: So just kidding! :) Don't you love having the Dis where we all get excited cause we finally found someone who understands our Disney Love--obsession:rotfl2:
I went on here http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm and then clicked Sept hours. Hope this helps you!!:):):)

Yes one lesson....not sure I understand everthing either but enough that when I was alone I could do the doll dress alone. My friend taught me. I am gonna try a cris cros top next. I have 5 tops to make and 3 skirts so I am gonna try and get a chunk down before I start summer job in May.....oh I better get busy.

Amy--Binding/bias seems like something you do to make the seam like around neck, arm holes more finished and stronger. I just folded it in then again and created my on.....they called it bias in my pattern. For my first one I wasn't concerned with binding...:rotfl:

Thanks for all ur guys encouragement!!

JBMOM---I am so sorry for your loss! :sad1: It's always hard no matter the age!

Here's the MMH spirals on my daughter's shirt. After it dried, I re-applied the bleach and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then washed off the bleach and threw in the washer. This is how it looked this morning. Both kids wore their shirts to school today.

IMG_1534.jpg

Not bad. I think it would have shown up better on a darker shirt, or if I had let the bleach sit longer. In any case, my DD is happy with it! :goodvibes

I made the spiral Mickey head shirts too. First time was on light blue, then on dark blue. Used a Clorox gel pen both times. Very easy to use and it doesn't run. Light blue shirts turned out nice, but not a big contrast. Dark blue shirts bleached a pinkish color. I liked it, DH not so much. My advice is to angle your Mickey head so that you are not placing ears on your female parts. ;)

:lmao: Nothing draws attention like 2 big white mickey ears:lmao:

That's pretty much why I decided I'm not making the spiral shirts for DH & I. :lmao: I certainly do not need to draw extra attention there...

The stenciled MMH pattern, that I like. But it may need to be better placed as well.

My next attempt is going to be a full body shiloutte of a character!! I'd love an orange shirt with Goofy for my husband. And a blue shirt with Donald in a temper for me. ;)

OMG!! I can't even find my last post and I have no idea what it was!! LOL!
Just an update here. I changed my Sept 29 Akershus from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This way we can get daughter in her princess dress without really rushing to get to breakfast. We'll still be able to get to park by opening, AK, I'm hoping and we'll do a little site seeing before breakfast.

DaniB & ForTheLoveOfDCL Your projects turned out wonderfully! So proud of you guys!!! If only I had as much time as ideas I have. :lmao: DD1 seems to hamper my progress alot of the time; but she is so cute I can't hold it against her. :goodvibes I figure one day I will be able to get some stuff done...... I love all the projects and ideas it keeps me inspired!

I'm just checking in I have been MIA for a few days. So I need to figure out where I left off. If that is possible.

Yeeeahhh, I'm not even going to try to play catch up. I think you guys were below 200 before I left. Geez!

:rotfl2:

Our cruise was fantabulous!!! I look forward to our next one since it will probably be in 2012 and our youngest will be old enough to go to the kids' club. We had to entertain a toddler the whole time which was like a full time job, but she absolutely loved the violinist that played every night, so it was a nice break each night.

Just about 5 months until our trip! Woot!

I did get told today by my boss that I'm not allowed to take vacations anymore because nothing gets done when I'm not here. It's a mix of nobody knowing how to do my job and me having too many duties that have to get done every day. Too bad! I'm outta here in September!
