September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

I honestly think I'm going crazy now. Any tips on getting through these next 14 days?! The boys must be going crazy too because they have been quite the stinkers. :scared1:

Oh I totally understand!! I am getting antsy at work and counting down.....
15 days left til POP, 13 til my vacation actually starts. My full vacation starts at 9/5 at 3pm (yep, I am working labor day) til 9/15 at 6:30am. I go between being really nice cause I am excited to really annoyed because I don't want to be here!! ;)

Where is the fast-forward button when you need it!! :rotfl:

In 2 weeks from right now I will be on a plane trying to hold back my excitement and also trying to entertain a 2 and 4 year old on my way to DISNEY WORLD!!! :cheer2:

I felt the same way today when I saw that it was only 18 Days!!!!! I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it. I went through my "disney bag" today and inventoried all the stuff I have gotten so far and we are on a roll....just a few more things left to get...Sneakers for myself and Cod-Man, Backpack for DH, Socks for me and BabyK, Bonine (for the plane ride and some park rides, I am such a wimp...lol), Tide to go Pen (I usually get stuff on me at the WORST moments), Decorations for our room and windows (It's Cod-Man's birthday on the 24th so we are celebrating down there and BabyK's first trip..what will you all use to decorate your rooms?), make Mousekeeping envelopes and fill them...I know I am forgetting something...time to get my notebook and passporter out....lol

It's be sooo beautiful around here the past few days weatherwise, took the kids to the zoo yesterday...but we will see what the weather holds for us this weekend....according to our news Irene may still be intact when she hits here this weekend....not GOOD for my weekend plans!!

We are decorating with window clings (disney & halloween), I have a spider web & spider, and of course Mickey heads courtesy of Home Depot... plus we made garland with our names spelled out on mickey heads and a big sign for the door with my dis name...

Love the idea of pre-filling the envelopes... What is the standard for tipping Mousekeeping - how much - there are 2 adults & 2 kids in the room and its the first time I have stayed onsite...

Tipping is always a personal choice. We do $1 per person per day and leave the mousekeeping envelope out each day in a visible location. Two more envelopes for the ME driver - $5 each way for our family.

To decorate our resort window.. I am gonna try something new and hope it works....

I came across this gorgeous puzzle.... It is a 3d circle puzzle that has Mickey and co. in the center and as the circle continues outward they are surrounded by many of the best known Disney characters. It is about 16in in diameter and made of hard material. We glued it together and gonna put a wire on the back and hang it in the window with a suction cup!!

Cool! :thumbsup2 Unique idea.

Our check in time is 3pm ( I think) but it seems others are checking in earlier. How? :) Not that I think it will matter because we have pretty much fine tuned our drive to arrive just in time for check in lol

also I like the idea of decorating the door. Got any pics or anything of your past set ups?

We like to check-in as early as possible! One, we do online check-in, but even if you don't do that, you can still show up early. They will go through the same check-in process, but your room may not be ready yet. If your room is available, you can move right in! If not, they will contact you when it is ready.

DH and I are talking with his family about going next year for Christmas, well December 8-15! I really hope it all works out! Who else is already starting to plan their next trip?

After 9 years, we are skipping next year to save for a Med. cruise. I'm already going through withdrawal! Hope it works out for you. BTW, I am so impressed that you are a first timer and have done a pre-trip report and maintaining this thread...I've never even posted anything! Way to go!

That sounds really cute! DH is finishing our basement and it will soon be ready for me to paint. We are doing it in Disney theme. One of those puzzles would be great for down there. Would you mind telling me where you got it?

If your room is ready, you will be able to check in regardless of the time. That's a really neat perk for staying on property. ;)

JEALOUS!! ;) We would love to go next year but we would be really stretching ourselves and probably not being too fiscally responsible...so 2013 it is! We will definitely be going back no later than then and looking at Sept. or October again since I have a feeling we will love MNSSHP! Thinking either AoA or Pop for that time.

As for door/window decorations, I am waiting for Walgreens to get their Halloween stuff in since they're sure to have Disney window clings for about $1.00! That is probably just about the extent of it.

I feel totally lueless about threads, discussions, etc, so I will just jump in with my question. We are going to DW in July. It will be me, DH and DD. Our friends are also going and there are four of them. We want to do DW for 4 days and Sea World for two days. We want to stay at Pop Century. Can we do this even though we are not going to DW all the nights we are there? Will we need to stay at a diff. resort? What about meal plan, as we would love to do that for the days we do DW. I know these have probably been addressed about a thousand times, but I can't find them. Also, are we better off getting on nice suite or two value rooms? Thanks!

Am I crazy in that I am (almost) more looking forward to all the food I plan on eating and hotel & pool (I have never been to POP), then I am the rides and attractions at all 4 parks combined??

I would love to be a DVC member one day:cloud9:

I know for a fact that you can stay at the hotels regardless of which parks you go to. You do not have to move to a non-Disney hotel to go to Sea World or Universal. Heck you could go to no park and be able to stay at the hotel.

I do believe if you are on the dining plan you have to do it every night you are there, unless you book 2 seperate reservations, one with DDP and one without. But you can always combine credits to go to a signature dinner or a dinner show if you choose to.

I do not know much about the suites vs 2 rooms, that is a personal preference with pricing and how many people you have. One thing I have read that is good to know is if you get 2 rooms you will have 2 bathrooms, vs 1 bathroom in a suite. If I am wrong, anyone, please correct me.

I am by no means an expert but there are lots of people on the DIS boards who can answer your questions, as well as reading through all the stickys in each forum.
