September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Am I crazy in that I am (almost) more looking forward to all the food I plan on eating and hotel & pool (I have never been to POP), then I am the rides and attractions at all 4 parks combined??

No you are not crazy. I am really looking forward to time around the pool. Every other time we went we never got enough relax time. so this time we promised each other (DH and I) we would make sure we had time to sit by the pool and relax...with a
As for the food, can't really comment since it is always a challenge for me. Lactose and gluten intolerant because of an illness.
However, this time I'm kind of looking forward to it since, I am more comfortable letting "chefs" know about this and I am more willing to speak up if there is an issue. After all I don't want to ruin my trip because I drank or ate something I shouldn't.
My dream is to talk DH into AP's every year and eventually DVC. He's just not ready yet he always brings up some Caribbean island or a cruise. Yet, we've done a couple of the Caribbean islands and we always agree we're happier at Disney (and safer).
Besides, Disney has cruises. Hmmm maybe the next trip I should throw in a couple of days of a Disney cruise. Now I just need to plan a way to do the DVC.

We will be returning in Sept 2012 as well! We havent booked yet because we are doing a big family trip the end of March 2012 with my parents, and my cousins family down to Orlando to check out Universal (Harry Potter! ) and Disney for 10 days. So DH would kill me if I booked a 2nd vacation for next year when we have yet to go on this years one! Althought I must admit, if a BB offer is in our room for free dining next Sept, we will be booking that!

Count us in the planning for the next trip, too! We've got January booked already...just a long weekend. We are planning a September trip for about the same time as this year and then probably early December.

I don't think we'll do a long trip to WDW next year, but we'll do a couple short ones.

We are planning a trip to Hawaii in May 2012, so we'll probably check out Aulani for a couple days.

We are headed up to Tennessee for Labor Day weekend and I keep forgetting that I have to pack for that trip. Lol. I want to pack for Disney already!

That sounds really cute! DH is finishing our basement and it will soon be ready for me to paint. We are doing it in Disney theme. One of those puzzles would be great for down there. Would you mind telling me where you got it?

I actually got it at the store I work at... Meijer. However, I did a web search and found lots of other places (including amazon) that carry it.

It is called circle of friends.... and I was wrong about the diameter...its 18 not 16.

Send an email to the specialdiets@disneyworld.com. They will send you a form to fill out and return. On the form you list allergies food intolerances etc.... That way when you go to eat you mention to your server that you filled out the form. Usually a chef will come out and talk to you.
I have an allergy to milk, but also follow a vegan diet. I have had no trouble at resturants.
Even the quick service areas will work with you. Disney is awesome at working with special diets.

Ur not crazy - we do what we have to in order to get out kids to sleep - maybe take it down during the day for mousekeeping or just explain to them - I'm sure others have done stranger things lol

We are decorating with window clings (disney & halloween), I have a spider web & spider, and of course Mickey heads courtesy of Home Depot... plus we made garland with our names spelled out on mickey heads and a big sign for the door with my dis name...

Love the idea of pre-filling the envelopes... What is the standard for tipping Mousekeeping - how much - there are 2 adults & 2 kids in the room and its the first time I have stayed onsite...

I plan to do $1 a day per person in the room, so it will be $4 a day and I will leave it out daily in case we don't have the same mousekeeper every day

Tipping is always a personal choice. We do $1 per person per day and leave the mousekeeping envelope out each day in a visible location. Two more envelopes for the ME driver - $5 each way for our family.

I never thought of tipping the ME driver is this something you just do or have you heard of others doing it?

As for door/window decorations, I am waiting for Walgreens to get their Halloween stuff in since they're sure to have Disney window clings for about $1.00! That is probably just about the extent of it.

I have heard other people say they put the child on one side of the room and then the parents sleep on the furthest bed and pile all the blankets and stuff on the bed in the middle to make a "wall"....hope you figure something out....have to do what you have to do to get them babies to sleep

That's a good idea too and I'll try that Saturday when we stay at a hotel in the Quad Cities in a 2 queen room! At Disney we have a king room so no extra bed but hopefully a little extra floor space to put the pack 'n' play.
