September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Thanks a lot guys for your input, you've made me feel better about cancelling a few ADR's. Now I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've been using touringplans to decide where we're going on which days. Then I looked at easy wdw and noticed that they added F! to the day we were doing DHS, which upped the crowd by a lot. Touring plans hadn't added the F! yet, so I decided to follow easy wdw's recommendation and go on the 28th. (We're only doing 1 day here). Now touring plans has updated their site and added F!, but they're saying DHS is recommended on another day and has a lower crowd level by 3 points. BUT, if I switch, I'll loose my Ohana ressie! So, in your experience, which is a more reliable site; Touring Plans or Easy WDW?

First, let me say I think you are so smart to change your dining plans! And I love your choices. As far as the crowd levels, I look at both sites and figure the truth lies somewhere between the two. In September, the crowds really aren't much of a factor. That's why we love going in September. They have added Fantasmic every night in September, so it is really a guess as to what that will do to crowd levels at HS. Just pick the day that works for your ressies and it will probably be fine. :thumbsup2

BorkBorkBork, add me as a fan of your work. And what a lot of work you did! Everything looks fantastic. Can't wait to get my shirts done. You've inspired me!:goodvibes

On a personal note, I've paid my balance as of Monday and am doing the happy dance.:dancer: Only 43 more days until lift off...getting so excited!! Catching everyone else's excitement too...keep it coming!party:

I've been stalking the dining reservations to try and get a later reservation for our arrival day. Finally today I had 2 choices. Now I don't have to worry about being late.

Paid our balance off last week and now we have 49 days!!

Target ALWAYS has halloween shirts...Old navy too. its a little early. Usually they are out in September.

FYI...has anyone used TIW? I'm trying to see if its worth it. 20% off, but then an 18% gratuity, my DH thinks it may be a rip off....

We will be using TiW for the first time this trip. The way we look at it....it's paying for our tips. We would tip around 18% anyway and with it added onto the tab, we don't have to think about calculations. Plus, we like that it includes drinks too. We do like to have a child-UNfriendly drink every once in a while.

:thumbsup2

Also, we are going to eat at the places we eat no matter what, so why not get some sort of discount? We've done the DDP a few times, but we always end up have to eat just to eat because we don't want to waste credits. On trips that we don't have the DDP, we book what we think we will want and if we decide that we don't feel like eating, we cancel the ADR. We can't have that flexibility on the dining plan.

My ticker as of tommorow will no longer be in months but days. I just notice it. :dance3:

I have all my Mickey mail and I'm ready for this vacation. But it sort of feels more real since I got the rest of the Mickey mail on Monday.

That is awesome!!!! I don't know why my stomach sank when I read this. I'm, of course, excited about going to WDW... but I'm also nervous. Last summer we went on a 6 day family vacation and lets just say that it was certainly NOT smooth sailing. I'm just praying that this vacation is much better. The boys didn't sleep well at all in our villa so I'm hoping that they sleep better at Pop. I just keep telling myself that they'll be so tired from being in the parks all day that they'll just pass out in the room. If not, then we'll be down splashing around in the Goofy's splash area at 1:00 in the morning. :rotfl2:

How late does the pool at POFQ stay open? My DD really wants to swim, but I don't want it to take away from our time in the parks. If it's open late, we too will be 1 of the familys down in the pool at 1am LHarper! Only 44 days to go! It's getting so close!

Actually our first couple of dis vacations when the girls were younger were hard. They slept fine but it was just sort of overwhelming at some points. I think we were just over scheduled with adr's and BBB apointments and stuff.

Last year was the first year one dd 2 and the other just turned 5 we had a great vacation. But last year was the year we just decied to stick with the QSDP. I'm not sure if that is what made the diffrence or not. But we just go so much more done. We never went back to the resort. But there limit was about 8 hours. I'm hoping to have another great vacation. The girls were truly amazing last year. I thougth we would miss out on charcters beacuse we weren't doing all the adr's. But most of the lines for them were really short.

If you are like me you can read your kids and know when they are just about done. I'm hoping this year we can do more than 8 hours. My youngest is at the point that if she falls asleep for a hour she can stay up til 9pm with no issues.

Another thing we do is only do 2 parks in a row the 3rd day we take a break day. We will go to a WP that day or head to DTD and disney quest. That helps also. WE go for 10 days so we get 2 sort of break days from the 4 major parks themselves.

I really am so excited for this trip that I feel like I'm bursing at the seams. You will probably see your Mickey mail by next week. Just a FYI Goofy's splash hasn't worked for awhile now. But the kids pool has the same sort of little fountains in it.

I think they close the pool slide down at 9pm. But I think you still can use the pool. I'm not sure on that one. I do know POP's pool is open 24 hours and I think the guards are done at 9pm also there.

I'm bursting with you, especially today! :rotfl:I think my girls' ages right now are at our advantage (14 and 11), and I'm hoping we can all hang, especially on the 27th when we have an 8:05 am ADR at CP and MNSSHP tix until midnight. :scared1: I'm most concerned about my youngest DD. She's a tough cookie, but she's very, very small for a kid her age (the rest of us are tall, tall, tall). So, every time the rest of us take a step, she'll take two, and I'm trying to be diligent about making sure she doesn't overdo. I think that day especially will be a day where we break to the hotel for a while in the heat of the day, and swim and nap. :woohoo:

I think TIW is great. Multiple reasons: alcohol is included in the 20% off, yes they add the tip on but you would be tipping anyways (if he needs numbers remember to add the tip to the meal price when comparing, a $20 meal with tip would be $23.60 but with TIW the same meal would be $19.60 with tip), but at counter service they don't add tip so there are a few great values in there, and the final reason for us is we usually share plates since there is so much food the dining plan just doesn't work for us.

Hope this helps!

We just got a message from Tony's Town Square regarding our adr on Sept 15th.... as the park is closing at 6pm, the restaurant is gonna close at 3pm. As a result, they are cancelling our 5:10pm ressie!!!!
We now have to find a new place to eat!!! I thought about seeing if we could go for lunch, but I checked the lunch menu, and a lot of the stuff from the dinner menu is gone.... so not gonna try that route.

As all our ADRs were made thru our DU TA, I decided to go thru her and try to get an ADR for Cape May.... anyone tried there? Neither DM or I like clams or mussels, But I absolutely LOVE crab legs!!

I know I have to remind my husband that his walk is like a run to my 5 year old. The first couple of days I need to remind him that he needs to slow down. He does try and I'm sure he feels like he is walking like a snail. But I even have a hard time keeping up with him. We take breaks in the parks sit down somewhere in the shade and have a icecream ect. That usually gives us a second wind.

I worry about the same thing. If Sophia gets too tired than we are also going to take a pool break. Hey, I may need that break too:laughing:

Been a busy week but needed to stop by and check my ticker! Got the fabric for the girls Minnie Mouse dresses the other day but probably wont work on those for a few weeks. Me and a pattern had a minor disagreement yesterday and it has frustrated the enthusiasm out of me for the moment. Haha. Check out these super cute digital scrapbook sets for Disney that I found!

That stinks!! You would think the computer wouldn't allow you to make and ADR if the park is closed?? I guess that is another problem with WDW website that could use a look over.

I was also worried about Cape May, but after reading some other comments from folks, I decided to take a chance. From what I read from other threads, there are lots of other food choices besides seafood. DBF is a seafood person and I am not. I hope you enjoy!!

We were just there in June. Our kids love it there. Everyone always finds something to eat. There are plenty of crab legs!

There are a wide variety of things to eat at Cape May. There are meats like pork loin, flank steak, and roasted chicken as well as other salads and pasta dishes. There are soups and things like that too. Don't worry. Even if you don't like seafood, there is lots to eat.

Back when we made the ADR for Tony's the park was scheduled to be open till 9pm.... they changed it a few months ago to 6pm (but never gave word as to why). Since nothing was said, I figured our 5:10pm ressie would still be good and we would leave the park when we were done. I don't know if Tony's just now decided to close at 3pm or what, but it would have been nice to know sooner.... I am hoping my TA can get us an ADR at Cape May. It is good to know there are a wide variety to choose from...

Can anyone recommend a good place to find short sleeve Halloween shirts? The only ones that I can find are all long sleeved. I want to bring shirts for my kids to wear to the MNSSHP just in case they get to hot in their costumes.

The Children's Place usually has Halloween T-shirts ...that's a good reminder for me to check them out when I am done on DIS tonight

Can anyone recommend a very basic tie dye kit to use with little kids? I am thinking about trying it with my little ones.
