September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Cancelled my DxDP and downgraded to the DDP. :( I'm sad about it and dh and I are major foodies and were soooo looking forward to all the yummy looking food at the World but I'm really worried that we won't be able to enjoy dining with our four kids. They're 3, 4, 7 & 9, but the 3 yr old (who will just barely be 3 by the time we go) is seriously one of the most crazy hyper kids I've ever encountered in my life! (And I've worked at a daycare and run a dayhome for many years). He has a really hard time sitting still, so we thought it would probably be best to cancel and put less stress on everyone! So now I'm trying to figure out which ressies to keep and which to cancel. I'm leaning towards making things simple as possible for ourselves and trying to dine at places in or very close to the parks or our resort. The more I think about it, the more I think it will be stressful and annoying to be taking buses to and from other resorts just for a meal. It might be something to save and look forward to when the kids are older and can manage to sit at a restaurant for 2 hours without me feeling like I want to hide under the table.

Here's what I had, my thoughts are in red on what to save/cancel:

21 - Arrival day
No ressies as I'm not sure when we'll be getting in, probably not til 7ish so we might just take boat across to DTD and get some EOS!
22- AK
8:10 am - Tusker House keep, love breakfast anyways and handy to get in early and be close to kilamanjaro
5:05 pm - Boma Might cancel as bit of a pain to have to travel to get there

23 - BB or TL Not sure which one to go to?
6:25 pm - Turf Club (we're staying at SSR) keep

24 - MK
8:05 am - Crystal Palace Keep, it will be magical to be in park early
5:35 pm - CRT MUST keep, I have a 7 yr old who thinks she's a princess!

25 - EP
8:05 am - Akershus Cancel
1:00 pm - Teppan Edo Cancel
6:25 pm - Biergarten Keep! (I'm German)

26 - DTD/resort day
11:30 am - TREX Keep
5:00 pm - Hoop De Doo Cancel. Pain to travel and I don't know how well my youngest will take it since there's so much noise and stimulation for a long period of time.

27 - MK
8:05 am - Crystal Palace Cancel since we'll have already been.
5:00 pm - Ohana Keep. Come on. It's Ohana!

28 - DHS
8:05 am - Hollywood and Vine Cancel? I heard this isn't very good compared to other character breakfasts. Thoughts?
1:40 pm - 50's Primetime Keep, I think. Food looks yummy!

29 - EP
11:30 am - Via Napoli Keep. LOVE pizza and Le Cellier will be worth 2 so it's prob the smarter thing to do.
4:40 pm - Le Cellier Cancel. :( Was looking forward to try the soup and the famous filet and risotto.

30 - MK
7:45 am - Chef Mickey's Cancel. Heard character interaction is rushed anyways.
12:50 pm - The Plaza Keep. If we have a credit for it, great. If not, we'll pay OOP since it's one of the cheaper TS anyways.
5:40 pm - Narcoossees Cancel. Pain to travel and a bit nervous about taking tired unruly kids to a signature.

So? What do you think? Agree? (This will be our first trip so I welcome the advice!)

It's getting closer and I'm starting to feel that panicky feeling once in awhile because I haven't done up our packing list, still need to get youngest one some new sandals, plus pick up extras like toys for in long lines, mist fans, adult ponchos, etc. Plus I have to get school shopping done soon before stores go crazy next month!

I think that your choices are well thought out for your family, your needs, likes and dislikes! Don't be disappointed, just think that there will be something new to try for next trip!

Paid off our balance a few days ago. We'll be at POR on Sept. 7th!

I have alot of catching up to do, wanted to quick respond to hwyprincess.

I live in central Florida and it has been hot here, but actually cooler and less humid than at friend's houses who live in PA and NC. It's been averaging about 94 degrees. There has been a thunderstorm almost every evening around dinner time that has rolled in and cooled things off a bit. On the days that the thunderstorms don't roll in, it's kept things warmer and we'd wake up to 80's and it would go up to a few degrees warmer, like to 96ish.

Yesterday I was sitting in the sun at my son's swim lessons and at 10am it was 85 degrees. There was a nice breeze and I didn't sweat at all.

However, last Thursday we went to the MK. It was 96 degrees, 12 noon, no breeze, and as soon as I stepped out of the car at the TTC, I started sweating. We cooled off with lunch at Cosmic Rays. Then a few hours later at the Main St. Bakery, sitting in the airconditioning with an icecream cookie sandwich!!

I know what I am getting into and luckily we love all of the indoor shows! I've just been trying to prep him. Since we will now be going with a child it will slow us down a lot (we are usually commando style) so I'm just hoping an afternoon nap or swimming in the afternoon will keep them both less cranky.

We will be staying at POP August 30th - September 5th. I'll see if our home depot has alien green and maybe I will run into some of you. I've seen about 5 others staying at POP the same week on various threads. I'll be the one with the melting husband (he uses the ac here on the fog ridden coast of CA when it gets above 75*). He has been in May before so hopefully he can hang this time too.

:welcome: to the thread! I have you added to the first post! :dance3:

Ok...I love July but the fact that is almost over is very exciting!!!!!!!! Disney is just around the corner!!!! I love reading about everyone ressies and changes! It is soooo much fun to eat in WDW :lovestruc The DDP is awesome

Thanks a lot guys for your input, you've made me feel better about cancelling a few ADR's. Now I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've been using touringplans to decide where we're going on which days. Then I looked at easy wdw and noticed that they added F! to the day we were doing DHS, which upped the crowd by a lot. Touring plans hadn't added the F! yet, so I decided to follow easy wdw's recommendation and go on the 28th. (We're only doing 1 day here). Now touring plans has updated their site and added F!, but they're saying DHS is recommended on another day and has a lower crowd level by 3 points. BUT, if I switch, I'll loose my Ohana ressie! So, in your experience, which is a more reliable site; Touring Plans or Easy WDW?

Mom2Cody, just want to let you know that one of the requirements of swimming the shark reef is that you can swim without stopping through. Alot of people try to stop to look longer at the fish and rays but they have lifeguards there watching making sure people keep moving along! The water is also really cold compared to the pool water

I remember doing Shark Reef before and the water being COLD! I told him if he wanted to try it we would but I am not sure if he will swim or just go look out the windows of the "boat"....

I'm having a tank top made for myself that will be easy to spot for all you DISers that will be there during Sept. 11-15th! Of course I will only have it on ONE day out of all those days....lol! I'll have to let you know which day and which park, so you can keep an eye out for me and say hi! It will be black with a lime green Mickey head on the front with hot pink lettering that says "MikellaCinderella" and "DISboards Addict"....thinking of putting "I DIS, Do You?" on the back as well ; ) :thumbsup2 :cool1:

:lmao:"I DIS, Do You?" I luv it. What a great idea!!! Can I borrow it? I'd like to put it on my beach bag in lime green letters.

awe! I would just hate for him to struggle, thats scary enough much less having lifeguards come over! I hope its a good experience for him!

Thanks! Certainly.....I didn't actually come up with that saying on my own....I've seen it on the boards here a few times. Wanted to use something that would be "familiar" if people saw it! ;)

Love it Amy!! I might have to put it on something too!! Hmmmmm what to do what to do

Holy cow, I am done with my sewing/stenciling projects! Unless I come up with more before we go... ;) I hope you guys are interested in some of these because I'm posting 'em! Who doesn't love posts with a whole lotta pictures, right?

This is what I'm wearing to MNSSHP. Took me about 4 hours and I kind of feel like I should do the back too but I am totally burnt out on it.

This is AMAZING! Did you create a stencil? LOVE it!

Great job on all of it!

We are thinking about doing Shark Reef. We've NEVER done the water parks, our kids were too small, so we decided to try it since they are ent coming this trip! :cool1: I was told the water is very cold, I think it will be refreshing in the september heat. I;m just gonna jump in 1,2,3 (at least thats my logic today) :rotfl:
I started yesterday shopping for some new clothes. Kohls and a few other stores are having back to school sales (yes we go back in about 3 1/2 weeks) so I got myself some nice sun dresses for dinners. 41 days. I cant contain the excitement:banana:

My ticker as of tommorow will no longer be in months but days. I just notice it. :dance3:

I have all my Mickey mail and I'm ready for this vacation. But it sort of feels more real since I got the rest of the Mickey mail on Monday.

Can anyone recommend a good place to find short sleeve Halloween shirts? The only ones that I can find are all long sleeved. I want to bring shirts for my kids to wear to the MNSSHP just in case they get to hot in their costumes.

Target ALWAYS has halloween shirts...Old navy too. its a little early. Usually they are out in September.

FYI...has anyone used TIW? I'm trying to see if its worth it. 20% off, but then an 18% gratuity, my DH thinks it may be a rip off....

You may can get them online at walmart or target. They may be longsleeve because of your location. We here in the south always have short sleeve options for halloween. Also etsy may have something cute you could order.

I would just have one of the cool DISigners make ya a print and then iron it on a tank top or plain tee.

TCP has some online now.
