September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

We are going to Six Flags Great America...and I have NO plan!!! We have been there before, but our girls have not.... I have no clue what kind of kids rides there are, etc! They have ride descriptions on their website, but its isn't really much...

I am sure we will have fun...but it is pretty weird to go in blind! Unlike how we go to Disney! :rolleyes1 Ha! :lmao:

That's a good idea. Probably pretty good warm up for the kids to get used to the rides. Might try that atnour Six Flags.

As you know I have been stalking the Desserts Fireworks Party at MK and today I see that they have opened up online reservations....but alas...
there are no openings on the 18th! already. dag nub it! so irritating!!! :headache:

Thanks for the heads up! We just snagged a spot on 9/29!
It was the only day we could fit it in, but I'm a little worried we won't be in the mood for dessert b/c we have an ADR at Boma for that evening. I was able to move it back to 4:30, so hopefully that will give us time to develop an appetite.

I also picked up a few things for our trip yesterday--our park bag and 2 rain jackets that zip up into their own pockets. Very small and light weight. :cool1:

Starting to get excited!!:yay:

I've just gotten caught up with the thread again. We've had company from California here for 8 days and in the middle of all that, my Dad had a heart attack. He's home now and feeling good, so thank God for that!

I was wondering for those of you who get Disigns and do shirts, where do you get your plain t-shirts? I have three designs from Shadowryter that are amazing and I can't wait to apply them, but want to get good quality shirts. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Glad you dad is ok.

2 months from right now, I will be at AKV!!!!!

We spent the day celebrating my DD's 9th bday. We took her out for breakfast, then went to the Georgia Aquarium, then the World of Coca Cola, and THEN, out for lunch at her favorite restaurant.

We got home a little bit ago and did presents and we are getting ready to have cake and ice cream in just a bit.

We always have a hard time scheduling a party during the summer, so we asked her what she would like to do for her birthday and that's what she picked. Besides the breakfast...we added that on ourselves.

We had a great time but I'm so tired I could pass out right now.

Happy b-day to your dd. My leaves Saturday for 2 weeks with my parents going on the diney dream then off to POFQ. They are only doin MK and just TL,BB and then they are going to do TL again. Then when she comes back we need to have her b-day party and then we leave. We come back and she starts k the next day.

My MIL's good friend made this outfit for dd to wear to MNSSHP, isn't she just cute. lol. ;)

Love it thanks for sharing.

So glad to hear that your dad is okay, that's scary! I use Gildan Tshirts for tiedyeing and transfers, but they're heavyweight, so they don't breathe super well. Surprisingly enough, the 100% cotton Faded Glory tanks and Tshirts give me equal results, without the heavy material. You can pick up Gildan at Michaels, AC Moore or Hobby Lobby, the Faded Glory you can get at any WalMart!:thumbsup2

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in having DISmeet one afternoon at Petals or by one of the pools. DBF and I will be at POP Sept 8th to 11th and plan on spending part of the afternoon at the pool thurs, fri, & sat. I would love to meet you guys!!!

That is a great idea. Sadly I will miss most of you.

We have changed our dates and resort! We were able to add a day on at the beginning and end. So now we are going 9/1-9/11 and staying at POFQ! We were really looking forward to the Contemporary but POFQ is great and I get 2 more days at Disney! It's worth the "sacrifice"!! LOL

Only 46 more days...so excited! It's my mom's, step-father's, and sister's first trip and we are celebrating DD9's birthday (turning 10)!!

That would be fun! We are having our "rest day" on the 11th. We could more than likely meet up with you if it were early enough. We plan on hitting DTD in the afternoon/evening.

I have your dates and resort changed on the first post. How exciting is it that you get to add two days to your vacation?! I know what you mean about being excited for a deluxe. We did the same as you did except from AKL for two nights to switching to Pop and now staying 10 days.

The extra days are worth it. I'm one that would rather stay at a value and stay longer. We are also there for 10 days. We did this last year and it was perfect. We weren't having to rush all the time. Pop really is a great resort. Dh was a no value type of guy until we stayed there. Know he is like why spend more?

Ok 40 days today!!! :banana::banana:

She IS cute!:thumbsup2 Love the skulls, my oldest DD would rock it in a heartbeat!:woohoo: I like the Black Veil Brides bracelet, too, it's a nice touch!:rotfl: I was hoping to get some Disney stuff done since I am off today, but we're going to take Alyssa's electric violin to be strung and to get started on school supply shopping. :scared1: Does anyone else actually dread the kids going back to school like I do?:sad2:

I wish we had! :rotfl:

We had some fun moments at Six Flags, but it wasn't as fun as we expected. My oldest daughter is 6 1/2...too big for the kiddie rides, but not really adventurous enough for the bigger rides. :confused3

It didn't help that our day started out a bit negative...my husband forgot he had his pocket knife so he ran back to the car to put it away. He came back though the security line and empties his pockets on the way through. He went to pick up his Chapstick and the woman started yelling at him that he couldn't have it because it was a LIQUID!!! Now we are very much follow the rules people...so it didn't help that the people in front of him went in with bottles of water and a pop from McDonald's! There are signs that say no liquids with the exception of baby items (milk, formula, etc.), so he didn't understand why people walked in with huge amounts of liquids...but they were giving him a hard time about his lip balm! :confused3

There were signs everywhere that said it was the cleanest park in the world...I'm assuming WDW wasn't on the list to vote for because there is NO WAY it is cleaner than Disney! And they load and unload the rides SO slowly! It was CRAZY!

They say they have a family atmosphere, however, the shows had a lot of adult humor. Nothing terribly crude, and it all went over my kids head...but it still shocked me a bit. I was most shocked though by how people were dressed! Girls were walking around with their shorts unbuttoned and unzipped! I saw this more than a few times! There were SO many shirts with inappropriate sayings as well...one that stuck in my mind a high school age boy... "My better half (with an arrow pointing down)" My 6 year old can of course read and was asking what that means. :scared1: Ugh... I don't really think of myself as prudish or anything I just think there are certain things that aren't appropriate in a "family setting"

I know it isn't Disney World, and it isn't fair to compare the two...but it just reaffirmed to me how much I love WDW! Ha! :earsgirl:

That is sooooo strange!! I'm a chapstick addict and have it in my pocket 24/7!! We were at Six Flags Great America last July and it wasn't a problem. They would've had to wrestle me for it if they wanted me to give it up though! :lmao: I also took spray sunscreen and the sunscreen face stick. I believe we also took a couple bottled waters as well. You must've had a security person who was having a bad day!!

Congrats to those adding days!!!

Right now, I am just hoping things turn around and I don't have to cancel ours!

Well ladies, we are cancelling our trip. With my mom's health, issues with our daughter's schooling, and (sad to say) past year's behaviour issues with our kids - we just are not going. :sad1:

So, L-Harper, if you could please - remove us from the September list. Thank you.

I hope everyone has a wonderful trip!!! :wizard:

AND, I will have a BUNCH of ADRs to cancel in the upcoming week or so. They include 3 different Ohana's, 2-1900 Park Avenue, a Garden Grill, CP breakfast, etc.

Yes, multiple reservations. Please - no flames. I've been stressed out enough these past few months. I *know* it's bad form but I was really really hoping for a minor miracle that we would still be able to make our kid-free trip. But I also had to be prepared to have 4 of us instead of 2...

In any case, I thought I would offer up the ADRs to those of you here before posting them on the September cancellation thread first. I will post them this week. Ohh, our original trip dates were Sept 19 - 28th. LOL - it just occured to me that everyone here is most likely already reading the Sept ADR cancellation thread anyways!

At least the good news is that my husband agreed to have our front living room bow window replaced since our trip is being cancelled. :)
It's still the original wood frame from 30 years ago. No screens! Ugh.
