September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

So...at 53 days out we decide to "modify" our ressie. My DH decided to start looking at the price of Passholder dining vs our tables of wonderland card. :confused3 Now he decides to be a DISer? really? I booked this in APRIL!
So there he is :surfweb: looking at menus and pricing stuff out and telling me about the benefits of Club level (hello McFly?) and comes to the epiphany  that its cheaper for us to Modify to Room Only. (I'm just glad we're going NO KIDS-I could care less dining plan or not)...with all day eating at the CL lounge and OOP dinner with ToW its cheaper :headache:
so we call and change over....:sick:now the fun starts....
The cast member tries to talk us into QS mealplan, we explain the $825.00 difference for the basic plan is too much food, we just want to eat dinner, and bfreakfast at CL lounge-we are light eaters and most likely will share a lunch in the parks...:rolleyes1. We'd rather just book room only period! then she tells us there might not be availabilty?? Grrr. So DH is asking-well what about the current room we have reserved?:rotfl2: she explains:No they need to cancel and rebook a new reservation, andthere is a chance that the minute it takes to rebook it our room may become taken its a BIG chance.....now I'm panicking:scared1: so he askes if she can check the availability now and if its available book it and then cancel (makes sense) ....long pause...CM replies hold please.... 2 very long minutes and loud music later, ok its available, I can make that switch. :cloud9:
Now they need to cancel the already booked and practically paid for trip and ask us for the 1 night deposit...so DH now freaks out:eek:-more $$$ Apparently they must cancel and refund your money (within 2 bank cycles) and collect a new deposit. So we put a nights stay on the good ol Mickey Visa, and we're told she's going to expedite our refund (I'm sure everyone gets that line, right?) so now I'm praying that the money gets refunded before our trip-so we can use that to pay for the balance at check in and then use the rest for our meals...Oh its been a day. But we're still going, just the two of us

We are going to Six Flags Great America...and I have NO plan!!! We have been there before, but our girls have not.... I have no clue what kind of kids rides there are, etc! They have ride descriptions on their website, but its isn't really much...

I am sure we will have fun...but it is pretty weird to go in blind! Unlike how we go to Disney! :rolleyes1 Ha! :lmao:

I grew up going there!!! (I am from Indiana). Don't fret!! I really don't think you need a plan....you can get to everything in one day (it's not like WDW)!

Hope you have a wonderful time!!

When we changed our from room only to package we had to do the same and it only took a couple days and money was back where it came from! Good Luck!

We leave tomorrow for CedarPoint Ohio......I don't have a game plan. So different from Disney. We are staying at Breakers so we can get EMH (lol) other than that we will pick up a map at the door and let the fun begin. I have NO idea what they food is like or whether we'll eat off site. This seems so funny considering I made my ADR's for Disney 180 days out. :lovestruc This trip is to get us over the hump until we get to our "magical place"

It just feels so weird to not plan anything doesn't it? I mean...I know what shirts and hair pretties my girls will be wearing each day, and it is 70 days away! Yet we leave for Great America in the morning...and I haven't even printed our tickets yet! Ha! My daughter got her ticket free from reading this school year. :teacher:

I am tempted to make a run to the mall across the street to see what the Disney outlet has! :lmao:

I haven't been on DIS to post (mostly lurking and researching for our trip) but I didn't know that this thread existed till today....But I found it, I'm Here!!!!

We are heading to WDW from 9/12-9/18 and staying at POR. It's my Mom, Dad, Hubby, DS4 (will be 5 a week after our trip) and DS1 and me.....We are super excited. This will be DS1's first trip, a birthday celebration for DS4, and Hubby's first trip since he was five (was only a day trip that he doesn't remember)

We have all of our ADR's done and are getting tickets for the MNSSHP, but haven't decided which night yet, probably Friday. I have been planning and researching everything to try and make the trip awesome for everyone!

I hope you have fun at CP... I work there and will make my recommendations. CP has resort food --EXPENSIVE! Well more expensive then McDonalds...LOL Breakers is the closest hotel to the entrance. They have Perkins Restaurant and Friday's. Also you can order Pizza from Big Daddy's Pizza. Pizza style is a personal preference , though I will say I get alot of people who love it! Also there is a All you can eat(drinks are included as well) breakfast buffet at Breakwater Cafe.. It's a little walk from your hotel but front desk will gladly take call you a shuttle. Food is pretty good and it's only $10.99 per adult and $6.99 for kids 10 and under. It's probably the cheapest meal you will get in the park, especially for a buffet. That is a bit of my knowledge. I have lived here for well I won't say how many yrs or that would be telling my age:rotfl: So if you have any additional questions, feel free to PM me....hope you have fun hanging on the Roller Coast!!!

:welcome: So excited for you all! :welcome:

When my kids were around those ages we did a big family trip with the grandparents-it was great.
MNSSHP is our favorite! We go up every year for it. Word of advice, weekends are super busy. all us locals make the trek there Friday and Saturday nights are jammed packed. If you can pick another nite the crowds may be tamer...just my input. What ADRs did you book?

It's been years and years since I've been to Cedar Point. (It was the year Magnum was completed.) I remember eating a cheeseburger on a stick. It was amazing! Do they still have them?

That is amazing! Congratulations! :flower3:

Thanks! :thumbsup2

10 weeks today before we hit the World! I'm working on getting myself organized; I have a travel binder that is steadily getting thicker full of info for WDW and the beach. About the only thing I dont have figured out is my room requests for Pop. I haven't quite figured out where to be on the resort. I'd rather face the leak, but I don't know if I love looking at construction that much!:rotfl: I guess I need to sit down and figure it out, so I can get my requests in. :surfweb:

Not sure about the cheeseburger on a stick....actually never heard of that. My favs are cheese on a stick and fresh cut fries...only offerred in 3 areas of the park. Smothered with cheese and chili...oh yum!!! Wow Magnum....girl u haven't been in wow 10+ yrs!!!! :scared1:

Ok, I officially changed our dates this morning!! We will now be at POP AFTER our cruise.....Sept. 11-15th. So, that means we'll be at MNSSHP on the 13th for sure!!! Excited, since we've never been there for MNSSHP!! :cool1: However, very nervous because I can't get ADR's for Ohana dinner or CRT at ALL that week. I just canceled all our old ADR's.....so if anyone is looking for Ohana dinner on Labor Day (Mon. 5th) at 650pm, get online and book NOW! LOL! Also canceled a CRT dinner ADR for Tues. 6th at 715pm! Goooooo get 'em!! Now I have to stalk the system and see if anyone cancels the week we need them. All of my others seem to be easy to get.....since it's just the two of us......just not Ohana and CRT.

LHarper- Can you please modify my dates on the list? Thanks!!! I guess I need to change my ticker too. lol Is there still a list for MNSSHP so I can see who all planned to go on Tuesday the 13th? :woohoo:

I was thinking we should go Tuesday but that is the first night I think, do you think it will be crowded then? I thought It might be to much with flying in on Monday.....but it would work out better the way our ADRs are set up.

This is what we look like for dining

Tues - B-Chef Mickey's:earsboy: , D-Whispering Canyon Cafe
Weds - Ohana
Thurs B - Hollywood & Vine , D-Via Napoli (hoping to stay for Illuminations this night :cool1:)
Friday - D-Cape May Cafe (hoping to hit Fantasmic :smickey:)
Saturday D-Kona Cafe (I'm torn about this one though....thinking maybe we should try somewhere else)

I didn't make an ADR for Monday night thinking it might be to much to expect the kids to sit for a table dinner since we were on the plane and in the bus most of the afternoon. Most of these Restaurants, with the exception of Ohana & Kona are new to us.
