September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Mom2Cody06: We went 2 years ago opening night and it wasnt crowded at all! It was earlier too, September 5(my sons actual bday)-before Nite of Joy was hosted at Magic Kingdom
I didnt mean to bust into your planning LOL, just as a Floridian I know we go up on the weekend for MNSSHP, as does everyone else here. If I had the choice I'd go during the week. :goodvibes but work calls....:surfweb:
We are going to Whispering Canyon our first night too!! I've never been but I heard its not to be missed (and yet somehow we missed it):confused3
We are going to restaurants this trip we've NEVER done. WE booked:
9/6 Whispering Canyon
9/7 Boma
9/8 Spirit of Aloha
9/9 Rose and Crown
9/10 'Ohana
9/11 Cape may Cafe Clam Bake
I hope we did good. LOL. I'm not sold on Boma, but we're going to Typhoon Lagoon that day and will most likely just wanna eat at the hotel and crash early.

2 months from right now, I will be at AKV!!!!!

We spent the day celebrating my DD's 9th bday. We took her out for breakfast, then went to the Georgia Aquarium, then the World of Coca Cola, and THEN, out for lunch at her favorite restaurant.

We got home a little bit ago and did presents and we are getting ready to have cake and ice cream in just a bit.

We always have a hard time scheduling a party during the summer, so we asked her what she would like to do for her birthday and that's what she picked. Besides the breakfast...we added that on ourselves.

We had a great time but I'm so tired I could pass out right now.

Happy Birthday to your DD! :thumbsup2

We have an Ohana dinner for Weds, but I made that a while ago and it was the only time I could get....hopefully something opens up for you...we plan to hit MNSSHP and I am trying to talk my Mom into Tuesday night....She is getting the tickets for our whole family

Yeah, I stayed up all night long at the 180 day mark to get my ADR's originally! LOL! I can't believe I changed the dates after all that planning! Oh well, time to RE-plan....and obsess all over again! :rotfl: Yay for Tuesday MNSSHP!!

I had to catch up on the thead. I went to walmart today and got some more things for our trip. I bought 2 of those mister fans like the sell in Disney for 7.00 each for the girls. I think the ones in the parks are around 17.00 or so.

Went to baby gap and bought Reese 5 new outfits. Not sure why but I guess she needs some new clothes for vacation. She has quite a bit of stuff already. But I figure than I can be pickey over what I bring. Her wardrobe is pretty much 99% gap. My older dd is into Justice. I use to by gymboree all the time and match the girls. But Riley is getting a little more pickey now. I'm glad that most of my pre-shopping is done.

Six weeks from today we will be leaving. :thumbsup2

Happy birthday to your DD, MissLiz! Amy, I hope you're able to get your ressies changed. Keep stalking, it seems like they're opening restaurants one at a time for new reservations, so hopefully you'll get exactly what you need!

We leave tomorrow for CedarPoint Ohio......I don't have a game plan. So different from Disney. We are staying at Breakers so we can get EMH (lol) other than that we will pick up a map at the door and let the fun begin. I have NO idea what they food is like or whether we'll eat off site. This seems so funny considering I made my ADR's for Disney 180 days out. :lovestruc This trip is to get us over the hump until we get to our "magical place"

I think you'll have a great time at Cedar Point. I live in Ohio and used to love to go up there! Was hoping to get up this year, but the summer has been CRAZY! The food is okay. I wouldn't bother going off site to eat as it will take quite a bit of time. I think you'll like the Breakers. I've never been there, but it looks good from the outside!! Have a great time!

I've just gotten caught up with the thread again. We've had company from California here for 8 days and in the middle of all that, my Dad had a heart attack. He's home now and feeling good, so thank God for that!

I was wondering for those of you who get Disigns and do shirts, where do you get your plain t-shirts? I have three designs from Shadowryter that are amazing and I can't wait to apply them, but want to get good quality shirts. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

You should be coming to Cedar Point to see me:)

I wish we had! :rotfl:

We had some fun moments at Six Flags, but it wasn't as fun as we expected. My oldest daughter is 6 1/2...too big for the kiddie rides, but not really adventurous enough for the bigger rides. :confused3

It didn't help that our day started out a bit negative...my husband forgot he had his pocket knife so he ran back to the car to put it away. He came back though the security line and empties his pockets on the way through. He went to pick up his Chapstick and the woman started yelling at him that he couldn't have it because it was a LIQUID!!! Now we are very much follow the rules people...so it didn't help that the people in front of him went in with bottles of water and a pop from McDonald's! There are signs that say no liquids with the exception of baby items (milk, formula, etc.), so he didn't understand why people walked in with huge amounts of liquids...but they were giving him a hard time about his lip balm! :confused3

There were signs everywhere that said it was the cleanest park in the world...I'm assuming WDW wasn't on the list to vote for because there is NO WAY it is cleaner than Disney! And they load and unload the rides SO slowly! It was CRAZY!

They say they have a family atmosphere, however, the shows had a lot of adult humor. Nothing terribly crude, and it all went over my kids head...but it still shocked me a bit. I was most shocked though by how people were dressed! Girls were walking around with their shorts unbuttoned and unzipped! I saw this more than a few times! There were SO many shirts with inappropriate sayings as well...one that stuck in my mind a high school age boy... "My better half (with an arrow pointing down)" My 6 year old can of course read and was asking what that means. :scared1: Ugh... I don't really think of myself as prudish or anything I just think there are certain things that aren't appropriate in a "family setting"

I know it isn't Disney World, and it isn't fair to compare the two...but it just reaffirmed to me how much I love WDW! Ha! :earsgirl:

First time checking in on this thread can't wait until my trip Sept 19-25 2011. We havent told our boys that we are going hopeing to keep it a secret until we get there. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Since when has chapstick been considered a liquid?? wow your poor husband. Heck I would have looked around to see if there was some hidden camera or something especially since they let all those other people through with their real liquids.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We have a local park Holiday World and they are very family oriented....and clean...actually I thought we were voted cleanest park? weird that Six Flags is saying that. Our park makes sure everyone is dressed appropriately before entering the park, I have seen them turn people away for how they are dressed and heard some of the nasty things people have said because of it. But I definitely appreciate all they do.

Yes that sounds inappropriate!! I will say this though...some people come in CP looking ok and then they strip:scared1: As far as the cleanest park---could have been amoung amusement parks which is a whole other breed. For example---CP is #1 Park --mostly because best Roller Coaster Park!----Nothing can compare---and is very clean park. Disney of course is the best all around Theme Park!!! No argument there but they can't compete for thrill rides. No matter if I have lived here in CP -town for all my life----DISNEY is still my heart and will always vote in #1 for me!!!!

Yeah I was thinking that as well about Holiday World.... I used to love that park (but it isnt as SIZE friendly as WDW and I had some issues last time I was there)

I know! It was REALLY weird! I looked it up to see TSA regulations, and since chapstick is small you are allowed to have it! :confused3

I went to Holiday World as a child, and LOVED it! It is JUST far enough that we couldn't do it in just a day...but I think it would be worth it to take a long weekend and head down there. I remember loving it!

I wish I had taken a picture of the signs now...maybe it was the cleanest of all of the Six Flags parks??? Who knows!

I know people like to express themselves with their clothing choices, and I am not trying to say anyone is right or wrong...but...who doesn't zip their shorts??? :confused3 :rotfl:

Oh yes thrill seekers definitely love Cedar Point, and for good reason. :thumbsup2

Thanks for listening to me gripe everyone... :lmao: Now back to your regularly scheduled DISing ;)
