September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Anyone else love these commercials while watching tv at Disney?
http://www.appliancedirect.com/

My boyfriend and I think they are hilarious-partly because we both have degrees in broadcasting and he currently works producing local tv commercials!

We will be descending into Orlando at this time in 25 days! :goodvibes

12 days from right now, we will be making our final approach into MCO :yay:

To all those that will be flying SW for the first time...you will like it...I will ONLY fly SW now, I think they are a great airline...plus no fees on the first 2 pieces of luggage. I've had really great service with them.

Packing his transitioned from "throw stuff in here or there first " to packing the little girls stuff (they have more disney specific outfits than the big kids) and I realized, MAN THIS IS GOING TO BE A LOT OF STUFF :scared1: And that's with packing less because I will have a washer and dryer there so I am not packing extra outfits.

We leave in 21 days for CBR
:cool1: WooHoo! You *must* come back here when you get back and tell us about it--I can't wait to hear!

We flew Airtran in 2009 and didn't do this either. This year we booked through Disney so I wasn't made aware of the option to do this. This is the first I heard of it and I just went on and checked. Our flights do not have ANY two seats together. There are several rows where the middle is reserved and the window and aisle are available--who picks to sit in the middle seat?! I am so upset because I do NOT want to have a lap toddler by myself and I'm sure my husband doesn't either. I am really upset.

I'm sorry. 2 other posters had the same suggestions I would have: either book two seats across the aisle from each other so you can pass the baby back and forth (my DH and I have done that before) or book the window and aisle in the same row, and hope the person in the middle will switch with one of you (either right away or after you've passed the baby back and forth over them a couple of times!) :lmao:

Travel agents always take longer. We didn't go through a travel agent this time, but we haven't gotten our stuff yet either. I haven't even gotten magical express info yet. I think last time we got it at 35 days out and that is right around the corner.

We still haven't gotten ours yet, either. Congrats to everyone who has! I am jealous! :rotfl:

Hey all......well since Norma and Robin haven't come to announce it...I will
Our group got ----wait for it, wait for it
Mickey Mail!!!!!!

I got both the resort stuff and the magical express stuff!! Yeah me!!

As for the airlines thing---just have your hubby seat you and say---man honey I hope you don't vomit like last time, especially since this time your pregnant. :rotfl: They are bound to move. It can work for kids too!!

Well off to read a bit O'dis. Then bed!!! Nighty night!

LOL! That might work! :rotfl2:

I wanted to share my LABOR of love:

(Please tilt your head because I'm not smart enough to figure out how to turn this dang picture)

This countdown calendar is in full swing now!

Awesome job!

hey september friends...just checking my ticker :cool1: I may be out of commission for a few days...it looks like this hurricane irene chick aint playing games and wants to come visit mickey this month too! I may be without power wed/thurs depending on when she hits...
hopefully it'll be a quick one and I can get on with my life. We have to take a few dollars out of vacation savings to prepare for the storm. its always something. As soon as my hubby gets home we are off to wal mart and home depot. its gonna be a zoo. keep us in ur prayers. I hope we dont lose power too long its so darn hot and humid. Oh trapped in the house with no power with my hubby and kids - this is going to be a loooooong week....

It always happens the first week of school-which was awesome. Both my kids had a great day-and I had a fabulous time with my own students. we are all looking forward to this year.

XXOO talk to you all soon!

Saying a prayer for your safety and everyone in the line of the storm. :flower3:

I had the option to choose my seats when I booked, but we decided at that time not to pick seats. I just did it though. You go to "My Account", log in, then on the left click "my bookings, then click "view" on your itinerary. Once you are into your itinerary I'd make sure everything is correct there. On the right hand side you can click on "change seats". That is where you have the option to pick the seats you want if you haven't done so already. Regular seats are $6 to pick and priority seats are $13 to pick. We decided that it was worth the money for piece of mind. I don't want us to get split up and I don't want to have to rely on others to move when they may not want to. I already feel less stressed!!!

I'm glad you decided to pay for your seats. You never know how things will turn out and this way you have peace of mind. Good for you!:thumbsup2

All may not be lost. Be sure to check in at the stroke of the 24hour period and see what's available. Any seats that were not purchased will be released and up for grabs. You still may get seats together at that time. DH and I fly Airtran almost exclusively and we have never paid for seats or had to sit apart. This year we opted to pay for seats since our adult son is coming and I thought three might be harder to come by. Good luck! I really hope you get seats together!:goodvibes

Okay, I'm starting to get anxious. I got the DME's but I want the rest of the Mickey Mail. Every day I look in the mail box and outside my door....and nothing. :sad2:
so, now I'm back to packing and reading the DIS.:surfweb:
I'm so excited for everyone who will be leaving soon, and excited for those of us who are less than a month. It's wonderful to see days instead of months in the ticker.
My DH use to think I was nuts for getting ready so early, but he finally understands why I do it. I don't want to be stressed out last minute trying to pull everything together for our trip. Going to Mickey's place is different than any other vacation. He's starting to throw things in his suitcase. I'm lucky I have a hubby who loves Disney as much as I do.

I think I got my second packet of Micky Mail at 25 days out if I remember correctly. Should be any day now for you!:yay:

I love everyone's responses to what you'll do first at Disney. I only gave my MK, so here's my other park "first to do" attractions:

HS: Toy Story Mania: get fast pass then get in line to ride it.

Epcot: get fast pass for Soarin' and then ride it.

AK: Grab fast pass for EE, maybe ride it at that time too, then over to ride the safari.

Those autograph books are adorable, L. Harper!! Great job! And I love the countdown calendar. Wish I had made one!

Only 16 more days until we board the plane...:rainbow:

 It will be ok!

I think that those middle seats aren't really reserved by someone yet, I do believe Airtran does hold some seats back and these may be them. I would choose the window and aisle seat in the same row and if someone does happen to sit in that middle seat, you can ask them if they would prefer to sit in the aisle or window and I'll bet they'd say yes and then you and your Dh could have the other two seats next to each other (one of them being the middle seat...because nobody wants those middle seats ;) LOL)

I really think you'll be fine :wizard:

Thanks guys. I did end up buying 2 seats each way, an aisle and a window in the same row. There weren't any separated by the aisle next to each other either. I would assume that whoever is sitting in the middle seat (again, who buys that one?!) would move over one seat so that DH and I can sit next to each other w/ DD. Thank you all for your input!

After all of those shenanagan last night, DH and I played our Wonderful World of Disney Trivia game and watched the Incredibles and Phineas & Ferb so that helped lift my spirits again!

Hope everyone is ok! We have Irene expected to make landfall here in NC in a few days, and we just had earthquake tremors today! Really??

I was in the car at the time, so I didn't notice any shaking, but my mom at work and others in the area (like DH's work) felt it!

I wish we would have known these sorts of things before we booked our flights. I didn't research enough. With how much we will end up paying for these AitTran tickets we should have just gone with the SW! Between the baggage fees and the seat fees, these were not cheap tickets. Plus we had already paid a bit more to go out of the very small airport so we didn't have to deal with all the craziness of flying out of a big airport. :confused3

I love that everyone is posting what they're going to do first, and now in each park, even better!

Magic Kingdom- I actually am sitting here trying to wrap my head around being really in the Magic Kingdom and I can't. I get emotional! I know that I'm going to need tissues as we walk in and I see the castle down Main Street. We plan on hitting MK on our arrival night. Before our ADR at Chef Mickey's we will just go to the Castle and on Main Street. We'll buy the boys' Mickey ears. If we have time, we'll head into Tomorrowland and ride Buzz first.

Animal Kingdom-
We have an early ADR at Tusker House. Once we're done there, we will head straight for the safari. That is actually the attraction I'm most excited for.

Hollywood Studios- No doubt, Toy Story Mania will be first. I'm going to head to get in the queue and DH will go get a Fastpass.

Epcot-
We are doing Epcot over two days with doing World Showcase the first day and Future World the second day. So, we'll probably be doing some ride in WS first... maybe Kim Possible? As for FW, I'd say Test Track since DS4 is super excited about that one.

Here is todays countdown drawing....

Very neat! Thanks for sharing!!!!

Your enthusiasm for your first time in MK made ME get teary eyed!!!! It really is SO magical! :wizard:

It was weird here....the whole building shook..it only lasted for about 20 seconds, but it sure felt like a lot longer..

Our plans of what to do first:

Arrival Day Just hang out at CSR...swimming and checking out the waterslide!

Animal Kingdom Safari

Magic Kingdom We like to go right to Fantasyland...The Tea Cups are our traditional first ride there.

Epcot Soarin'

Hollywood Studios FP Toy Story of course, and hopefully get right in line.

it was felt all the way up here in New Brunswick, Canada - I didn't feel it personally but there were offices evacuated in the capital (Fredericton)...

All the nickel and diming is why I only fly jetblue. :thumbsup2 first bag free and no charge to pick our seats. They always have cheap fares too.
