My week has been short work wise, I left at 3 on Monday and took yesterday off. My husband took me to the Medevil Manor in Boston Monday night....we had a great time! I took yesterday off, just because I could! We could be a little busier, but since I was out yesterday...I'll be playing catch up today!

is that like a medevil fair thing??? oh if it is that would be so much fun we go to the Geneva Medevil fair every year. its a blast to go to and see everyone in costume.

playing hookie I see I wish I could :confused3. I bought myself an amthethist(sp) ring with 3small diamonds on the sides its like a tear drop shape its great looking. I took my other amthethist(sp) in to have it fixed and it was a much to buy a new one then to fix this one so I bought a new one with a lifetime warranty anything happens to it it will be replaced or fixed.:woohoo: :woohoo:

No, it's not King Arthur's Faire, this is a dinner theater....where there is a king, serving wenches, ministral, jesters..etc. They serve you a six course meal, that you have to eat with your hands. It's a great show, but it's for adults only. The content is just definately "R" rated. It's a riot!

Man I wish we had something like that here it would be awesome to do that.

Okay I am hungry so tell me what they served please:tongue:

Interested in going at the beginning of next year? Yeah! Can afford to? No :(

Thank you for the compliments on my lovely ribbons- even if the second place rossette is kinda poo brown. No- it IS poo brown. Like, 'Here- you didn't get first- here's your poop brown rossette'.

;)

Oooh, that sounds like a FUN DINNER! We have the Excalibur on the strip here that has a medieval dinner- the food is good and it's fun to watch the going ons.

We went to the Ren Fair this weekend- will be joining a group of local SCAdians (uh, medieval re-enactment) with my little sisters this weekend. I've done it before- uh, almost 12 years ago, in Germany- they haven't. Just bought this dress off of Ebay- mind you, JUST THE BODICE at the Ren Fair would have cost me $150- so I figure this is a steal...

They start you off with thin crust pizza with green peppers on it...can't remember what they called it, then they bring faux dragon soup (tomato vegetable soup) and bread. Then you get ribs, shrimp, and mussels, then salad and final course is a half of a chicken and steamed veggies. They also give you 8 tokens for pitchers of either lite beer, dark beer, wine or lemonade.

It's really good!

wic0721, I love that period of history. If I had my druthers and I "HAD" to be female (men had it better then, as always) I would chose to be Anne of Cleves as she had it the best of all Henry's wives. With my luck I would not have gotten off as "easily" as Anne Boelyn and would have ended up doing the scut work of Catherine Howard and ended up by marrying badly toward the end of my long and scary life. Better to retired to a nunnery because of excessive ugliness than to have had to bed dear Henry, me thinks.

An 'R' rating is much better than the real deal would have been. It was indeed a dirty part of history. The good news is that the poorest of the poor in this century still live a lot better than the Kings and Queens of that period. :wizard:

Slightly Goofy

You've got a good point there goofy!

It really is a fun dinner theater to go to. We've been a couple times now, with different people, and they've all loved it.....I'm guessing we'll be going again soon.

wic0721, as much as you love that you should consider getting a part time job there for the free costumes and fun playing the characters. Just a thought. I wanna be a wench!!

You know, if I had known about it when I went to college in Boston...I might have done it! You have to be able to sing though, and I've definately got that one covered. And back in my college days, I definately had the body for one of the serving wenches costumes! :rotfl2: Now I've got a mommy body, actually it's a estogen pills side effect fluffy body! :lmao: :scared:

wic0721, if you had read your history books instead of passing notes back and forth to your many boyfriends you would know that women of that period were considered better looking if they were on the fluffy side. It was a sign of affluence since only wealthy folks could afford to eat well AND that men found you attractive enough to give you food.

I am extremely good looking, by THOSE standards!!

What have you got to lose?? Go for it and have a blast doing it too!~

Well seeing that it's almost a 2 hour commute for me to get there, and my husband works noon to midnight, I don't see me becoming a serving wench in public anytime soon! I could become my husbands serving wench though....hhhmmmmm there's a thought! :rotfl: Actually HE should become MY servant!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Actually, the Mommy Bodies tend to look better in that garb anyways. After all, typically, Moms have bigger ****s then they did pre-kids and they are then enhanced by the bodice and it also cinches in the waist...

See- go for it! LOL!+

Yeah this is true! But with a 4 hour commute total to get to and from there....not worth it! But it would be cool!

That's why I'm starting back up with the Society for Creative Anachronisms this weekend- I posted the dress a page or two back. It's awesome to wear the clothes, the food can be delish, and it's fun to just pretend you are in a more courtly age. Of course- not always true, but still!

Hey I went back 5-6 pages, I couldn't find any dress pictures! Post it again...please! :thumbsup2

Okay gals I got news I went home for lunch today and to my surprise was my AP waiting for me on the porch YEAH!!! but the down side is that they over charged me to much money for it so now I have to call and talk some sense into someone. :lmao: :lmao:

its to bad that we all live so far away from each other it would be a hoot to have all of us go to the show together.

There ya go- hopefully, the link works!

Creative Anachronisms?? That is me to a tee!! I never fit in any old where. I am from another time. Just not sure if it is the past or the future. :dance3:

wic0721, heck if you are going to insert realism in this discussion it just ruins it all. Just because your not being around might lead your kids into a life of crime and your hubby might take up with the floozy down the street it not really a reason to give up YOUR dream.

BTW, all women are serving wenches whether they recognize the fact or not. At least in the old days you did not have to clean up after a meal cause the dogs did that.

Poohbear67, good luck arguing the price down on your AP. Maybe they sent you the wrong one or you did not get the latest price increase (was just before our Sept trip)?

I am trying to get through to my cellphone company for the promised FREE update. Planting Astilbes in the meantime. Looking forward to the flames of red next summer, if I survive this winter!!
