September 2, 2012 - Magic - NYC to Canada

Who's up for some for Martini tasting while on board?? I think Sue and I going to sign up for this!! Sounds like fun!

We are also thinking of doing this one and some of the other tastings as well ! Have no experience with Martini's so far - so we are quite excited...

We've never had one either... Looking forward to it!!

We're not really into martinis, but thinking about doing the wine and/or beer tastings! Have any of you done those before?

Hi everyone! We've done the martini tasting, the tequila tasting, the wine tasting, a champagne tasting, and a mixology class (no, not on all the same cruise, lol!)

I don't think I'd do the wine (too dumbed down for me) or mixology again (who wants to really mix your own drink on vacation?). I would have to say the tequila tasting was my favorite, but I also enjoyed the champagne and martini tastings.

The martini tasting ... I love a good dirty martini. No one else in my group did, so they all piled up their dirty martinis in front of me. As a result, someone stole my Tobleronetini (yes, as in the Swiss Chocolate Toblerone), so I didn't get to try that.

I would like to do a Cognac Tasting this cruise, I think.

FE list will be open until Aug 1 - to make room for all the recently booked travelers.

If you have a room change or are currently a GTY status and learn of your stateroom at the terminal, please leave a note on my stateroom door (room 6120).

I'm not familiar with the expression "dumbed down", does it mean the wines were not good? Or the presentation?

Sorry about that. :headache:

It just means that the class was very much for beginners, although there were quite a few connoisseurs in the tasting. They "dumbed down" the class to accommodate the lowest level of experience of wine drinkers. I'm no connoisseur, but I can easily tell the difference between a Pinot Grigio and a Reisling, which they spent a fair amount of time on. I'm just saying, I guess, that it was much too basic for anyone but the most casual wine drinker, or someone who wants to start.

Thanks for teaching me how to do multiple quotes as I would hate to spam the thread after being off for 4 days after my 2nd outpatient back surgery in 8 days and a major toe cut... :rotfl2:

Christa, You said you wanted Sorcerer Mickey ears for your door, try this:

If you are looking for the ears to go over the number on your stateroom door check out this thread for some awesome creations:

:)Karen

Karen, thank you for the great link! I can't wait to go to Staples to buy magnetic paper to print my ears out finally! This will be # 7, 8, and 9 cruises and the 1st 6 I have drooled over Sorcerer Mickey's hat and ears. :rotfl:

Hi everyone! We've done the martini tasting, the tequila tasting, the wine tasting, a champagne tasting, and a mixology class (no, not on all the same cruise, lol!).

Though I bar tended in college, I still would love to do a tasting or class. However, due to the meds I'm on for my back and my lungs, if I drink I will stop breathing. So I won't be doing that! :lmao:

Thanks so much for posting the link! I'm Karen too, by the way! :goodvibes

Hi Karen #2 you wouldn't be on deck 7 and/or as well traveling with your mom like me and my neighbor Karen? ;)

I'm going to audit the list after the 1st to see how many moms/daughters there are and then propose a lunch on a sea day. Sound like fun? :cool1:

Greetings All.....Haven't been on here for a while, busy planning, and I've been viewing/posting a little on the Facebook page. Even though we aren't going to participate in the FE, I would love to join in on either the Martini or Tequila tasting. :goodvibes
We're patiently waiting for that VGT room assignment. I just hope we're not one of the ones who has to wait to board to get ours. For anyone who has done VGT before and not been pre-assigned a stateroom, do they still send out luggage tags, etc....? I would imagine that the bar code on the luggage tag would direct them as to where to deliver the luggage...that just makes me nervous.:rolleyes2

Thank you for explaining! Sounds like it may be a bit basic for me as well (not much, though!) but I think I want to do it all the same. I can't really stomach most of the "heavier" drinks, so as long as I want to enjoy myself sitting around and drinking lots of glasses of alcohol, it will need to be wine or beer! :lmao:

(Did a martini tasting on my first cruise, it was about 2 pm and I was absolutely wasted all day ...)

I still haven't received my cruise docs, by the way .. waiting not so patiently!

You should have completed online check-in and printed out your signature page. When the docs come they will contain your luggage tags and your information booklet. At check-in at the port you just need the signature page, your passport and/or original birth certificate and the credit card you listed for charging on your online checkin.
These docs should come after the 30 day mark.

So far, I've only received our 8/25 cruise docs, Annika. Still waiting on our 9/2 ones. :)

You're right, Jodie - I posted this on the wrong thread! This b2b stuff is so confusing :)
I haven't received either yet, though ...

Yes, thank you for the info - I have done the online checkin and printed it out, and I know the booklet is not absolutely necessary ... I'm only concerned about possibly not receiving the luggage tags. (Even though I know that there is a way around that problem too ... I guess I just worry too much! :) )

Christa, sorry to disappoint you but I'm not traveling with my Mom but with a friend, Patty. In fact, I'm probably more your mother's age than yours I never got the chance to cruise with my mom but have cruised with one of my daughters and she, my son-in-law and their new baby will be cruising the Dream with me for 4 days in August next year. Now if I can just get the other one and her family on one of the ships I'll be happy. We all did two week-long vacations to WDW last year finally and had a great time. So the cruise ships could be in their future too. It would help if DCL would sail out of Puerto Rico where my older daughter and her family live. Since they're using San Juan as a port of call soon maybe that will happen.;)

So I'm on the Karen list but not the cruising with your mothers list.:rotfl2:

Well, I'm sure you and Patty will have a Magical time and then you have more to look forward to next year. Funny, thing is I am collecting Karen's on all 3 cruises, lol! :lmao:

P.S. Because I have 3 cruises and 6 pages (3 DIS and 3 Corresponding FB) making my head spin, please forgive the following... You are my neighbor though right, lol?

P.S.S. my dad went on this huge trip I planned with me and my mom last year to WDW/Dream/WDW celebrating his 1st visit and 1st family vacation in 25 years; my mom's 65th bday; and my 20 years of being a Cancer Survivor. He has since told me he went down 63 and came back 33... Age is just a number ;)
