My dad is that way. He hates dressing up. Jason & I don't mind it one bit. It's fun to get all dressed up once in awhile.

I'm wishing for the cruise too. Do you think if we all wish hard enough that we can go forward in time and the cruise will be this Sunday? :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Guess not... :furious: Oops, thought too hard.

I wish my office had a window. I can only see a small sliver of overcast skies through the window on the door.

I am STILL in this traffic jam in the PA mountains watching the trees go by very slowly.

We like getting dressed up. I only bring a couple of pairs of jeans on the cruise just incase of chilly nights. We wear jeans every day so dressing up is a treat for us.

Sorry, your office doesn't have a window. Mine does :rotfl: :rotfl: a big one!

I just got finished writing all of the plans for this cruise into my "disney notebook". I'm waiting for my palm pilot to charge so I can start putting it all in. We have a lot planned for this cruise!! I am assuming that the mini-navigator helps us keep up with DIS stuff? I hope so, I'm gonna need all the help I can get.

Scott H and BobandLee- Now when my phone rings you hear "Cheeseburger in Paradise"! Can I be a parrothead now? Even though I don't have RadioMargaritaville?

I'm going in a few minutes to see my "wax mickey". A couple of years ago a freind gave me some loose stones. Natural blue topaz her niece sent her from Sri Lanka. Lamar is having them set in gold for me, for this trip. I get to go see the wax mold. It is a mickey head! I'm just a little excited. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

You do the same thing I do. :rotfl2: My calendar on mine for next month has all these little dots all over the place. And yet, strangely this month is blank for some reason. :confused3

I know! Mine only has disney vacation stuff on it and peoples anniversary's and b'days! :rotfl2: The only other things my "little dots" represent are bills. I make the little dots black for the bills :lmao:

We have the windows down smelling the trees as it is a breezy 78 degrees in the BEAUTIFUL state of PA! :cloud9:

We are having a lovely day here in PA today, aren't we. Too bad I can only watch it from the big office windows. (Still have 1 1/2 hours to work!) Hope you aren't stuck in traffic too long!

I would be excited too! What a great idea for buying loose stones! I wanted a diamond mickey head engagement ring but looked all over and couldn't find one. You must have a great jeweler, all of these around my hometown wouldn't attempt a mickey ring for me. Inexperience, I guess- or maybe they thought I was crazy  Congrats! Will it be ready by the cruise so we can all oooh and aaah over it? :bounce:

I only have a few things entered in for this month, appointments, etc. Oh well...

:wave2: Catherine!!!! I'm stuck at work too for another 1 1/2.

We were stuck on I80 for an hour (construction cone, PA's state tree :lmao: )

It is absolutely gorgeous here today! I feel fall coming on already! I love PA in the fall when the leaves change and the scenery explodes with fall colors. Its picturesque. :cloud9: I hope you get to enjoy some of what this great day has to offer. We have now stopped our truck so we can take our daily walk here. What better place? :goodvibes

It will be my anniversary present. Yes it will be ready by the cruise.
I wonder why Disney doesn't do fine jewelry? the topaz is only semi- precious and I don't see much of that either. Just a little on the ship. WDW used to have a shop but it is gone now.
I don't wear alot of jewelry, but the sentimental value is there and it is Mickey! :goodvibes
We are fortunate to have two custom jewelers in our small town. If you bring them a picture they will make it. One only does precious stones and the other will do anything.

That's cool! Or, KEWL, I should say! I can't wait to see it!

Well, gotta go walk so I can PIG OUT on the cruise! :woohoo:

I'll check in after my driving shift! :moped:

My PDA looks like a rainbow and I'm retired. What is wrong with this picture? :confused3 I can't move without it. I think it is my age. I can't remember anything. That's how I remembered we are going to the jeweler today :rotfl2:

Yeah..no semi formal nights.

Hope no jacket is needed for Palo, shouldn't be anyway unless they change the rules before we get there.

Does this mean I leave one of the TWO tuxedo sets at home?!?!? And what of my FULL Anakin Jedi outfits??? I can't bring those either... oh yeah... I'm not on a Halloween sailing anymore... then what of my prate costumes??? Can I bring those? And my inflatible bumper boat with the 12 HP motor and water cannon? Can I bring that? AND the double stroller... 2 car seats and cargo bag.... 2 huge rolling suitcases... steamer trunk and portable microwave? Can I bring that too... so sez my spouse who thinks she can bring what-ever she wants to - so long as I am still able to shuttle back and forth with her "gear".

;) She doesn't read these .... as she thinks I'm a nut (well... she did marry me...so it takes one to know one I say...) .... and she'll likely never know what I wrote here - like - who's gonna tell her...

:wave2: Emily

How about if we just wish it was one month from now? That would still leave us with about a week to get ready!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Nope, that didn't work either.

I've never seen anything like this with my own eyes - but some day I'd like to walk a path that looks as timeless as this....
199216584-1a-framed.jpg

That's called PEAKING ... right? I'm a Califonrina boy who has never really lived through one year of seasonal change.... it's perpetual late summer here - or so that's what some folks tell me! My spouse on the other hand - she grew up in a one signal light town in PA called Irwin. Don't blink on the turnpike otherwise you might miss it! She recently commented that they used to do all nite bowling as the monthly thrill. ANd she was born in Buffalo.... whule I was born and raised in L.A.. .... or as her Mom once said about me... he's a City Slicker.... and she sort of meant it. Was that a bad thing?

And with this entry I achieve my 300th contribution to our thread!

300th.jpg

I know - it's not much compared to Scott... IE ... no one noticed except ME... but just the same... it's still a modest tribute to my insanity here!

OK.... gotta get back to preparing and packing to get outta Dodge tomorrow! So many things to do - however, there is sufficient time. Everything is more or less firmly in control!

TTFN! :thumbsup2

:teacher: :teacher: Math Alert :teacher: :teacher:

I was playing around with the recommended tips that DCL lists for the 3/4/7 day cruises to calculate the 11 day tips. (And I checked my math because it worked out to $120 per person and I rebooked this cruise under a special rate that required tips to be prepaid and DCL charged us $120 per person.)

Thought I would pass the $$ amounts along to anyone like us who likes to pay cash and get them prepared ahead of time. (Just so you don't think I'm  , we have a second cabin that the tips are not pre-paid.)

For the whole 11 night cruise, it breaks out like this (per person):
Dining Room Server: $40.50
Assistant Server: $29.50
Head Server: $10.25
Stateroom Host: $39.75

(Sorry if someone else already calculated these out but I've been trying to catch up on this thread for quite some time!)

I love jewelry. What girl doesn't? DH just bought me a new sapphire ring a couple of months ago. It's a rare sapphire and I just love it. He spoils me so.

Catherine, I look at it this way. If we can't fast forward time, then we'll just have to deal with it. Besides, next week the month will be half over and next Thursday is the one month mark and that month will definately fly by. Although I seem to remember that there is someone who is cruising before the rest of us. Who could that be? :confused3 :lmao: You need to see if they'll just let you leave your luggage at the port when you disembark the Magic, they won't even have to hold it 24 hours and it would save you the hassle of having to lug luggage around.

Good thing to know. I can't remember if our tips were prepaid or not. I don't think they were.

Here's a question for my disboard friends who frequent DL:

What restaurants do you HIGHLY recommend?? I need to submit my priority seating requests tomorrow and would love some recommendations. :wizard:

We are going down for a long weekend and to celebrate Mickey's Halloween Treat. All three kids will be there (our oldest two are coming from college), so it should be quite the good time! If I could only convince them to dress up! pirate:

Ok, since all anyone else has come up with is Club 33, here are some other thoughts:

For in park, the only PS's you need are for the Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans. I really recommend Cafe Orleans - they just turned it into a table service restaurant, and added a Three-Cheese Monte Cristo (Swiss, Mozzerella, & Triple Creme Brie). Heart attack on a plate :faint: :faint: , but sooooo good!

As for out of park, if you want an excellent dining experience, try Napa Rose, at the Grand Californian. Not cheap, but ranked as the top restaurant in Orange County by Zagat. :charac2:And that is saying something. Plus, Michael Jordan, the manager of Napa Rose, will be the guest chef on our cruise!

The only other locations you might need a PS for would be Storyteller's Cafe and Hook's Pointe. Both are good, but missable.
