Good morning everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying this glorious Monday morning!

I have a cold. YUCK. At least I have a week to get over it!
Okay - I looked, there is a MATH warning, but no MEDICAL warning sign!
Wanted to take a moment to let everyone know about Christina. She was diagnosed with spina bifida from an ultrasound while I was pregnant. This is when the spinal cord doesn't get closed right. She basically had a big hole in her spine. I had surgery on Christina to close up her spine while I was only 22 weeks along. I got to have TWO C-sections with her! It's a cool story I'll be glad to share on the cruise.
Functionally, spina bifida is a lot like being paralyzed from a car wreck - nerve damage. The nerve damage will never get better (at least with today's technology but there is hope for the future). It isn't supposed to get worse either - but it has recently. This is why she's been having a series of surgeries. Her upcoming surgery is one to remove scar tissue from her spinal cord. The scar tissue is wrapping around her nerves blocking them from working and damaging them further.
For most aspects, she's a regular kid. She goes to regular kindergarten, writes her name (sort of), reads simple words like "cat", loves the playground, etc. She wears braces on her legs to help keep them straight. She uses a walker to help give her balance. We have a huge umbrella stroller that we use for longer distances (she has a wheelchair at home, but I won't be bringing it this trip). When she graduated from preschool, they voted her as "Social Butterfly". She is a bit partial to men though. At our DIS meets, she'll probably come tearing up to one of you, wrap her arms around your legs and give you a great big huge HUG. That or she'll play shy and hide behind Mommy!
We watched the
DCL show on the travel channel last night and she was entranced. She kept recognizing the different parts of the ship. When she saw the atrium she goes "That's where my CLUB is!". When they showed the Lab, she said "That's TYLER'S CLUB!'. She wanted to go on the Mickey slide right now - AND told me she was a grown-up and so she can eat at Palo's too!
OH well - enough dreaming - back to work and my cold...
