Not to throw a wrench into plans or such, but the dismeet scheduled for 3pm Sunday on deck ten, won't we be at the lifeboat drills at that time. We sail at 4pm and the drill is always an hour before that??

I think the lifeboat drill is at 4:00 and we sail at 5:00. That is what I remember anyway...

Dillard's sales were overwhelming. 50-75 off everything summer. Four bags later, I finally told Lamar I would have to come back another day. Too many things on sale. Never made it out of the men's department. Got him some great clothes for the office. And of course some great stuff for the trip. I'll go back and get some more for the trip. :woohoo:

I did really well at Dillards last weekend when I was in Ohio - or should I say DH did well. Nice store - and they have good sales.

Secret Mickey shopping completed as well. Are there designated days to deliver the Secret Mickey gifts?

My preference would be to get your first gift delivered no later than Tuesday and then go at your own pace after that. Please remember to call me (we are in 2603) if your cabin number changes so that I can let your SM know that they need to deliver to a different place.

Also - don't forget the get together in the Promenade Lounge after our DIS luncheon on Tuesday, September 26th.

So glad to hear Tracy is having so much fun. Glad we will be joining her soon.

I will echo that sentiment as well - glad you are having a great time and also happy to be sailing with you soon.

OK - I have milked that post dry. Everyone have a great Monday, keep on task with your packing, closing up the house, stopping the mail and paper, making arrangements for your pets, taking care of any children not going, shipping boxes to the port and whatever else is on your to do list. I made pretty good headway with that stuff over the weekend plus got to spend some time with my 'away at college boys' so I am feeling pretty good about it all.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying this glorious Monday morning! I have a cold. YUCK. At least I have a week to get over it!

Okay - I looked, there is a MATH warning, but no MEDICAL warning sign!

Wanted to take a moment to let everyone know about Christina. She was diagnosed with spina bifida from an ultrasound while I was pregnant. This is when the spinal cord doesn't get closed right. She basically had a big hole in her spine. I had surgery on Christina to close up her spine while I was only 22 weeks along. I got to have TWO C-sections with her! It's a cool story I'll be glad to share on the cruise.

Functionally, spina bifida is a lot like being paralyzed from a car wreck - nerve damage. The nerve damage will never get better (at least with today's technology but there is hope for the future). It isn't supposed to get worse either - but it has recently. This is why she's been having a series of surgeries. Her upcoming surgery is one to remove scar tissue from her spinal cord. The scar tissue is wrapping around her nerves blocking them from working and damaging them further.

For most aspects, she's a regular kid. She goes to regular kindergarten, writes her name (sort of), reads simple words like "cat", loves the playground, etc. She wears braces on her legs to help keep them straight. She uses a walker to help give her balance. We have a huge umbrella stroller that we use for longer distances (she has a wheelchair at home, but I won't be bringing it this trip). When she graduated from preschool, they voted her as "Social Butterfly". She is a bit partial to men though. At our DIS meets, she'll probably come tearing up to one of you, wrap her arms around your legs and give you a great big huge HUG. That or she'll play shy and hide behind Mommy!

We watched the DCL show on the travel channel last night and she was entranced. She kept recognizing the different parts of the ship. When she saw the atrium she goes "That's where my CLUB is!". When they showed the Lab, she said "That's TYLER'S CLUB!'. She wanted to go on the Mickey slide right now - AND told me she was a grown-up and so she can eat at Palo's too!

OH well - enough dreaming - back to work and my cold...

Sweet Sue

Time form a moment of silence, a time to remember and reflect.

Thanks

Thanks

So sad. It was one of those times that I remember exactly what I was doing when I heard and we just all watched TV while at work and cried. It is an experience I hope our country never has to go through again. DH's sister's husband lost his sister that day so Sherman and everyone else that suffers - prayers being said from here. :grouphug:

WOHOW Not too many posts today means that I actually managed to read them all today! :Pinkbounc

Only a few days left! Hope everyone's getting as excited as me

party: party: party: CELEBRATION!!!

Something is wrong with me. It is not 2 a.m. in the morning!

That's because as of 11:30 last night, the Mini-Navigators have been printed, folded, stapled, and put in envelopes for everyone!

And I've still got 4 more nights before I leave on vacation!

At this point, any changes to staterooms or newbies will not be listed in the mini-navigators and they will be listed on the floor monitors postings!

Yipee. One more thing to check off my list.

Sharon (2canandians) wanted me to pass a message on to Cheryl (webray). She also told me a bit more about some of you. ;)

Cheryl, Sharon is afraid with their transfers that they won't get to the Poly until closer to noon. She doesn't want you to be waiting there for hours for them, so she will give me your pin (yes, she got it!!) and she'll call you at some point on your cell.

Still trying to convince Sharon and JM to come to Scott's party. They have PS for somewhere at AKL and then the Cirque du Soleil so we'll see what happens.

Peter, Sharon said she has to buy us a drink the next time we are at the pool together so she stays on your good side :teeth:

Thanks Linda fr the Mini Nav's.....

Tracy, do convince them to attend the OKW thingie.

I'm sorry to learn of your familys' direct loss. Needless to say but this kind of thing should never have happened. I look on it as a crime against America and humanity.

When 9-11 occurred I was right in the middle of sending / receiving / drafting an email to an old friend of 25 years. I remember the last words I was writing were - "who would be doing this? Why civilian targets and why not a military target?" And that was right after the 2nd tower was hit and just before the reports of "smoke" coming from the pentagon. My friend was in the defense establishment so we cut off right after that exchange and point.

The one thing I try to keep in mind is these people behind the attack ... they DESPERATELY WANT US TO REMEBER things a certain way. They want to influence us. AND they are trying to do it cheaply. They had a dozen or so terrorists and spent very little. We are using 100s of 1000s to respond in Afganistan and Iraq, and around the world. NOT to say what we're doing is right or wrong. I would rather think of those behind this LESS as a political or idological group - rather I think of them as CRIMINALS. I don't RECOGNIZE their objective - unless it is revenge on a policitical agenda (as my personal suspician for who really funded and encouraged it was Saddam - as he has the greatest motive and financial means). BUt - in the larger sense - if we are to believe they are politically motivated then they are attacking our culture and way of life. For what end? Did they short the airline and travel industry? Were they profit motivated? All this ... just for ... money?!?!? Well... this was not obvious to us in the public if so. Well... the arguement and (to me) the mystery goes on.

SO - I mark the ocassion with a moment of silence. Yes I remember. But also I resolve NOT to let a foreign and malevolent influence change MY way of life or my OUTLOOK. Or at least - I endeavor to minimize the changes. I can't help the travel changes at airports and such. This was a tragedy, a crime, and many other things that cannot be described by me as the words come up short. AND ULTIMATELY - the folks behind it - I am resisting YOU so that we don't encourage this kind of thing again as a means to their objective(s). I hope and pray what we're responding with (Afghanistan and Iraq, elsewhere) is NOT playing into their hands.

With somber silence, and a supportive glance....

Tom

OK... if this is true, then who set the 3PM time anyway? We're gonna have to corer the critter and do something pirates are supposed ta do! What, I'm not sure. Maybe - maybe we'll do what a Disny Pirate ight do and make 'em eat a Mickey ice Cream Bar in my Race! Ah-Ha! There we go!

No seriously, I think we are pretty close to the sail date to make changes. If it is 3 then it is 3. Unless someone thinks we can shift it over 30 - 60 minutes to 2:30 or 2. No harm in that as I suspect everyone is still gonna linger by 3 if we started at 2 anyway - provided we don't get kicked out by security to get our life vests.

And besides - we still ahve the sail-away gathering after the life boat drill IF we have a missed initial on board meet. It will be noiser with the music but - so what? :confused3

I think the confusion is in the fact that Disney is listing the all aboard time as 4pm. That isn't the sail time. So I would think that we would be sailing at the same time as normal (5pm) and the muster drill be also be the normal time (4pm). I know when I looked at the itinerary the other day to check port times, the 4pm under Port Canaveral caught my eye and had me initially thinking we'd be sailing early. So, unless I'm mistaken and someone confirmed differently, the 3pm meet would still be okay.

You are exactly right. First party 3 p.m. All Aboard is 4 p.m., one hour prior to sailing. THe drill is at 4 p.m. and the 2nd party will start right after the drill which will be about 4:30. We sail at 5 p.m. for 11 nights in paradise.
