Well, my week home alone has come to an end - the campers have returned. Oh well - just means one week closer to our cruise! :goodvibes

While I was enjoying the house to myself (and a shopping spree) I started putting things away to pack. I had purchased a book to read while at the grocery store a few weeks ago, went to get it to put it in the bag and darn if I didn't sit down and read it! I did stop in a B&N last weekend and picked up one book thinking I already had one so now the hunt is on for more reading material. What is everyone else reading? Do you read while cruising? I have been working one of Jimmy Buffet's books (A Salty Piece of Land) but (sorry Scott, Bob and anyone else) it just isn't my 'cup of tea'. Suppose my beverage is wrong???

Anyway - anyone read anything good lately? Any of you Dan Brown fans? I have not read Digital Fortress or Deception Point - if I wait until after Labor Day maybe it will be safe to purchase.

.... I already wear a lanyard to work, so I am already a "lanyard person"...
Can you live up to the legend of "the lanyard people" :rotfl2:

Good Evening All!
Been a busy day. The Tiki Bar is open! :thumbsup2
Mojitos to everyone who shows up this evening. :lmao:

Was a gorgeous day. Not very hot and not many clouds. Maybe got some tan on the old skin.

POC2 is on the agenda for tomorrow evening. pirate:
Got to find that eyepatch. Arrrggh!

Lanyards for gifts - do you think that got that idea from us also, seeing how popular they were in our group?

Lynn
:eeyore:

Absolutely! Ken has done such a great job with lanyards and name tags. I am trying to follow in his lanyard leadership for the 10 day cruise. Will we see DISers with multiple lanyards? Alex

...Bob, where is Racoon Lake, IN???? I see that is where Eric Stone will be. Further checking I see it is at Turkey Run.
Actually, Racoon Lake is not at Turkey Run. It is several miles southeast from there. Now, the Sugar Creek Campground is about a mile away. That is where Eric Stone is performing sat and sun. Several members from our club are going down tonight to see him. Unfortunately, we are not part of that road trip.

Hey Bob, have you heard? They are having Captain Jack on Castaway Cay. pirate: He will be telling stories and doing pictures and autographs. :artist: Also, if you rent a boat you can get a close up look at the ship. :cheer2:

... I do have a question for those of you that are staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise...if you don't mind disclosing..what kind of rates did you get for the one night?? I am looking at their website, and it looks like they are $118.00 for one night. :sad2: I know that we have stayed there before our other cruises, and seems to me that we paid between $79-$89 for a room ??

Also, we will be going to WDW for four days after the cruise and Dan is thinking about renting a car for those days. Anyone know if there is a place that we can rent a car from the airport, drop it off close to the Radisson, and then rent one for the stay at WDW and either drop it off at WDW and take the Magical express back to the airport or dirve ourselves to the airport and drop it off there??
Have a great weekend everyone, and thanks for any advice you can give me on these two questions.
Vickie

Considering all of us that are staying at the Radisson-- pirate:  :cool1: :yay: :Pinkbounc
Do you really want to stay there? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Actually, I think that is about what we paid also.
We are using Budget rental car. It's return is very close to the Radisson and they have a shuttle to the ship. At the time we booked, they were also the cheapest.

Bob, it is a Grass Skirt here this evening, I actually measured this one and it is pretty good. I usually just pour away when I make a mixed drink. Got the Tiki Grill fired up to do a Cheese Burger here in Paradise....

I am offically calling for a recount on the Peoples Choice!!!

I would be intersted to hear what your club folks thought of Eric Stone.

Alex, you are so right, DCL can't even touch Ken's work. He's da MAN!!!!

Found a Geocache today. weather is great. Wedding yesterday went very well.

Hey wouldn't be funny if the SailaWAY drink was a Grass Skirt....

POC2 tomorrow for us also.

Hi Everyone! I just got Happy Meals for the kids today at McDonalds. The theme was POC. To my surprise, instead of a cheap little toy that would litter the toyroom for the next month, they each received a cute little red PIRATE BANDANA!!! We are halfway to looking like we belong with your pirate crew now! pirate:

For all the Past Disney Cruiser's which we are not, do you all tend to think there will be alot less kids on this sailing since school will have just started and this is a longer cruise then normal. Meaning most kids would probabaly miss 2 weeks of school to take this cruise.

Just wondered out of 2400 passengers how many children onboard should we expect?

Jimbo :)

Note to self, Happy meals next week for lunch!!!!

Jimbo, I think there will definately be less that a summer or school break time cruise. The May repo did not have a whole lot of kids and they opened up the Oceaners Club to us big kids one night. We don't have kids and I really don't notice them much on DCL as the adult areas work for us.

I have a feeling this cruise will have a pretty light passenger load. Just my thoughts.

Scott,
do you think that they will re-visit the adults making flubber? I missed out last time! :sad2:
Eric Stone. One couple had seen him before, that is why they were going back. Story about him making the trip all the way up here is that he is a winter neighbor(in fla) of the guy who owns the campground/canoe rental/bar.
McD's. Haven't been there for a long time. Might take tippy by just to get the happy meal. :teeth:

PETER--Can you get with your good friend Tom McAlpin to get the "Grass Skirt" on the drink menu? Also, while you have his ear, ask if he can get Key Lime Krispy Kremes onboard for our cruise. I'll only need 3 or 4.........dozen. :)

Yesterday, I got "The Aye Ball" in my Happy Meal here in Canada....it is like one of the old fashioned "8 ball"...you ask it a yes or no question as you shake it...and then you lift the "aye" patch to reveal the answer.....I really wanted the Jack Sparrow beannie!!!!!....I guess I will be eating at McDonald's again next week at work....

Don't forget that these are kid-sized to go in the happy meals pirate:

---I'm not saying that any of you have a big head or anything, but they aren't made for us grown pirates, just for our little'uns!!! :)

Also if we have 2000 passengers on the ship we will be lucky ..
lots of kidless couples. like us .. Scott and so on..
Lets just say on our last cruise 14 day repo, there was 300 kids !!

One night they shut down the kids clubs to the kids and it was Adult only.

See the Action Here :wave2:

And they even give a shout out for the boards.. :)

Tell Lynn that as I had to pack up a couple of storage boxes of Happy Meal Disney toys...

Man I hope they do a Big Kid night in the Ocenaears Club, we were good and did share well.

I agree on not so many kids. We are leaving ours at home because at 16 and 20 they just can't miss that much school. 16yo is at crucial point in high school and 20yo is in college and you know what happens if you miss too much college :teacher: We went on 7day western last year in Sept and there were not that many kids. Kids on the ship don't bother me at all, as there are so many places for adults. Our ds16 is a DREAM to take on a cruise, we have to practically BEG him to come to dinner so we will have some pictures of the child. Dd20 likes to stay right underneath us though :confused3 but we are hoping that will change when we go on labor day 07 magic. We are bringing her boyfriend. :thumbsup2

you know what happens if you miss too much college
OH Uh Oh Uh I know you get a double major..... I did and it only took 4.5 years LOL, hey climbing Mt Mckinley was more important at the time. Ah the stories we can tell.

PIT (Pretty in TinK) where are ya now???

I just downloaded every known marine chart for North America into the GPS, so Captain Henry if ya have any probs let me know, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express and did sound the claxon once.

Lucky for us Dd would be the one upset to miss school. She takes it VERY seriously as she has never made below an A in her entire life. Ds likes to throw in some variety for us though and thinks we should take him out of school ALL THE TIME for any old thing. He's a good student but I think he's gonna be the one to squeeze 4 years of college into 8 :rotfl: Mt McKinley huh, mine was Panama City Beach runs when I was supposed to be in class :confused3

Bob, We will have Tracy submit your requests !
maybe we will see some anwsers in the letters to Tom Section of the Newsletter ! :wizard:

T Get on it :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We are in Sidney, Nebraska. Home of Cabela's, the equivelant of Toys-R-Us to my dh. :lmao: After that, on to Cheyenne, home of the infamous Jackalope. We are headed to California, and as soon as we get there we are headed to POC2 (YO HO!) pirate: pirate: We only have one more trip out to NJ and back to Cali then we are headed to Sweet Home Alabama! :Pinkbounc We need a little r&r and boy will I be glad to have my cable internet instead of this slow as mollasses internet card on this truck!
It's faster than dial-up, but nowhere near cable. When we go home we will be there a week then back out to work. But with smiles on our faces knowing the next time we go home we will be setting sail with all you lunatics :dance3: We can't wait!!! I actually have to start packing this time home, isn't that crazy?

Cabelas in Sidney is pretty KEWL, the Bargin Cave is great. Sportsmans Warehouses are pretty good also. There is Sierra Trading Post in Cheyenne.

Hope I-80 isn't too windy.

Got the Skynard ref. they have a place here in Jackson.
