September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

So, no one else is interested in the tequila tastings? You mean I will have to drink all that tequila by myself? It's a rotten job, but I suppose someone has to do it! :drinking1
Be there or be square! counting down now! :sail:

ME! ME! ME! :yay: As you say, it's a sacrifice, but I'll do it for the cause! . . . or cruise! :drinking1:drinking:

For anyone who is wondering (and I know it's alot of you...)

Mom and I have set a cut off date for when we can safely book the cruise...

It is Sept 4th so it still gives me time.

Things ARE progressing... keep praying to whatever God or Saint of high finances that the money goes through... :littleangel: :littleangel: :littleangel:

So... for now.. Please keep me on all lists... FE, etc...

I am sorry if this is an inconvienence to anyone...

Will let you know as soon as I do...

Howdy neighbor.. ;) We are in 6536 :thumbsup2

That's crazy! Thanks for the welcome. I hope I like the location as we gave up our favorite room. We even thought about turning down the upgrade because we like 2000 so much. We have had it for several cruises including the Panama Canal cruise. When we hit Hurricane Hilary the swells were actually hitting our porthole. It was awesome!

Welcome jgill!

lg3, have you ever tried the creamy tequila in Mexico called Tequipal? They have 4 different flavors. I can't wait to get back there to stock up!!

Anything new with the cruise or here since I left?

does anyone have experience with getting a taxi in st. thomas?

We will need one to get us from the ship to the courthouse to Magen's Bay and then back to the courthouse and back to the ship. Our wedding company suggested we set it up ahead of time b/c it is hard to find a regular taxi...they said most are large vans, etc. I am having trouble getting a response from any companies when trying to prearrange it.

Are there generally taxis waiting for cruisers at the port?

In my experience, you almost have to fight them off!
If someone knows differently, please post.

Will DCL make an transportation arrangement for you? Or maybe making friends with the excursion staff on board?
I really don't think it's much of a problem - JUST GET BACK ON BOARD ON TIME!!
(I have seen people racing across the port as the ship (not DCL) pulls out.
They had to charter space on the pilot tug and climb the jacobs ladder.
Pretty interesting for the rest of us.)

Now did I say I wasn't going sign-up for the tequila tasting? Just try and stop me! I tried on the Panama Canal cruise but it was all booked up.

Kathy, we have never had ANY problem getting a taxi right at the port. In fact, there were 5 of us twice and the only way we could do it was get two. I say that so you know that it was a car and not a van. I feel for you as I know you want it all planned out. I just don't think you should have any problems, however.

thanks! we will be back in plenty of time. 10 a.m. ceremony...followed by sightseeing in St. Thomas.
That is a good idea to ask the excursion staff. I will do that!

Hi Guys,

We are jumping on the Thread late, but here we go.

Griffin 9
Teaghan 15 Months
Jim (Dad)
Maureen (Mom)

are so excited to be on this cruise.

This will be #5 for us...Going to be a challenge with the baby, but we should be ok.

Just wanted to throw our names in the hat. Our last cruise (when we found out about Teaghan) was in September 07. I think it was the 15 - 22. Not sure. Anyone on that cruise?

Anyway...Our good friends from Miami (Cecelia, Pedro, Andre and Eric) will be on this cruise with us. Can you believe we met these guys in line waiting for our 2nd Disney Cruise. Yup, that is right. We were waiting for the Magic to be ready from the 2005 refurb and we sat next to each other in line and started talking. We have been friends ever since. That is the Disney Magic.

My Brother and Sister-in-law will also be on this cruise as well as my wife's parents and their children.

Going to be a great trip.

Sorry we are jumping on so late, but here we go...

Hi Jim!
We are a little nervous to be sailing with our 17 month old...maybe we will see you at Flounders!

:happytv: Me again,
Here is your door sign (I didn't forget). If you know your cabin let me know and I will add it ..
have a great weekend,
gg

This tourism site has information and tips on taxis (and how to know who is a bona fide taxi as opposed to a rogue taxi service.

If it helps, here is a page with details of taxi firms (and if you wanted something a little more special - limousine companies).
