September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Yeah!:woohoo: Our Magical Express packet arrived in the mail today! 37 days until WDW and our 1st DVC stay at SSR. :thanks: Ian for the info on just one luggage tag per person. I called Member Services and they requested a second set for me. They actually came today too!

I hope you all are having a great day. :flower3:

I'm a brunette too!!! :thumbsup2

May I join your club?
You bet!
I'm a redhead (well, strawberry blond really) does that count or do I have to dye it? I don't think I would look good as an auburn headed gal, wouldn't look good with my pale skin.
Strawberry blonde counts, that's what I was before I went darker!
It wouldn't be too far afield for my family. My brother had chestnut hair. My beard used to be red in my youth.

I'd be tempted to do it too, if there wasn't work to consider when I got back!

Come on - do it! You can always dye it back and I bet if you had red in your hair - your skin tone is perfect - God doesn't make mistakes! :goodvibes

Topic change:

Can I just say I hate the new DISNEY website? Jackie got those fans - came today - no logo available because the "metal" silver part is actually plastic...:dance3:

I'm glad that worked out for you. I think they are sending out ME documents much earlier than they used to.

For anyone who has signed up for Shots Around the Ship, or Walking on Water, I have not forgotten about you. I will be emailing out information as we get closer to the trip, so that it is fresh, timely and just in time.

I'll probably email out a week before I leave.

Shots Around the Ship - A Stem to Stern Extravaganza
There's not a lot of organizing for Shots Around the Ship, other than we will be meeting in the Promenade Lounge between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5th. Once again, you can drink water, Coke, vodka, rum, rotgut or lighter fluid. The choice is strictly up to you. The focus of the event is to meet everyone and convivial conversation. If we are having too good a time we may stay in the Promenade Lounge, if people want to we will, "crawl" on to another bar.

Walking on Water - Keeping Healthy at Sea

Will be a bit more organized. I'll be grouping people by the time of day you indicated you want to walk. I will be in only one of the groups and my time of day for the moment is a secret.

I'll also designate a meeting point on deck 4 the promenade deck. From there, folks can walk at their own pace, and walk as many or as few laps as each individual wishes. The purpose of the event is motivation and inspiration for walking, not inflicting torture.

One lap around deck 4 is 1/3 of a mile. My personal goal will be to do 9 laps. My daily goal of total walking to maintain my current routine of 16,000 steps a day.

So, expect to see information from me via email in about 3 to 4 weeks.

I would think Karen(Custard Tart) would be flying from the south. I believe she is away in Spain at the moment. She is trying to catch up Mr and Mrs Woody for the most days spent on vacation!!!!
Karen, you go girl!

Mermaid or Whale?

Recently, in a large French city, a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym. It said,

“THIS SUMMER DO YOU WANT TO BE A MERMAID OR A WHALE?”

A middle aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman in the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.

“To Whom It May Concern:

Whales are always surrounded by friends - dolphins, sea lions, curious humans. They have an active sex life, and they get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with all their sea friends. They play and swim in the seas of the world, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Bering Sea, and the coral reefs of Polynesia. Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs. They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans.
They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone and everything in the world.

Mermaids, on the other hand, don't exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They wouldn’t have sex lives because stories tell that they kill men who get close to them. Besides, how could they have sex? Just look at them...where is IT? Therefore, they wouldn’t have kids either. And what man would want to get close to a girl who smells like a fish market?

The choice is perfectly clear to me; I want to be a whale.”

We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my daughter, a delicious piece of chocolate with my friends, and a good dinner with my man who makes me shiver. With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads. When there is no more room in our heads, the information and wisdom distribute out to the rest of our bodies.

So we aren't heavy! We are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror, I will think, “Good grief, just look how smart I am!”

AMEN SISTAH!

Jackie here is a thread link you might want to check out...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2225532

it's about Carnival versus Disney. Very interesting read and with those prices - you might just learn to love another "boat"... they say the food is excellent... (better than Disney)... I know I know... people settle down.:surfweb:

Sorry, but we fly from Manchester. I would think Karen(Custard Tart) would be flying from the south. I believe she is away in Spain at the moment. She is trying to catch up Mr and Mrs Woody for the most days spent on vacation!!!!;)

I'll PM Karen and see if she would be able to help.

So jealous of Mr & Mrs Woody and their epic cruise, as well as Karen's attempt to steal the gold medal from them! Oh well. Only another 14 years till we are empty nesters :scared::faint:

I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would

So Ian, is it 5 weeks today then??

According to my DVC desktop countdown, our little travelling party has 34 days (and some hours) until we leave for the WDW leg of our holiday. So yes, 5 Fridays from today.
