The best places to see the fireworks are from Top of the World and if you have a Magic Kingdom view: your balcony is best

We were lucky enough to nab a MK view and I can't wait to watch the fireworks from the room and to see the Electrical Water Pageant every night. And I can't wait to take pics of it all with my DSLR!!!!

I'm reallly excited too - to use my new DSLR this trip to Disney World and our cruise - can't wait to try some shots that I've been seeing on the photo of the day site - gives me some new ways of looking at things. I love that!

I used to think people were crazy to carry around such expensive cameras on cruises and especially in the parks, but then I used ours on our ABD Italy trip and now I completely understand why they do. The quality of pics is so much better!!!! I took it with us to WDW for the pin event in June as a trial run to decide if I wanted to carry it for a whole week in Nov. and most of the time I didn't even realize it was there. It hardly ever got in the way and I got some really nice shots, even pics on the monorail. Now I know I couldn't have gotten those with my regular camera. This time I just need to remember to pack the extra battery, the charger and the sync cable.:lmao: Those all accidentily got left at home, luckily it was only a weekend and I just barely made it on my one battery.

Indeed packing all the "stuff" that goes with it is important - my girlfriend recommended a great harness strap and I LOVE - I got it at Wallmart and it's for binocular's actually -but this way I can carry my camera and have my hands free. It's great for hikes and horse back riding - my camera is "there and ready" for those great deer shots, or you never know..shots - topic change

I just called Disney Cruise Lines and ORDERED GIFTS!!!!:cheer2::banana:another thing x'd off my list! And another thing that makes me feel so happy about this cruise - it's going to be FUN FUN FUN!:yay::woohoo::dance3:

Don't get me started. Planning a trip now has become like planning a military landing! The only packing I fret over are the electronics. There are so many chargers and cables to schlepp along! Then there's the laptop for off loading photos!

We will have 3 cameras in tow. Mine still camera, Sukie's, and our little itty bitty digital video camera. I'm particularly excited about that since it's submersible and water proof (well it would have to be if it's submersible). It will be nice for the stingray encounter. Plus the rest of the trip. I enjoy shooting video postcards.

Remember to ask your sister or Cheri about our video postcards from the May trip. Usually they're themed.

I also just got us two Eye-Fi Geo 2 GB SD cards for our cameras. Not only do they allow you to wireless upload from the card directly to your web storage, they also geocode every photo. I'll be trying this out on this trip.

A week before the trip I will start draining and recharging batteries and assembling the myriad of labeled ziploc bags with all of the electronics paraphernalia.

The ensembles and the hatbox are child's play by comparison.

I actually got to SEE one of the videos Cheri made, It was lovely... that was the weekend we went up to Prescot in that little cottage and we got to visit Cheri.

That eye-fi sounds like a "must have"... did I tell you about the call to the IS dept I made? Yesterday I called to see what our employee Dell purchase would be for a MINI - in purple just for downloading photos for our trips so we don't have to schlepp DH's laptop or mine for that matter. The electronics we tote is ridiculous - and especially if I take my ipod/or shuffle for workouts! The baggies indeed! I don't think I'll be bringing the phone and will try and plead with DH NOT to bring his, but getting that thing away from him is like performing surgery to remove an appendage!:cool1::thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Jackie- just an fyi if you pop on here soon- I have GRand Torino on netflix (came today) if you are interested in seeing it sometime this weekend. Lisa is coming over in the a.m. to show me the wreath she made from the pine cones I slepped home from Barb's - I bet its adorable - she is SO talented. She's also brining me my jewelry she made ...:dance3::cheer2::yay::hug:

Did I say how much I love my furlough day?:lmao::cool1:I got so much done today! Thank you boss man - for my Friday's! :woohoo:Just thought I'd put that out in the universe since my DH thinks I'm often ungrateful... (yes he said that to me one day when I was complaining about the handyman and him not covering our clothes while they were putting in a new light in my closet...) Ok i love the light - but that lack of prep... :rolleyes1 MEN!

Not so my dear, you saw Cheri's videos, videos of us, not videos we've taken. Believe me, you'd remember, because you wouldn't be able to sleep due to the nightmare. There's a video we did in Epcot which was an "In Search Of" that we did especially for Cheri.

I looked at an 80 GB Wolverine today on Amazon, which is a device just for off-loading photos from cards. It's much smaller and lighter than a laptop. About the size of a cigarette pack. I just thought it would be cheaper to drag our little prehistoric iBook with us. There was supposed to be a new Mac notebook in the cards this fall, but that's a purchase I may be delaying.

We're hoping to be in Palo for brunch on Thursday, too. It's our 27th wedding anniversary!

The camera strap I've got is a Pro-Tec strap. It's really nice and comfortable and doesn't cut into the back of my neck like a lot of other straps. It's a good heavy duty camera strap. The one I've got right now is my fil's, but I hope to get a newer one at some point.

I hate trying to remember all the electronic crap. There's the two cell phone chargers, the laptop charger, the iPod chargers and all the stuff that goes with the camera and I'm sure I'm already forgetting something.:confused3

Our Palo our dinner is Thusday night...7PM I believe, provided we can combine our 6:30P ressie for 2 with the 7PM ressie for 4, into one ressie for 7 at 7P...whew, it's going to be a fun time at Rock n Bar-D! We have to 'tweek' tea also.

.

We weren't able to get Palo's for brunch for this cruise. We will certainly try when we get on board. iF anyone has 2 extra seats, and would like company, please PM me. My H and I make pretty good fillers!:thumbsup2
Thanks, Vicki

We have high tea on Sunday, Dinner on Tuesday and brunch on Thursday, I think it was basically what we could get when I booked on line. I'm pretty happy with the the way the plans worked out, even though it they were not necessarily the days I wanted. Now I need to see if I can sneak Monica in with us.

I need some help from all of you experienced cruisers! For the St. Thomas stop, we are wanting to go on our own to a nice beach but can't figure out which one is best. I've heard that St. John is much more beautiful but also heard that the ferry there is an hour and usually causes people trouble. Does anyone have any suggestions on a nice beach for kids to play and swim? Not interested in snorkeling...just want a beach area that is clean, not crowded, and fairly easy to get to. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Can't advise you about a family beach but I did like St John's for snorkeling. I wanted to warn you about the mosquitos and no-see-ums during our tour on St John's. BRING THE BUG JUICE!!! No bugs at the beach -- just getting there.

Who all here is going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party before the cruise? I have a huge favor to ask, would someone who is going be willing to pick up one of the Halloween Party edition Vinylmation's for me and deliver it to me on the ship? I'll reimburse you for it on the ship and I would greatly appreciate it!!!!
