Ding! Ding! Ding!

We have a winner!!!!

Yes, one of the things I really look forward to on a vacation is the food.

Though I still have a plan in place:

- Controlled and limited points for breakfast, limiting breakfast to about 4 points (it's easy to blow upwards of 25 points on breakfast alone)

- Controlled and limited points for lunch

- Greater latitude for dinner

- Snacks must be intentional and mindful and not happen by accident. I have to focus on the snack and really enjoy and experience it and not mindlessly eat something.

- Balance everything out with about 20,000 steps a day.

Deb (EllaEnchanted) - I have responded to your email, but I had a couple of questions. I thought I would post them here in case others had the same questions, find the answers interesting/useful, or had answers that they could contribute!

1. How long does the Champagne Girls event typically last? I think I also have spa treatments planned that day and I want to make sure I don't over schedule for the day :-)

2. I know this is a girls only event, but do our men folk casually meet up at the same time? Or do they just wander the ship lonely and aimlessly until the ladies return? :rotfl: (Just wondering if there is something that I can send DH off to at the same time! That's assuming the kids are ensconced in the kids clubs.)

I think on our Panama Cruise, one of the guys organized the "Beer Boys." I don't know, because I didn't participate. I just walking around the ship weeping and trying to console myself.

My brother asked about that too - not my DH though, he thinks of me going out with the girls as his "quiet" time... you think? But I know my brother will find some quiet spot and a few guys to shoot the breeze with - he's very resourceful... DH and he will get into some sort of trouble together I am sure... just don't pull an "ALEX" on us... (HOUSEWIVES OF NY... where the women got together for cocktails at one of the gals homes an Alex brought her hubby - without telling anyone... LOL:rotfl::rotfl2::cool1:

Summer really goes by fast, especially now that (at least in my state) the kids go back the first week of August!

I'll second that!

Woody

You and Mrs. Woody are my idols! I want to grow up and travel like you guys do!!!

Is that how you get in the 20,000 steps a day?????:lmao::lmao:

I wore a pedometer for awhile. It was amazing to see how resourceful I was to get to my step goal. It actually made it fun.

Who wants to call DCL and pretend to want a Cat 1-3 on this cruise and find out for us if there are still some available? Just curious about the potential for upgrades at the port. Not like I would be able to do any...just curious...aren't you?

MINDFUL is the key word and to be able to take the time to savor the treat! It's the spur of the moment purchase and/or the gobble it up and run technique that is such a killer to a healthy eating plan.

Will some of those step be pushing my wheel chair! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I've got a "Powered by Ian" logo already to slap on you, when I start pushing your chair. Or, maybe we could just trade for some Mouse Manager product placement advertising.

Gotcha. Will try to remember in future.

We do camp, but haven't done so for a while. We found it a lot of stress camping with little ones - not so much the camping, but getting everything together, pitching and striking the tent and packing everything away. It always seemed so much simpler when it was just DH and I, small tent, carrymat, sleeping bags and food. :rotfl2: Now it seems like relocating an army! The kids are getting older, so hopefully it should be easier, even though we still have to take the large multi-room tent.

We just find that we run out of time as a family to do this stuff. Next year we really must go back and visit family in the UK (won't have been back for 5, almost 6, years :scared1: That's a two week minimum trip, probably more as we want to have some time to vacation when we are over there. (Not just see family).

-Kay

This will be your season for different trips.

We have two sons, four years apart. We tent camped for 7 years before the older one was born and 6 years after. When the baby was 2 we bought a motorhome. DH said he was tired of sleeping in sand and pine needles. (No matter how well we shook out the sleeping bags or tried to wipe our feet, there were always pine needles and sand in the sleeping bag.)

The first one was second hand. The second motorhome was larger and second hand. Then one of the boys was in college and the other had graduated and we bought a new one. A small Rialta--Winnebago cab on a VW Eurovan chasis. We told the boys we were going to buy a smaller one but apparently they missed the factoid that it would only sleep two.

The first thing they each said when they saw it was :confused3 "Where will I sleep?"

That led to a family conference, the realization that they did not want to go camping with us everywhere we went, they only wanted to go to WDW and knew only about Fort Wilderness.

So, on a DCL cruise, we bought into DVC.

As they say, "For everything there is a season."

Jackie is totally correct. Seriously, a lot of food can be taken in with mindless eating or snacking that in the end, is just not satisfying as a experience.

My modus operandi is to Experience my food and my snacks. Really enjoy them. I find that doing that I actually eat less and am more satisfied.

When we were in WDW in May on several occasions I went on a seek and destroy mission for a Ghirardelli ice cream sunday. One evening I left Sukie at OKW and got on a boat to go and get one. It was a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed that sundae. It must have been an experience ... I'm still talking about an ice cream sundae from 3 months ago!

I also lost 1.8 pounds on that trip.

(Mind you, I was racking up about 26,000 steps a day)

Pepole say the books are better than the films, but I think I would just watch the movies.

:dance3::hug::dance3:

FOOD!!!:yay: :blush::blush::blush:

We just watched the 1st film and it was really good. I'll definitely stick with the movies. I've never been able to get into books.

MouseManager product placement is a good idea!

But really, if I run out of steam I'm going ELECTRIC! zoom...zoom.....

It's easy peasy to get in at least 20,000 steps a day. My recommendation is to wear a pedometer. What you can't measure, you can't manage.

Too bad I cannot remember my smart aleck comeback... ahh the joys of menopause... I'll be back if it comes around the old brain again... geeeeeez

I did love Cheri's comment about you getting in your 20,000 steps due to walking around the ship weaping and consoling yourself, good one Cheri:thumbsup2

OH Yeah, now I remember - my comment - was it would be easy peasy for me to get in 20,000 steps if I were not CHAINED to my desk all day long. I have even gone so far as to get up every now and again and do a "lap" in our office. We are on one floor now and we have two loops within the building, I do once around the big loop and then another around the inner loop... sometimes my boss will see me and he just smiles - he asked me once what I was doing and I told him it's better to walk and clear my mind than run someone over in the parking lot with frustration... he agreed.

I find I'm not so cranky anymore and can tolerate more human ignorance (Area Managers not reading emails, etc) since I've lost a bit o'weight. I am hoping that by the time I hit my goal I'll be my old nice self. (Ok maybe after menopause is completely OVER). :woohoo::sad2:

This is pretty late, and I am so sorry, but.......HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO DONNA AND HARRY TODAY (thursdaY):banana::yay::woohoo::dance3::cheer2::cheer2:
Best wishes and prayers for both of you tomorrow:hug::hug::hug::hug: I will pm you later
