September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

This will be your season for different trips.

We have two sons, four years apart. We tent camped for 7 years before the older one was born and 6 years after. When the baby was 2 we bought a motorhome. DH said he was tired of sleeping in sand and pine needles. (No matter how well we shook out the sleeping bags or tried to wipe our feet, there were always pine needles and sand in the sleeping bag.)

The first one was second hand. The second motorhome was larger and second hand. Then one of the boys was in college and the other had graduated and we bought a new one. A small Rialta--Winnebago cab on a VW Eurovan chasis. We told the boys we were going to buy a smaller one but apparently they missed the factoid that it would only sleep two.

The first thing they each said when they saw it was :confused3 "Where will I sleep?"

That led to a family conference, the realization that they did not want to go camping with us everywhere we went, they only wanted to go to WDW and knew only about Fort Wilderness.

So, on a DCL cruise, we bought into DVC.

As they say, "For everything there is a season."
.

We tent camped for about 6 yrs. We have some great memories, but I sure was happy when my parents had their cottage in PEI built and we got to progress to trips out east, a few days in a hotel somewhere new followed by a week at their cottage :thumbsup2 We did continue to do weekend tent camps for some time though:goodvibes

I once tried roughing it too! I once stayed in a Holiday Inn.

We just watched the 1st film and it was really good. I'll definitely stick with the movies. I've never been able to get into books.

While I enjoy movies, I enjoy books more. I have a really hard time watching a movie after I've read the book...I sit there and think...no, that isn't what the character looks like or sounds like...you've got it all wrong  ;)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Actually, Ian, one of our worst traveling experiences ever happened during our very first trip to wdw when we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Chattanooga :scared1: I sent an email after the ordeal and received most of my money back....wish they could have kept the money and erased the memory

and Yummy.. ;)

Yes, we've had quite a bit of bad luck and I was close to losing it.. but, things started to get better.. and I had a pretty good day today so it's nice.. but thank you for asking and keeping us in your thoughts..

Stacy  You've been through a lot. I'm glad you had a good day. Sometimes we just have to learn to take one day at a time.

It's odd how bad hotel experiences can stick with us.

You left out the best part of your trip.

Ian: That arrival in 7 weeks starts the best part of the trip!

Peggy: That arrival in 8 weeks starts the best part of the trip!

In the first of our series "Background Music to Dream By" ... breakfast at Topsiders.

Play this from YouTube and imagine that you are relaxing and enjoying your breakfast at Topsiders.

This always makes me think of Topsiders because it is on the background music loop for that part of the ship.

Everyone in my department enjoyed that! I cranked it up as everyone was getting ready to leave for the day.

For me, my vacation truly starts when I hear the announcements in the tram at MCO on the way from the gates to the main terminal!

Yep, there were posts about it a week or so ago. ::yes::

EIGHT WEEKS FROM TODAY WE SHOULD ALL BE GATHERING IN THE GREATER PORT CANAVERAL AREA FOR NEXT DAY BOARDING!

:cool1:.....:cool1:.....:cool1:

Seven weeks from right now Cheri and I will be on our plane flying in to be picked up by the lovely and talented Monica! :woohoo:

.

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

4 weeks from yesterday I'll be in Banff enjoying a week with my son :woohoo:

When I get home I'll have just 3 weeks to prepare for this cruise!!!

9 weeks from tomorrow my daughter will be joining me for the 2nd half of my B2B :cool1:

Just got a great rate off Hotwire for the night before the cruise. We got a room at the Country Inn & Suites for $63 ($73 after taxes):cool1:

We're so happy to get that rate. Hopefully we won't have an experience like Ian's!

Now, I'm off to find rental car deals. Wish me luck! Trying to tie up the loose ends for this trip.

Just opened up the mail and we got confirmation that we got Bay Lake Tower (the new DVC resort at Contemporary) for our post cruise stay. We waitlisted BLT for our post cruise stay and we got it! Can't wait to see what it looks like.

Peggy, it looks like I won't be "walking" into you around the lake at Boardwalk now :sad2: But maybe we'll be seeing you around the parks. :cloud9:

High Tea and Brunch

OK, back when we made reservations at Palo, SOMEBODIES :rolleyes1 booked all the High Tea and Brunch tables.
Since I plan on arranging for reservations onboard, are there any dates/times you might recommend? Anyone have an open chair at your tables? :flower:

Wow! Great deal at CI&S. We booked it online and paid the rack rate. :sad2:

Let us know how you do with your rental car. I think I'll be trying Priceline for that too it's the last thing we have to book.

Is that located near MCO? We stayed there the night before one of our cruises and took the shuttle bus to MCO to pick up the DCL bus. The hotel is really quite good for the money, and a bargain!

Sorry I was out of state for a few days. Just want to let every one know I will be sending the FE list out this weekend. I am waiting for head count on 5 people who signed up but didn't state how many. We are sitting on 51 adults and 21 children right know. I am expecting the final count to be around 61 adults and a few more children. I do have some one list (Ig3) but I can't send a PM so if you see this let me know the head count. This list is from the survey and those who PM'd me.

As people get there room numbers let me know. I will send room numbers a little closer to cruise time.

FE's I have a question about how FEs are going to work. My only previous experience was on a large cruise and teams of gift people.

For this cruise are we each buying our own goodies and doing our own deliveries? Is there going to be a delivery schedule?

Yes we are hoofing our own around. :upsidedow This is the first one I have done. I would say random delivery through the week so you never no when a surprise might arrive. :)

No this is at Cape Canaveral at 9009 Astronaut Dr. I'm really excited about the rate. :cool1:

Deb, is this the one you're staying at? If so you might want to rebook it thru Hotwire.

Hi Kathy,
No I don't have a table, I am going to tea with Deb when she goes, but I am always available as a filler if you need one for your table!:thumbsup2:rotfl: Vicki
